big scavengers, I can sometimes find 5 of them on a roadside deer carcass up here. I know where they hunt, fly, and nest for the most part, at least 6 or 7 pair along certain roads I take; a couple right along actual highways, the others along the back roads and one nest directly above & along the shoreline of a small private lake I used to get permission to fish on.
You'd get used to seeing them active in an area and recognize this as their home turf, 5 or 6 miles away would start to define another pair's home grounds. On 3 different occasions I watched bald eagles do the mating dance where they lock talons together and tumble downward, then just breaking apart in time to safely soar up again & repeat the ritual.......
