Not questioning tlt but they have a big expense budget going all over the world for landrace beans.

Quick response on email and really cool customer service.
I'm got some Kalinga from the Philippines, bag seed and they were more than helpful to identify what I have.
Their beans are expensive though.

Sad scary times when the very few landrace banks available are starting to shutter. Angus has got to be getting up there too. My tragedy is that i only prefer south american sativas and Ace is about the only place that has them. I guess i'll have to go to the bank and take out a loan and prepare for the wrath of the angry wife 😁

I made a tikal repro in 2021 and they're not for sale anymore. If you want a few of them for your survivalist vault let me know 👍

This should be answered by Kaiki, not me, but...

It's not just watering, it's transplanting, it's making clones, maintaining mothers, cleaning, photographing daily, getting fresh seeds every once in a while, evaluating and testing new varieties... And all this indoors, which produces fewer seeds than outdoors.
Multiply it across the entire cannabiogen catalog in regular, feminized and auto...

I remember that he spent several years working with Punto Rojo.
Destroyer 7 years, so that then dutch passion comes and pirates it, selling it as "desfran".
It was still sold in cannabiogen.

The problem with these varieties is that there are 4 gourmets who want them.
Young people and the vast majority want commercial hybrids with a maximum of 10 weeks of flowering and a sofa effect.
Almost no one wants plants that have 4 or 5 months of flowering.

So if you raise the price too much, people don't buy or buy less, they complain about the high price and only people who have more purchasing power buy and those who can't don't buy or buy less. You discriminate against them.

If you put the price low, it seems that it is of lower quality and since there are few sales and a lower price, the accounts do not come out.

That's why cannabiogen closed.

Kaiki liked regular varieties and had to go for feminization and try autos because it was what the market was asking for. Until he got tired and left.

Ace seeds now had to raise prices to be able to continue and I recently read Dubi on his forum that he was a little tired and didn't know if it was worth continuing.

Tropical Seeds has been on the verge of closing several times, in addition to also shooting for the feminized market that Aeros did not like.

In my case I will not sell seeds fems or autos, I will keep the prices as tight as possible and if it does not go well I will close. Let people buy cookies and gorillas, but I don't plan to put the price of a packet of seeds at 80-100 euros...
I'd be surprised if ACE didn't generate good sales. I know he said that new caledonia hasn't sold as well as he thought, and has questioned if supplying landraces is worth it.

I'll be starting new caledonia this winter, indoors. It seems to have a pretty good following on here. I think a lot of newbs get discouraged when herm issues come up but hey thats just landraces. Its not a matter of if but when and you just have to roll with it. Nothing wrong with a few seeds anyway. I don't know how he could question its worthiness though. Preservations more important now than ever in these kush cookie times

ive been following this thread for a while ,
one thing i dont buy is the excuse for charging exorbitant prices for landrace seeds,
if you cant make your business profitable , just charge more , seems to be the thought ,

i dont think thats in business 101 ,
why not change the business so that its more profitable and competitive,
then you dont have to overcharge folks for something,
ie , sell some hybrids , do some actual breeding work with these rare seeds held by the company,
dont just use bullshit excuses to gouge more out of people who are interested in landraces ...

I feel the least they can do is list the prices and offer discounts on larger orders. $200 for 10 seeds is just silly

Dubi got back to me. He says theyre about to celebrate 20 years of business and he has no plans of retiring :rasta:
:greenstars:even a few that have been
I had a conversation with my Mrs about breeders, most have been in business for more than 20 years and still going strong. There's been a few that popped up and closed overnight but lets face it, they weren't serious breeders. Then you get the odd one that dissappears like sannie
