Those pictures are taken a couple of minutes ago.
They show why it's still too early to plant any kind of seed.
Roots love moisty and warm soil. Not too much water, otherwise the roots get lazy, because there is no need for them to "search" for the water.

Hi Browser, I see you are very informed! (even if these are not the best times for EU popularity...)

Pablow, under the (former) European Constitution, it was possible for European citizents to get together and collect signatures, which will be used to then modify laws accordingly. I think that the needed amount of signatures was 1 million.

I don't know if this is the case under the new treaty, but I do know about an MEP (from Sweeden?) that collected signatures asking for the EU Parl to be stationed in Bxls only, no need for Stra. She got over 1 million signatures.

Could smokers and like-thinkers do something like that to decriminalize the use and personal grow (5-8 plants) of cannabis for people over the legal age? I know that policy makers in FR and probably SWE would cause trouble, but if this is an initiative comining from the citizents of Europe, woldn't it be valid? Even if it doesn't produce a change in the law, we would at least get the point accross, no? Of should we start by taking cannabis out of the UN Narcotics Treaty?

You are right, the old Constitution would have given the power to citizens to collect one million signatures and ask directly the European Commission to make a legislative proposal on a certain issue, then amended, voted and approved by the European Parliament(the citizens) and the Council of the EU(the States,so national governments) together.

I am not sure if this is left in the Lisbon Treaty.. but I will have to read it before 1 January 2009!
Most of reforms of the former Constitution remains in the Treaty but not everything.

Good questions you got at the end
For legalization, and so I mean taxation and official regulation of production and everything, we have to pass through UN Conventions, and I don't see this happening very soon...
But in Europe we can in short time do something good at least with toleration and "regulation" for growing Cannabis for personal use.

Hi Pablow,

That must be a very thick book! lol.
I hope the Dutch Green Party (Kathalijne Buitenweg) at the EP will make a fist and statement concerning our policies and defend them at the European Parlement..

Tomorrow we will go to the (public) drugs debate at the governement overhere in The Hague.
I hope more people that are concerned about the "Dutch situation" will be there.
Not to demonstrate, but to hear what the vision of the parlement is at the moment and how they see the future of the shops and backdoor...
Some politicians are talking about "the side door" already.
How many more doors does a coffeeshop need? lol

Thanks for the flower...

The weather changes all the time. Sun, wind, rain and yesterday hail.
It's around 8 degrees.
I just brought the 2 Green Ambassadors X Purpurea at the terrace.
I only put them out at the warmest time of the day, after 12 pm.
As soon sun is setting I bring them inside again, accept for the little Purple Princess X Purpurea. When I bring the other two in I cover the other little plant with a glass pot.
Seems to work out fine for now.
Because the pots are in front of the window in the sun in the morning, the Morning Glory keeps on popping up around the little G.A. plant. This time of the year is much too early for the Morning Glory.
They realy flower nicely in july and august depending on the weather.
Last summer was not so nice, so I didn't had much "glory" last year... lol

In one hour I am leaving for the public drugs debat at the governement.

The majority of the political parties likes to initiate a research on 30 years tolerance policy.

The Christian party (CDA) and "ruling" party at the moment doesn't want a research, because to them all drugs are bad, also softdrugs.
But that's the opinion of a part of the Christian party, because there are also other "sounds" from the Christian party, like major Leers from Maastricht.

Other parties like to involve all kinds of people in "the field" with the resaearch, also smokers and shopowners.

The governement likes to have this research before the drugs evaluation at the European Parlement that's coming up.

It was a long debate.
It doesn't look too good for the Dutch tolerance policy.
The minister of Justice likes to prohibit the so called "wet" mushroom also and he wants to change the law and close down the growshops.
First there will be a research (evaluation) of thirty years tolerance policy and next year the governement comes with a so called new drugs notation.
This will be the (new) vision of the governement on the drugs policies.
The coffeeshops will stay.
The first aim of the governement now is "harm reduction" and continue raiding and harder punishments for "big" growers (what's big, what,s small??).
The max punishment for the so called "big" growers has shortly been raised from 4 to 8 years prison.
For the coffeeshops, small homegrowers uptill 5 plants and drug users nothing will change (at this moment). We can still carry uptill 5 grams for own use.
So it's actualy a "black day" in Dutch history concerning the tolerance policies.
I will continue to follow the proces and I wish all the green friends the best and lots of fun at the Drug Peace march in Vienna.

I see the ones that are most in danger in the short term are growshops..

Yesterday there was a public hearing at the Europarl: "Evaluation of the implementation of the 1998 UN Plan: Towards a drug-free world by 2008?"
It was interesting. Let's see what comes out of the UN meeting in Vienna in the next days.
The hearing was organized by 4 MEP from the Liberal group (ALDE): Chris Davies(Liberal-Democrats,UK), Marco Cappato(Radical party,Italy) and two Dutch ladies! Don't know if you've ever heard about them: Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert(VVD) and Sophie In't Veld(D66).
At the entrance of the meeting room, various Cannabis products, candies, seeds, and even some small branches from female plants...I couldn't believe my eyes!... not the best looking buds in the world, much leaves and seeds, but also flower pistils and a little bit of resin...
Of course I will test them

finally Friday,yes!
Here in Bavaria there are only 5 schooldays left until our next holidays,really looking forward to those!

Yeah,I know,you "older" people (With which I mean everyone of you who is older than 24 love to say that school was much better than work and you'd love to go back there,but it is so disappointing to sit there about 5 hours,and freaky old teachers who don't even know about their subjects their selfs keep screaming at you...

Pablow, D'66 was one of the parties that took a very clear position at the debate for regulation and legalizing growing Cannabis.
Also the Green Party and the Socialistic party did.
Boris van der Ham (D'66) was the most compassionated at the debate.
At the European Union I think that Sophie (D'66) and Kathelijne (Green Party) and other EU parlement members that are in favour of regulation (legalization) should come together on this issue.

Another issue is that from july on all the coffeeshops in the Netherlands have to be smoke free.

Only if they make a separate space customers can smoke, but personnel can not serve their customers anymore in that space..

Because of this the Vaporizer is a lot at the news lately.
Evert invented the "Vaporizer" 10 years ago and many kind of vaporizers followed since then.
The Vaporizer is very nice, because you don't burn any tobacco, only the esoteric oils are burned.
A very nice way for medical users and a "clean" way for recreative users.
Yesterday Evert was at the national tv with his vaporizer and vaporized a dutch Ossie Osborn (Joop) and his host of the show Robert Jensen.

Overhere it's still cold, it's 9 degrees and the temperature at night is raising slowly.
Coming days the temperature by day will be rising over 10 degrees by day and 6/7 at night.
Still some rain sometimes and lots of wind. Not realy spring yet.
Sun is breaking through now and then.
