If I may opine on the quality of the trim... I like it cleaner than that. I know HB, like the SD, can have an unseemly "y" stem on it, but that nug just looks a bit hairy for my taste.

If you're gonna hand trim (especially if you are going to pay for it to be hand trimmed, you might as well go the distance.

We just took down the first plants from the dep... Cannot wait to start smoking the freshly cured.

funny that you would say that. the last picture i recall you posting from your light deprive last season was a bud of master kush that looked like it was pulled 2 weeks early and was just as leafy. excuse me while i adjust to the dynamic of this thread.

Personally, I like to leave my headstash pretty leafy. Those little leaves droop down and end up wrapping the bud in a sort of natural cocoon, protecting the trichome heads from light, ect. I clean my herb up a bit before I smoke it, cracks me up when other ppl don't....



On another note....anybody try adding coffee grounds? I've been looking into it recently, there are a small number of videos on youtube about it. The one that interests me the most is the giant sunflowers, dude uses HELLA coffe grounds in his compost, but the pile they show is relatively new/ not compost yet. There is also another video where a guy is using the grounds straight, as a top dressing. I have a bit saved up from the local starbucks, I put a sprinkle on some of my ganja. They seem to dig it thus far, but I think I'll keep it light on them. I did however toss a heavy layer on some worn out, root bound, clinging to the egde of life eggplant I forgot about for awhile. And to my surprise, instead of finishing them off by turning soil to acidic, they actually started growing again. New flowers and all.

You can have up to 25% used grounds in your compost, they loose alot of the acidity after they are brewed. Great source of N, I would let it breakdown some, rather then a topdress.

10/80/10% clear/cloudy/amber according to notes. That's generally the rule of thumb around here. edit: she went 59 days. Just short of 9 weeks. Maybe a little earlier than it would come down inside, but I believe that the intensity of full sun speeds things just a bit in terms of the maturation of trichomes from clear to amber.

The only thing that came down early from the boxes was the Sour D. I was told it was a 62 day Sour D and I took that on faith. Several people have taken it past 70 and the results have made it obvious. I am going to put up shade cloth at 65 days and let her go till 73 or so... maybe longer with the shade.

GD, I would love to compare this to your vetted ECSD cut... the sample you had last year came down at 62 days... I'll have some finished for you to taste in a few weeks.

We've taken some full season plants down early because of weather, but better structure in our trellising would have prevented us from having to do that. This year's t-posts should do the trick if the bad weather comes before things are finished.... but based on what seems to have triggered when this year everything that is not under cover will be down by then.

I posted two pics after light dep last year. The other is slightly rougher, but very similar. I think it was of some bubba. I don't mind a little shagginess as long as the shag is from tiny sugar coated leaves and not bigger ones that have been half-scissored and left behind all ragged.

I'd rather have them sheathed in whole leaves too...I think they get a great cure that way... cuts down on the bag appeal, though.

I think that the intensity of the sun is rushing the maturation of the outermost trichomes... over-ripening on the surface while still maturing slowly deeper into the flower... I think that some shade, especially during part of the day might help even out the ripening and keep the greasy sour fuel flavor from turning the corner toward... musty. Indoor SD always has a more pure greasy sour flavor compared to the outdoor and black box SD I have grown and sampled. But today at 60 days, there is no trace of the disparity... something causes the OD to turn the corner toward an almost musty quality... I think that less intensity in the final 10-12 days of ripening may be the solution.

the picture im referring to is much less mature/frosty. the only way i can identify it beyond that is i remember justalilrowdy username saying they couldn't wait to try it in direct response. the nugget you posted just now is night/day compared to what i was referring to. either way that was a useless post by me attempting to defend dr p when it wasn't my spot to do so.

The ecsd cuts I'm running are beasts and I'm impressed with the vigor. Will keep a jar with your name on it for sure.
From what I've seen from other growers the ecsd can finish pretty larfy outdoors. I'm planning on feeding em hard so hopefully that won't be the case for me.
I'll snap some pics of my ecsd plants and post em later.

The SD I run can be larfy full season but kills in the deps. I have one in the dome that will go the long season. I am going to put a 1000w HPS on it from early October till its done around Thanksgiving.

do they have the light green growth beacause of a recent rich compost tea feed? ive had alot of light new growth during a strong ctfeed. the structure is beautiful.
