i hate cell phones...no, i absolutely loathe them! hate was not strong enough. we need some new words for that. best ideas/inventions? bacon, of course. the filet knife...rolling papers...ummm...oral sex.
can't argue about these 4. Once had to help the bro clean over 1500 lbs of fish, the filet knife was worth its weight in gold...
Good invention - Shoes - modern shoes - walking shoes - mine just did over 1000 miles - in one year - on my feet - and are still good to walk -
Bad invention - TV - thinking of all that wasted time watching commercials and various propaganda - my TV crapped out on me 2 months ago (broke down) - so cancelled the cable - and haven't missed it at all -

WOW! that's a shitload of fish! (what were they?) sounds like a job for one of the electric filet knives. not tried one yet myself...

mix of bluefin, yellow fin, dorado, yellow tail and some miscellaneous. started at 8am, finished at 1 am. Took 4 days for my hands not to smell like fish. never seen so many maggots in the trash in all my life. I don't like electric knives, full manual is the only way for me, especially when dealing with cold slippery fish. Thank G for the filet knives.
Oh, i dunno about the best and worst, but i really liked that Tampons were invented.
Worst invention ever? Government.
reminds me, I'd like to nominate the vacuum tube as a phenomenal invention, sure does make for some great rich sounds (shout out to the 12ax7, 7868, and 7591).

My last "real" job , before I basically retired was cutting fish, commercially.
A typical busy-season summer day would be fillet or cut about 200 lbs of medium to large fluke, then maybe 100-150 lbs of codfish, about 200 lbs of whole 10-12 pound salmon then one or two 100-125 lb yellowfins,maybe a few mahi, a couple 150-200 lb swords 10 or so 30-50 lb halibut then odds and ends like imported dorade and bronzini, monkfish livers and tails, etc.
Some are relatively easy to cut, like swordfish and salmon.
Others take a bit more finesse and you really have to be aware of the fish's bone structure.
Had to be fast and efficient and not leave any meat on the rack.
Anyhow.
Worst Invention: Nuclear weapons.
thats why we never let the deckhands clean our fish...they filet like hacks...leave 50 % of the meat on the bones then throw them overboard for the gulls. Never ried a dexter russel knife...sounds like they are nice.
used to average about 8000lbs of fish filleted every summer at a small restaurant in alaska...4000lbs of halibut at the beginning of the season,then lots and lots of salmon and the occasional salmon shark...needless to say i got pretty good at it...
and obviously bikes are the best invention
