That date sounds good to me man. I'm wondering if we should start individual threads for those games, 4 games at once here might be hard to keep track of lol.
good point southpaw ^^^-- we could do games via PM, or even if you guys want to make yahoo accounts or something and play the games in real time using 20 min games- (20 each player so 40 min games) ill wait to hear what the rest of the chess thread thinks-
I never like going off site to be honest. The date sounds good, but due to everyone being in diff time zones, it may be easier to play the games here as we have been. We could start a new thread in the tokers den for the tourny. No time limit on the tourny, so why not just set up the games one game at a time with an ideal 48 hour time limit on each game. So game 1 mon to wed. game 2 wed to fri game 3 fri to sun game four sun to tue then start the second round. If one game ends quickly or takes longer, everyone else can agree to start early or later. Or on the other hand, we could play the games in chat. Could just go in and open a private chat window and play the games like that. No refreshing the screen to see if the oponent has moved yet. And the moves are listed in one place still. Just ideas, let me know how it will work.
I'm with GMT on this one, we should do it here. My point was just that if we all stay in this thread, finding our opponents last move might be a biatch, lol. Opening a new thread in the Den sounds best to me, and I like the 48 hour idea too.
Once the games are setup, in might be a good idea to PM each other as far as timezone and times to play.
glad to see some ideas on the tourny- so far it looks like we are going to play all the games here in the den- maybe if we made another thread and played 2 games there and used this thread to play the other 2 here at a time- that way we can avoid the confusion of finding all the mvoes-
the chat option is good too- lets say you can play the games either way- post your move in the thread when your opponent isnt here, but if you can get into chat together just pick up your game there and if you have to leave pick it back up on the thread- the key will be good communication to keep things all on the same page-
with that said- there is the question of how to conduct a tourny with only 5 players involved- here just some suggestions for odd number tournys
-- each player plays games until they get 2 losses- the last 2 players not to have 2 losses play eachother in the final-
---- or everyone could play 2 games and hope that 2 people out of the 5 win both there games- wouldnt work well if everyone went 1-1 after 2 games...
just sitting here throwing out ideas-- anyone else?
should add-- maybe a lil more then 48 hrs per game you guys know me- i can play faster but the min time for game usualy is 3-4 days when i play- ill do my best to keep them rolling-
we just finished our game and played another one in chat- southpaw is gonna post the move list then- some very well matched games i pulled off a win early in game 1 and he took game 2 in a long hard fought game
