The Grow Cube Hydroponic Unit

I think i'm going with Hydro-Port Watering Manifold. They each have 8 sites hook up. I'm thinking about 7 tubes with 6 sites per a tube. So, i'm looking at 42 grow sites per a unit. It all depends on, if i go with 4" PVC or 3" PVC. If i go with 3" PVC then i might add a extra tube and bump up the grow sites to 48 total. I'll post tomorrow afternoon and what i decided on. I've got the bug now, lolol

I wonder if the ABS plastic fittings are sold at lowes or home depot? I didn't remember seeing them, but then again. I wasn't looking for them. I guess i'll give them a look, but i'm looking at the 3" pipe. I just think the 4" is just to big. I can always go bigger later on.

what do you mean by fittings?
do you mean the plant-sites? the "Y" (aka "wye") fittings and end-caps?

or do you mean the fittings for the plumbing (feedlines, etc) ...?

I meant the wye fittings. I'm going to run back up there and see what they got. If they don't have the ABS black stuff. I guess i'm stuck with the higher costing white stuff.

Sorry, to hear about the Godzuki's. I'm guessing you had some problems. I was really looking forward to those, but safety comes first. I've got the last of the seeds i'm going to grow those out and see what i find. I just hope all is well with you.

Ok, here's what i got so far. Can't find the rest of the stuff needed till monday. I'm missing one manifold head. The 45 degree Y fitting and some PVC 3" pipe. One pump to supply the system and some net pots. It's coming together with the supplys.

each 4-cooler system (about total 5x5 floor space) would do best IMO with 3 400w HID Lamps. 2 HPS and 1 MH. If you do an octagon tho 2 1000w or 3 600w would be best. we are talking max output out of a grow room possible. a friend got 3.9 grams per watt average last run in the cube. and it was his first time with the strain.

that bnew wall garden system looks cool as hell and pretty much like what i had dreamed up to build in terms of being individual sides that open up(i stole the idea from the octagro lol) as the plants grow.... If i wasnt dead set on building my Rockwool slab design knockoff id be doing this.....

no he didnt use a 5x5 setup. he uses a bought system (the 144-site grow cube). and he only ran (2) 600w HPS on digital ballasts in a 60" cooltube.
do the math 1200watts. 4680grms. 10+ p's off just two six hundred watt bulbs!...

Hey Harry, not to worry. I should have the unit together and running by this sunday. If all goes well and it's looking like it. I'll start a construction thread this weekend also. Thanks for the kind words and you take care.

ethereal, those are some nice numbers. I'm going to run 2 600HPS Grolux in my unit and see what they do. I like the 600's over the 1000's, but if the yield isn't what i'm looking for. I'll bump up the light output. I think 2 600's with four units in a square should ROCK. That's going to be 24 grow site's per a unit and a total of 96 grow sites total. Should be fun for sure. By the way, could you post that picture again. For some reason it's not showing up.

Yup, i'm back at it again. Should be putting this first one together this weekend. Just got to pickup the Wye fittings or the Y fittings and alittle bit of pipe. Shouldn't take to long, since i've got everthing else. Just alittle drilling with the hole saw and the chop saw for some straight cuts, so everything is nice and straigh and even. Should be a cool unit. Once i get this one together and bugs worked out. I'll build three more units to make a full cube and a "Holding Unit" for Rez change. I'll explain the holding unit later. Thanks, again for all the nice words.

its possible to pump the rez. out, or run them off a single reservoir if you want.
