Nice thread. I just started some Zacateca Tributes and they show purpling even on the baby stems and emerging first leaves.

MAHA KALA Very nice!

I was able to self #1. Don't have much experience growing S1s. Really surprised at the uniformity of the three I popped, and just how much they resemble the early leaf look/formation of #1. I had expected more diversity... maybe later in flower.

Should be interesting to see how they develop. :ying:

Thanks friend! I am happy with how they’re doing. Interesting that #1 regardless whether wet or dry has less than supporting petioles allowing for the droopy fans - a neat look, I think. And I am curious if there’s anything to be said for the more exaggerated serrations, almost sawtooth like, particularly on the big fan leaves. A known trait for a particular var, or region?

#1 is really stretching out. She’s front and center with #2 to the left. Spindly branching on both but more so on #1. As they are now they won't be able to support much weight. The pics are ten days from flip. Hoping she doesn’t stretch too much more.

Looking very stretchy for sure. Some kind soul gifted me some of these but it might be a little bit before I can try them. ;)

Ah, yeah, the inherent problem with seeds, seeds, and more seeds... intrigue, time and space. ;)

#1 is very stretchy indeed. If she doesn't slow down I will have to take to bending and tying in some form or fashion or move her more off to the side. She's still working on stretching instead of setting flower whereas her sister #2 seems to now be more concentrated on setting flower. But she still stretched a good deal herself. It doesn't translate so well in the pics but her fans are very dark. Won't be surprised to see them finish with dark coloring.

Here's a 70s Mazari in California, i don't know its precise date and source? End 70s i guess...

About the end 60s for sure no document but it was the start of the Flower Power vibes and the first hippies just started to come back from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India etc... End 60s start 70s i think that Afghan genetics started and landed in few Californian hands..Of course they used to smoke South or Central Americans strains like Mexican, Colombian or Jamaican before but the birth of the modern breeding in America started thanks to Afghanni prior imho.

Exception sativa lover and pionner breeder is DJ Short yes, big respect!

If you watch Murder Mountain on Netflix, you can see the old hippie go through his old photos and one says 1968 first Hindu Kush Afghan.
Also, BOEL says they started working with Affy in 1968
It seems to me these guys back in the day were much more close-knit than breeders today and so they freely shared/sold seed to each other. So if Afghan came into the US in 1968, but that Fall it was all over Oregon and California.

Hi Guys I still have the Danbo original BSHW in my collection and will certainly release it again the biggest issue with the BSHW is many people talk about how wonderful it is and how they want to grow it and I never Charged insane money for the strain but it was never close to being a great selling strain .
Not that this dictates my keeping it alive but that is the truth of the matter , I can tell instantly if a plant is BSHW as it has a very unique structure and leaf formation .
The strain is certainly a Classic I have struggled to keep her going for going on 2 decades .
I have also sold a a few packs over the years to many people so without question many of the hybrids floating around are real and potentially in pure form .
I have seen some strains being sold as BSHW that in no way resemble what I have carried on from Danbo .
I have a new facility in the Caribbean that is dedicated to genetics preservation of all of my collection and much much more , I am currently working in Colombia and will start on the new Farm in march .
I will share as much content of my preservation of heritage and heirloom and other with everyone as I can I just ask that we all play nice and treat one another with the same level of respect we would if we were touring each others gardens in real Time .

This new Facility is the culmination of a lifetime of work its really something to behold and I am eager to share my passion and love for the plant in its many forms with everyone !
Some of my newer works are for sale at Real gorilla / Seedbay .
Much much more work is forthcoming I hope you all enjoy them please let me know if I can help you in anyway

I still have a massive bag of f2s from this line but not sure if they will pop now. Got to have had them for 8 or 9 years. If anyone has a fool proof way of germinating old beans, DM me

BSHW just sounds like good dope. I want to grow some.

it is unique meditative smoke. nice breeding tool too... I used as it has remarkable long duration effect for hybrid like that... that is the quality I appreciate the most on it. on the other hand I hate how it is leafy and also terps are very mild, not loud at all... those are negatives.

there are som crosses of it out there, like green crack x bshw or zkittles x bshw, but it seems there is only marginal interest in it...
