The Haze Hybrid Thread

Donald Mallard got the 3 ladies into the SIP's yesterday. Will give them a week or so to settle into the totes before flipping.

We have 2 of the C5/Mango x Mango fat on the left and on the back right is C5/Mango x C5/Mango. The other is a GMO, she goes 12 weeks so I thought she would be a good companion.

The back left plant has an interesting "come at me bro" structure, lol.

hey bmac ,
looks like your taking full advantage of all the space you have with the tubs ,
i bet those plants will fill those up nicely ,
I'm sure that tent will become a small jungle in no time at all ,
nice form man , i look forward to seeing what comes of the youngsters ,
thanks for keeping me ;up to date with them bmac...

nice work. what are the smells?

those calyxes are little size, not like og... quite a disappointment. no bag appeal.

Cheers mate!
The one upfront is pure incense and the back one is more Thai citrus with denser buds.
They’ll get the chop in about a week.
ill update after a sample.

like you say, seriously strong.. I still say there are better parents for haze than northern lights5. even among indicas. like this ghost og, it combines with haze genetics very well. better than sour diesel imo.

Agreed! (we have better parents available for making hybrids than NL5).
Not to disrespect NL5, but so much of what goes as NL5 today is not up to the reputation of the legendary gear Nevil shared 30 years ago.
Of course, almost all the wide leafs that we have to pick from today actually have some NL5 hidden in the pedigree somewhere ;-)

Re: OG vs SourD for hybrids . . .
In my opinion, OG would combine more consistently than SourD for sure. We all know sour throws a range of phenos in offspring so not all offspring will be winners.
As far as effects though, the sour already leans to the dreamy side of the effects spectrum, so I find the sour x haze combo to be complementary (smoke/effects wise.)

OG (like oHaze) seems to improve everything it crosses with in terms of potency (and some other important traits). Some haze lovers will not see it as an improvement though because the powerful OG effects are polar opposite of ohaze. Narcotic, mental "vapor lock". Kevin Jodrey describes it as popular with opiate addicts because of the similarity of effects.

The ECSD x oHaze may not be quite as potent as the OG x oHaze, but I prefer the effects (unless it's time for bed.)

Not cured just dry sample is so smooth, tastes
menthol citrus. I’m really surprised, invigorating but a little disorienting. Potent too, cut through my tolerance.

of the 7 females 2 are quite a bit faster flower and extremely shorter. The tall ones grow fast and stretch..

Mango haze @120 days . Last plant from my first crop in 6 years. Smells like rotting mango and onion with that piney musky haze background.

This is my last run of this p53 or A5hbx x Fp)x(A5hbx x Mac keeper pheno. She has a light pine dank aroma.

well both gives strong hybrid effect, I thought that Ogk terps combine better, but it is only my subjective impression. sour diesel x haze or chemdog x haze is very similar to skunk x haze it seems to me. as far as terps go.. I like taste of ogk x haze more than sd x haze.. mango kush from Dr. Purpur has to be top notch at terps department..

yeah I agree with Kevin. with A5haze it is the same. yet some calls it a "haze"... very confusing for those who are looking for haze experience.

there are other great american indicas like grandaddy, romulan, williams wonder, deep chunk, bullrider, sour bubble/dmt, nepal kush, dosidos, norcal goo, matanuska thunderfuck, grape krush, afgooey. all will give better taste than using dutch NL5.

Great post Maha :tiphat:
I found an amazing pheno in my OG x oBoy line that blew me away on terps (and effects.)
The taste was STRONG Orange and Pine. Coated the mouth and the exhale was just delicious.
If it didn't reduce my brain to a brick, it would have been my favorite smoke of all time ;-)

I think your instincts on hybrids are really good.
You mentioned my Chem 4 x oBoy cross in an earlier post. That's something I wish everyone could try.
Dr. Purpur has done some amazing work over the years. I remember when he combined OG and Mango. He was talking to Nev all the time back then. I still want to smoke that stuff he posted :)

Raho, I believe you that it was super tasty. and yes, if I want to grow something like that I would choose your chem4haze over NL5haze. I am sure.

one thing is intensity of taste and another thing is palette. not every hybrids, despite its intensity, have such rich palette as good haze. haze is maybe colombian hybrid, but there are other components which makes it special and more rich terps. when outcrossed this wide palette can be lost easily. great hybrid is the one that has not only intensity, but palette too imo. I mean it is not so hard to choose haze male which brings the potency. but palette I see it very problematic with males. and using haze female in this case, it seems more easier way to keep terps palette in hybrid.
