Looks like a wonderful space for a room. Are you just going to pour a concrete slabe under there and level it off with a few drains in the concrete?

Heya PP

No man I am going to hang the wooden floor on the pillars that are sunk to bedrock 20-30ft bellow grade and then build the walls off the wooden floor... or at least that is what we are planning atm

Dude you cant dig a hole under your house that will severely fuck up the foundation which could cause some serious problems, am i wrong?

He doesnt look to be taking that much dirt out. And besides, the pillars are 35-45 ft deep he said, seems pretty stable enough, but then again I aint no engineer.

What ever happened to this Ono? Still diggin? =P

i guess, i just hope he knows what he is doing, i mean the house could collapse on top of him... this could be a very bad thing but could be good, i hope he doesnt hurt himself

I am sure he is not taking any support beams out, so I see no reason why it would collapse..

....i'm pretty sure the "dirt" was not load bearing (hah)

From what I understand, from reading the thread... The concrete pillars are buried in the ground, yes... down to a depth of 30+ feet and set on bedrock. The dirt he's moving is pretty much inconsequential in the face of that.

Heya everyone.... I have been with out internet for sometime now...(waiting on them to install fiber optic internlet... and unwilling to give the pisspoor cable company any more of my hard earned $)

But the cave is almost completely excavated at this point... so far it has been a frikin nightmare.. we have removed several tons of earth from underneath the building... I will try to get some pics in the next week or two and get them posted.

And to those worried about the building collapsing... no worries... those concrete pillars go 30-45 feet into the earth to bedrock and are not being weakend in the least.... also no 'support beams are being altered at all.. we are simply removing 4-6 feet of dirt of the top of 30-45 of dirt above the bedrock the pillars go down to
