Hup : One. I've never been a fan of multiple plants in the same pot.

edit after taking a second look: Though it very much does look like two, its one lol.

Noonin : Yes. I like to mulch all my clippings on there.

Hey EPIC, I used to lurk around the large plant thread until they closed it and haven't really been back around icmag since. There is a lot of "novice experts" on here so it makes it hard to filter through, but I did find a few growers that I've learned to respect...you included. I don't share much information because I haven't felt like I could contribute anything meaningful yet, but I'm finding myself more and more capable these days, so look out for my 2 cents! I wanna thank you for continuing the information share and contributing positively to the community.

Looks like you came up on a beautiful spot up there in OR! I can relate to the stresses of new beginnings you've been dealing with. It takes some time, and some fuck ups, to really figure out your setup. Sucks to have your soil company not deliver what you were expecting... Been there too. I learned that one last year and actually dealt with another issue this year, but learned to get before and after delivery soil tests and that saved my ass this year. Got a fucked up batch, but had fire power to help me get it right, and with some help from the company we made it right. It did set me back a couple weeks on planting but we got the right amendments in there and the ladies are sure showing appreciation. Those soil tests go a long way my man, but definitely have to be sure to get a few good samples in and try to get a clear picture that you can have faith in.

I've got a drip system set up too, in 400s, but you sure do water heavier than I do. I'm not saying I'm watering more or less efficiently, but it is interesting to see different methods and how the plants react to them. Yours seem to be drinking it. My soil doesn't dry out as fast so I can't imagine going with more than 20-30 gallons every 3 days or so. I also barely used my drip system until like 3 weeks after transplant. I gave the pots a good full drink once a week, but I had to keep up with the main root ball of the plants every day or so at that time, before the roots really stretched out and started drinking from new sources. Just my 2 cents on that.

Oh dude, those russet/broad mites hit my area hard this year. Been hearing just about everyone spotting them in their gardens. Funny thing is that they've hit everyone's BDs first. Weird. I read that they thrive in 60-70 degrees and sort of related a cool weather spell to the outbreak I found them too but haven't resulted to any drastic miticides yet. First thing I did was*remove everything that showed the slightest bit of damage. Then sprayed with asprin, a foliar fertilizer, and topped them off with compost tea foliar. That was all with the idea of building them up and increasing biodiversity. I also went ahead and introduced some predator mites and lacewings to help fight in my army. I'm not gonna say that I've won the war yet, but we're definitely keeping them at bay cause I really haven't found anymore of that knotted terminal node. I read that like sulfur will really help too, so my idea is to keep oils off the plants til we get a cool spell that will surely give them an edge and at that time apply the sulfur. If I did it now I'd fry everything with this heat. I'll keep you updated on that if you're interested, but hopefully you won't spot the little fuckers up in yournew neck.

On that note though, when you experienced them last year did you see any older big fan leaf tips curling slightly, before the breakout on the new growth? I'm curious..

Anyways, I hope you're strapped in for the fall weather cause I'm sure you've heard about the storms we're supposed to have. Praying to the gods that it stays delayed until after harvest, but gotta be prepared nonetheless. Did you end up deciding on remesh cages? I'm doing two layers of that with the hortinova on top too. And keeping a big roll on deck for the monsters that continue to grow and figure I'll drape those with extra netting if they need it.

I'll leave you with that. I know this is a long post, but I wanted to get a good introduction in. Keep keepin it real and may goodness be on your side.

Right on man, thanks for stopping in. I'm battling a pretty decent russet and BM infestation. Had to resort to using some miticides in rotation while still in veg. Going forward I will continue to use PFR-97 throughout flower, maybe some other organic treatments that don't run 1,000 for a gallon of snake oil. The first signs I noticed this year has been some dry taco fan m leaves lower down the infected branch, followed by new bright green twisted growth. Even After the bugs are gone, the effects of the toxins seem to linger on older growth.

Got my second layer of cages in on the big girls, and they're starting to bust through. Also the crew is almost done building the shop, so I should be dry g like a pro this fall.

Stellar dude! Those babies have really filled out those 800s! I'm working on getting my cages up too, but I was afraid to mount them up like that cause I'm worried about them slipping eventually. That's probably out of ignorance n paranoia. Instead I'm measuring them to just smaller than the circumference of the pot, placing them inside right at the edge, 4x 10' bamboos at the corners, with a layer of netting at the top of the bamboos. I realize I'll have a gap between the cage and the net, so maybe I'll wrap some netting around that gap. They'll probably outgrow all that, but I'm hoping it'll do.

Shitty to hear about the mites! Fuck those little fuckers! Where do you think you picked em up? I swear they're dropping those things out of the sky (jk...sorta..) That PFR looks promising. I've seen that image of the fungus completely engulfing the mite. Bad ass fungi. I want them on my team! I'm kinda expecting those little fuckers to resurface when conditions better for them. That's when I'll bomb em with sulfur. Hopefully not too far into flower..

Word up about your dry room. I'd be interested in hearing what you got going on. I think I remember seeinga pic of some tents you used last year? How'd that turn out for you? Were you monitoring temps and humidity in any special way? I don't really have much structure nor power for any perfect rooms, so I'm gonna be doing something similar with the tents.. any pointers?

Keep it up man! Much respect

Garden is filling out well! Sorry to hear about the mite problem. That's why regular inspections have to be done. You want to catch it before it spreads.

Its hard to believe how wide these plants get! Got that 10' cage up at just the right time. I've never seen them secured up on the stakes like that. Excellent idea! Wire it up!

Beautiful, healthy garden. Keep up the good work. Keep thinking ahead. Thanks for sharing with us!

Shop is a 40x72 metal building. Haven't finished the the plans for my dry space, but it will utilize Para cord and turnbuckles creating stacks of dry lines similar to my tent drying last year. I'll see m if I can dig up a good photo of that for you. Its better than most, but it' has its draw backs. I large permanent structure is definitely the way to go.

Thanks man! We used fence clips to secure them to thenposts.... worked like a charm. Very secure.

those cages are fuckin sweet. why did you choose that instead of nets?

Last year my big plants nearly topped over. I had to ratchet strap my vertical bamboo supports back to T posts just to keep my plants from falling forward. I just figured if I'm going to try and grow bigger plants than la st season, I better have a better way of keeping them vertical when the gnarly oregon weatherhits.

Thanks bud, I think it should be a pretty good year. We've added in a whole new grow plan and so far so good.

Killer thread. Are you that Elvis Presley guy on IG?

yea that'd be me. I move a lot, and every year neighbors laugh at my cage trellis , and every year they all lose plants when netting fails. I don't trust plastic to hold up beasts. Not netting and certainly not zip ties.

those green globes are looking great really bushing out, are you gonna do the top hat trellis thing on those remesh outer cages too? thats one of my main tasks this week, still debating between just t-post/bamboo and netting which worked pretty good last year, or go with remesh outer cages like yours. hate it when shit fails though, had a couple zip ties snap, maybe just double up?
