If the sap is high brix the plant can survive a frost. I don't know to what degree below freezing but I've had broccoli survive what I think was a 20 degree F night.
Hope you big plant people pulled it all in safely. The monsoons just started at my place.
Its like being a millonaire...it helps to start with high brix. Maintaing everything except nitrate can actually make brix go up
woh cool.Hi Jenn,
I've played with a lot of different soil recipes over the years, 1rst year new soil mixes, as well as yearly additives. Here's a very simple mix that is well proven and I am comfortable recommending for those large outdoor containers. It gives about 50 cubic feet or just over 300 gallons (dry U.S), and fills a 6ft diameter container to a depth of about 18inches - perfectly.
25 bags black gold potting soil (1.5cf ea)
4 bags stutzman farms chicken manure (1 cf ea)
1 bag perlite (4 cf ea)
1 bag (50 lbs) bonemeal (steamed, not precipitated)
1/2 bag gypsum (aprox 1/2 cf) - Edit -> 1/2 of a 40 lb bag (20lbs).
Mix well, water thoroughly, let rest for 2-3 weeks minimum, transplant, and stand back
Best Regards,
Tom

I think a lot of the big seed companies get their seeds from illegal guerilla grows instead I know the strain hunters do, that bud they produce looks horrible in their videos, aside from private growers in Cali, & Oregon who really take time learning how breed and come up with their own strains and genetics. My buddy grew some outdoor space bomb that blew indoor weed out the door any day. Peace outdoor growers. Best bud around.To be honest its not just Cali with better genetics but alot of places, I for one don't trust any of the big name seed companies because between me and a group of friends we've ordered 100 strains from various companies and most are borderline bunk mediocre strains.
Alot of thier genetics are watered down from the USA, Skunk #1, G-13,Bubblegum,ect, and now soon to be all the chems,og, bubba, and other kushes. I have quite a few "Homeboys" with gear that blows big seed banks clear out of the water.
The only thing that would interest me from a seed bank these days is some rare landrace genetics that you have to work a bit to find your own gems.
