The DEFINITIVE OG Kush History

Looks like the s1 Tahoe that floats around. I honestly think that's even better than what people call the Tahoe. And just by the leaf late in flower it reminds me a lot of Resins Kush. Does this grow just like the Ghost or other OGs or is it a bit more compact? Whatever it is, it's proper OG that's for sure.

I have roots on Tahoe, Ghost and Bohdi's Pinesoul cut that I am going to put into a grouped planter just to get the quickest look possible while I veg my other cuts out. Probably flip as soon as they perk up and put them in the seed spot for a looksy. Gonna put one of the pre98 Bubbas in there maybe a couple more and just do the main top shoots out mini SOG.

Think I have room for 2 pots so will try to do 3 in each. My seed round of f13 is almost done anyway.

Well clumsy me pulled the ghost cut out of the baggie by the top and torn off the only apparent root so that one wont be in on the test unfortunately. Got Pinesol, Tahoe and the Pre98 Bubba Kush in a 2 gallon. I'll put the Fat AL, Mendo Purp and Chem D in another tomorrow.

BTY OG clones available near LAX at the artist tree dispensary. I just saw two trays with my own eyes. Happy hunting.
I don't understand this. This cut is over thirty years old and it's like chasing rare Pokemon cards. It has to be everywhere, yet it's nowhere. I mean you just stumbled on two trays, what does everyone do with these cuts?

PCG keeps this in their collection and they vend clones via licensed retailers.

They had BTY OG, Zushi and gmo x gush mints.

These things happen all the time and you just need to be in the right place at the right time.

It used to be everywhere in the dispensaries - but, now it's rare to find in dispensaries.

PCG seems to let out real classic clones maybe at a rate of one per year, at least in the dispensaries I follow - the rest are the clones they created or a relatively newer creation of someone else they've partnered with.

Four years ago it was Sour Diesel. Year after that it was Zkittlez. Two years ago it was Super Lemon Haze.

Maybe this year's PCG classic original clone release is the OG Kush clone - but, BTY OG may not be that clone. PCG calls it an "OG Kush pheno" - which would be consistent with it being a re-naming of the original OG Kush cut, which I believe are the genetically identical, but phenotypically distinct Tahoe, Ghost and Josh D cuts in today's labeling. But, just calling the BTY OG an OG Kush pheno is also consistent with it being a plant created by PCG using those original OG Kush cuts. Not that I trust the source - but, Leafly said it's a cross of OG Kush to the Tahoe cut - if that's true, then it could be a feminized combination of those cuts using reversed pollen.

If the BTY OG is not the original OG Kush cut - it will definitely be fire - as all dozen or so PCG clones I've tried have been. And if it's not their classic original clone release of 2025 - that one must be Animal Cookies, which PCG shows on its website as a 2025 offering (but I haven't seen it yet).

so did ya grab the BTY?
I have what was labeled the BTY by the guy whose crew labeled it as such. Info can be found in this thread along with the guy whose crew named it. He goes by Wendull.

I've flowered it out before and it's pretty much the Josh D. I dont really get anything different from it. We need to remember that OG renames were a thing. I'm not gonna go down the rabbit hole of what I think the Josh D was named over the years. It's fucking mind boggling to be honest.

If it's like the Josh D - that's good enough for me! Seriously - I think the Josh D is closer to what I remember OG Kush looking like back in the day when I smoked it (but didn't grow it) - more so than the Ghost and Tahoe.

In any event, PCG definitely knows what they're doing and they're not gong to put a name like that on a clone unless they believe it's the best OG Kush cut (and maybe want to sidestep liability for using "OG Kush" or "Josh D" in the name).

Yes - mind-boggling and it will probably get even more so over the coming years.

In California...not going to happen in my neck of the woods.

I don't know any of these people, but I will say I have some appreciation for Chemdog. I am nobody and I have the real Chem91 (which was once the holy grail to many) sitting in my tent because he simply decided to release it to the public through his dispensary. Good on him.

From looking at the small cuts that I had my eyes on they screamed healthy OG cuttings. There's just a certain color and smell on the stem that just screams kush.

Im gonna pick a cutting up just to compare.

You remember the Josh D being like it used to be because the Josh D is the one that started it all. At least there's someone else that understands what's going on with the whole kush saga. Cheers brother.

Isn't that where you got ahold of that 1987 cut? It was pretty good IMHO for a quick sativa leaner.

Cut secured. Time for a comparison.
Excellent!
