The fairy tale of Haschenputtel - Cinderella 99 x Dank Sinatra F4 - Selecting + Breeding

I have adjusted the change of plan slightly, by the way. :D
Instead of five Dank Sinatra girls, I put my four faves (#1+14+19+23) and my Cinderella 99 with Lucky 13. They are now on the outpost, next to DS#15's heavily pregnant Cinderella, and are about to have their first night.

I still cut backup cuttings from Lucky 13, hopefully at least one of them will root. After a bit of snipping my fingers were already sticky, the boy really combines good qualities.

I have a really good feeling. Don't yell about it now.

As soon as the plants have recovered a bit from the selection boot camp, I'll take some pictures. If I show them now, you might think I've lost my mind, the way they currently look. This is due to deliberately bad treatment, but from the outside it's hard to understand how I determined my favourites like this. I'm currently thinking about how many seeds I've already thrown in the water to find a partner for my C99 who will be a worthy father for Haschenputtel. The Dank Sinatra could end my search.

To be able to have so many plants flowering at the same time on the outpost, I made something new - similar to my hydro pot, only a bit bigger. Super simple and cheap, so should work. I'll show it then too.

Unsorted thoughts:

Mother for Haschenputtel line B will be DS #1/5/11/19/23/30. DS #1+23 are currently my favourites. DS #19 is in 3rd place, as I don't like the spacing of the nodes as much as DS #1+23. DS #30 is the only one that has not been allowed to flower yet, so it will have to prove itself in a later run together with the other candidates. Then the final decision will be made as to who will be the mother for Haschenputtel Line B. Before the choice is made, I would like to evaluate the candidates when they start flowering as more uniform cuttings, so that they all had the same chance. That's why DS #5+11 also get another go. Since each DS was pollinated with C99 pollen, the Haschenputtel seeds are already safe. So there will be several A-lines, and the one with the best mother will be B1. Maybe I'll do an incross before I continue with the line. The same applies to Haschenputtel line A. Since I will let all the remaining DS males (#2+7+9+13+21) flower out individually anyway, several A lines will be created. Currently DS #13 is flowering, next will be DS #21.
Dank Sinatra F5 will have many mothers, at least two of the above-mentioned DS #1+5+11+19+23+30 as well as DS #6+14. With DS #6+14 another phenotype comes into play, all in all I distinguish two main phenos. On the one hand branched with a good flower-leaf ratio, on the other hand growing close to the stem with a high trichome density.

What an ugly wall of text …

My guilty conscience about the ugly wall of text has driven me to the cellar. The seventh week of flowering is drawing to a close.

They don't need much longer, but they can still welcome the new year.

The seeds are ripe, the Cinderella pollinated by the hermaphroditic DS #15 has just been felled.

Now there is still Lucky 13 with a few of its sisters and a C99 at the outpost. I have already harvested some pollen and will tap more from Lucky, who so far has left no doubt about his manhood. He is allowed to flower out to make sure he doesn't hermaphrodite towards the end either.

Dank Sinatra # 13 aka Lucky is a true pollen slinger.

The next guy to flower is Dank Sinatra #9, but he will have to wait until mid-February.

The most important tests on the girls' effect, smell, taste and yield are still pending, but there is a lot to be said for Dank Sinatra #23. The illuminated one.

I miss my Dank Sinatra, I lost it when I was in the hospital, 7 surgeries later I am still kicking my ass on that loss

Damn! That sucks. All the best for your health.
One of the reasons I do this is to help family and friends with good medicine. I wish I could give you some seeds, I have tons of Dank Sinatra F5.

I like your theory about male plants showing female flowers not necessarily being the "bad" type of herm

They had braved bitter cold and desert heat, exhausting hunger and unhealthy excess, lonely expanses and oppressive confinement, produced enticingly fragrant glue, brightly coloured clothes and fascinatingly glittering jewellery, prepared magnificent hairstyles, created golden stardust, and even had to demonstrate mystical magic powers. There were too many tests to mention them all. The siblings from the House of Sinatra had mastered all the challenges that had been thrown at them incessantly with flying colours, and finally the time had come to crown the winners.

Dank Sinatra - Buds.jpg

Prince Cinderello was particularly taken with three of the ladies, Illuminata, who was truly convincing in all disciplines, Ultima, who had risen like Phoenix from the ashes after struggling so much at the beginning, and Edelweiß, who stood a little shy and inconspicuous between her sisters, but did not bear her name unjustly and proved to be a true virtuoso of scented glue.

Among the gentlemen were also three whom Princess Cinderella considered worthy after having been so bitterly disappointed by her first crush: Lucky, Teleios and Ataraktos. Imposingly draped, they proudly stretched their strong arms towards the sky and showed themselves from their best side.

The decision was visibly difficult for Prince and Princess, because even those from the House of Sinatra who did not emerge as winners were fitting representatives of their family. Together they celebrated a lavish feast that lasted several days. To crown it all, a breathtaking fireworks display was set off.

When the smoke had cleared and everyone had returned home, the prince and princess made use of their magic powers and sent their images out into the world together with the victors. Thrilling adventures and great tasks awaited the newlyweds. Soon their offspring would aspire to greater things. Full of confidence, they looked forward side by side to a glorious future.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Yes, I wanted to take pictures. But I also wanted to finish. You tend to forget how much work it is until you start. When the first plant was cut out of the grid, the branches were examined. Which one would be representative? Photograph it with leaves, then carefully trim it and photograph it again. The day before, I had even put together a small mini photo studio. While I was plucking the first branch, my eyes fell on the clock. This dampened my enthusiasm enormously. I would never finish like that. Let he who has never been out of the mood cast the first stone. Dried buds are much nicer anyway.

A few words about the ladies:
  • Edelweiß (DS #16): Those who know the pretty little plant with the delicate white down can guess why I named her that. Flower/leaf ratio good, extreme trichome coverage. Most intense fragrance, highest potency. Yield: 82 % -> B1
  • Illuminata (DS #23): The name is self-explanatory. Best flower-to-leaf ratio, very good trichome coverage. In terms of scent and potency just behind its sister Edelweiß. Yield: 156 % -> B2
  • Ultima (DS #19): The last one got the biggest and struggled to the front. Flower-to-leaf ratio good, trichome coverage also good. Fragrance sweeter than her sisters and otherwise a bit out of line. Yield: 229 % -> B3
  • DS #1: It is quite similar to Ultima, but loses out in a direct comparison. Yield: 250 % -> Haschenputtel no, F5 yes.
  • DS #5: Affectionately called Stumpi, because of hardly any stretch and especially short internodes. Yield: 144 % -> Haschenputtel no, F5 yes.
  • DS #14: Its unfavourable flower-to-leaf ratio does not fit the target. Yield: 136 % -> Haschenputtel no, F5 yes.
  • DS #4+6+10+11+25+26+32: Do not fit the target for various reasons. Haschenputtel no, F5 no.
  • DS #30: She has not yet been allowed to show what she is made of, but will get another chance.
In order to compare the yield, the buds were trimmed moist and dried down so that the humidity in the closed jar was a maximum of 60 %. The total weight of the harvest of all Dank Sinatra was divided by the number of them and the average was set at 100 %. The C99, which were in the tent together with the DS, yielded an average of 89 % in comparison.

The gentlemen should also not go unmentioned:
  • Lucky (DS #13): Provided with this lucky number and as the first profiteer from the failure of his brother DS #15, he can't be called anything else. Nice structure with good side arm formation and delicious scent. Sticky too. -> A3
  • Teleios (DS #9): The number 9 stands for perfection, and this boy grows at least as nicely as Lucky. He resembles him also in other positive characteristics, but produces pollen even more abundantly and has more colour. -> A1
  • Ataraktos (DS #21): Unwavering, he is the only DS male under 24/0 not to go into flower. Here and there an isolated pollen sac, but nothing compared to his brothers. I haven't seen him flower yet, but already recognise something special in him. -> A2
  • DS #2+7: Do not fit the target for various reasons. Pollen has been frozen. Haschenputtel no, F5 yes.
  • DS #15: Since he hermaphrodite, he is neither eligible for Haschenputtel, nor for F5. Father of Haschenputtel*in.

Of course, other criteria also play a role, such as effect, structure, vitality, stretch, resistance to drought, heat, cold and food stress and the ability to deliver cuttings.

And very important: the feeling must fit. 💘

Nice one.

Little update from my side:
A friend of mine germinated more than 80 seeds made with the hermaphrodite male until now and he is pretty satisfied. As he culls all males I have no more infos about them but the females stay female without any hermaphrodite traits.
