I don't use Canna products. I use House and Garden and I do pretty much go by the chart on their site. I do go on the 'aggressive' program during late veg and flower.

I see a lot of confusion on this thread about coco, pH, Calcium and Magnesium.
#1 - What changes the pH of the coco during a grow is not the pH of the water that you put in, but the total alkalinity in the water.
#2 - You can counteract the whole Calcium / CEC issue by pre-treating the coco with a calcium nitrate solution or a nutrient solution with extra calcium in it. Or also probably just by using extra calcium in the first few feedings. The CEC is more overblown than need be.
#3 - Ca is Calcium. Mg is Magnesium. CaMg+ is the name of a popular additive that supplies both.
#4 - If you are using tap water and having problems with the grow, but think the water is ok because you change the pH after adding fertilizer than refer to #1 and think again. Pet stores and hardware stores with pond depts. sell the inexpensive water test kits that include alkalinity along with pH and everything else. Buy one, test your water, if it's high than you need to filter, it's as simple as that. No amount of pH down can cure high alkalinity.

Quickly realizing 49 plants in 5g containers might be a bit unworkable to hand water as they will be about 2.5-3.5 ft tall before they are flipped. Right now they are hand watered to about 5% runoff into individual trays and the runoff dumped. Four days between waterings is working great at their present size in the 5g pots.
I'm being tutored by a guy who hand waters to 5-10% run off and leaves the runoff to dry or evaporate in the individual trays under each pot. Using house/garden drip clean he claims it doesn't really matter getting rid of the run off, i.e. he doesn't have problems with salt build up. Not a smoker, but his product is very well received with a two week flush.
I'm finding this advice a bit hard to believe. I'm guessing he must go really easy on the nutes and could yield more if he gave them more nutes and did a better run off routine.
Setting up a drip system, planning on doing one feeding a day on a timer. Just the nature of the beast and the time demands of the rest of my life.
My questions are:
1. Would a thorough flush once a week done by hand with 50% or so run off keep the salts in check? Its easy to get a block of time, harder to get an hour or two a day..
2. Any recommendations for what to flush with? Would weak p.h.ed nutes be more effective than plain p.h.ed water?
3. Is watering with little run off and letting it evap in individual trays such a bad idea that a weekly flush won't make much difference? Should the trays be scrapped in favor of a proper run to waste system?

I do not dump run off. But i do clean the dish every now and then. I use H202 with every watering and it helps to keep the water in the dish fresher. If the run off water starts to smell even a bit you have to clean the dish immediately! I'm feeding 6/9 GH Micro and bloom + some additives and i do not flush my plants - only exception is if they start to look unhealthy. Also plants have water available - sort of basic underfeed pot. I do encourage you to cover the top of the dish to make it even better but everything is going to be alright if the water is used by the plant in 1-1,5 days. Also you can see if there is any concentration of nutrients on the dish just by looking it - dried nutrients leave stains and salts.

I have good results using FloraKleen by General Hydroponics. It's a final flushing agent that you mix with water, but I use it approx. every 1.5-2 weeks throughout my whole grow.
When I flush them, the next day I give them nutes, to make sure they aren't without food for too long.
It gives me results like this:

Feeling better about this then. Figure a good drip once a day won't be much different than a hand water. Just adjust the timer as plants need more water.
I can hand water the flush and do run off into a rubbermaid. I'm realizing it might be difficult to do with 5ft monsters though. I'm afraid lifting the plants a couple inches could break branches, especially if they are tied up.
Even though they look good I think putting an 8in clone directly into a 5g pot maybe too large a jump...they do look good though..

so i am new grower ,i am 33 years old and i use cannabis as a medicine, i did my first grow few months ago in soil, i use all mix soil and hesi soil starter kit ,i grow 5 northern lights lady's ,under 600watt hid lamp ,i was impressed with my harvest ,i get 400 grams dry medicine
now i moved to hot country for my health and started a new grow ,this time stealth grow in closet which i build myself ,all the setup took me 3 days ,i was really in hurry because i need my medicine fast ,
i grow currently only 3 BIG BUD girls from seed ,in biobizz light mix soil ,i am using 3 liter air-pots and biobizz full range nutes, the girls do fine so far ,they are 36 days old and 1 week in flower ,one week ago i start notice yellowing leaves and ask in forum for help ,so i met this very nice guy his name is Scrogerman ,he helped me a lot and tell me about coco ,so he planted a seed in my head about coco grow ,he show me few threads with bonecarver_OG , i just keep reading and cant stop ,so my next grow will be definitely in coco
please help me with advice

i want to say that the pots i use are amazing ,i win 2weeks growth compared to regular bigger pots ,so if anyone want to cut the growth time, buy them ,for sure ,the plants love them

I use Bionova Gh-Bloom 5ml per Gallon and no problems.or the Three part nearly Lukas-Formula-a but more PK in Flower
Canna Coco A+b + Pk works fine for me . Tap Water. No Ingredients.Just ph down from GHE
Tap is about 7,2b ph and nearly 0,8 EC European Conversion.

I use biobizz coco right out of the bag and don't wash or add anything to it. I don't know what Hesi is?
PH should be 5.7 to 6.0. Water daily, not like in soil when it is dry. treat it like hydro by keeping coco wet to moist all the time.

IMHO there's no need for drip clean. I hand water with little to no run off, and whatever does run off stays in the drip tray. I start in flower with 1000 ppm's and go to 1300 in late flower. Flush the last 2 weeks.
Never had a problem with salt buildup and my girls get huge! I run House and Garden Cocos A/B with some Flora Nova and Big Up Powder, in 3 gallon pots with straight Cocotek coco. Just pulled a Sour D that is prob gonna yeild 5 or 6 zips. Everything is healthy. No problems whatsoever.
I bought drip clean because people said its necessary but have yet to use it. Waste of money. Not saying it doesn't work but it's not really needed.

Are you watering full strength with your H&G nutes? I'm growing in roots organic soilless coco with H&G's full line and am having a variety of different issues (something different every grow it seems). Thinking about cutting back on the strength of my nutes.

I have five plants in 1 gallon pots, in a 2x2 tent, and trying to empty out the water from the trays is a major pain in the butt. Actually, it's almost impossible, because the trays are flexible, and will twist and spill water when lifted. Also, it's hard to get to the ones in the back.

One good (not perfect) solution is to use a big sponge to soak it up. Some people use shop-vacs to suck it up, too. The best way, it seems, is to elevate the pots, on a shelf or individually, so you can just let gravity put the runoff where you direct it.

I went to Lowes and bought a 5gl bucket and a wet shop vacuum that fits right on top for $22
Works great for run off. Much better than the turkey baster I used to use!

cocotek coco, perlite, hydroton. AN sensi ab grow/bloom, bud candy, big bud. hand watered about every 2-3 days with 10-20% runoff with nutes every watering. i have a little table that i put a tray ( 3x3 rabbit cage tray haha) with a drain hole and just let the runoff drain into 5 gallon cat litter buckets of all things. heres some shots.... first one is vanilla kush, second is my veg.... pineapple chunk, lemon skunk. last 2 are the flower tent.... all PPP cuts. i see another flower tent in my future
