The best to you too man. 49 tonight in Tampa.

Looking pretty chilly up here in Mass. I can't complain or even fuck with anybody. Eight days ago my wife had biopsy done on nodules on her thyroid. On the preliminary they told her she most likely had cancer. Yesterday we got the detailed report and they gave her the all clear. Really makes me appreciate what's important in life.

Glad to hear the wife got a clean bill of health.

Hey AOH, do you have any more info on why you say there is no gun show loophole? I really dont know. My understanding is that if you buy a gun off a licensed seller you have to pass a background check. If buying off a private individual that check doesnt need to happen, the seller just needs to not be aware of the fact you can't buy a gun....but they dont need to ask and have no way to verify it. Gun shows bring together private buyers and sellers to conduct the transactions, so you are selling a gun to a stranger without any sort of real check that they aren't crazy pants. It gets sort of tricky as I do think you should be able to sell your gun to your buddy...but how do you allow for that while also preventing folks from selling to random folks.
you are correct, any transaction WITH A LICENSED DEALER is a mandatory background check. meeting a private citizen and conducting a private sale is not. both follow current law. this precludes a private sale being a "loophole". a "loophole" is when a governing body tried to do something but failed in their effort at regulation. there was never (to my knowledge) any real attempt to regulate transactions between private citizens by congress.
if you meet someone at a drugstore that sees your NRA sticker in your car window and strikes up a conversation, is that any different than meeting them at a gun show? do you think there should be limits placed on freedom of association? i understand quite well the dilemma we are placed in by this type of transaction. i would (in the long run) probably be more amenable to requiring universal background checks versus aiming restrictions ONLY at gun shows. their resistance to illogical rules aimed at them alone highlights the specter of attempted govt suppression of a group of citizens with a common interest that happens to largely be enshrined in our constitution. if you think the citizenry will stand for limiting a constitutional right, try it on everyone at once and stop nibbling around the edges...fuck with everyone or no one at all.:tiphat:

They did kill him, than covered it up to prevent the public from knowing his own SS shot him in the head. All of JFK autopsy data went missing after the FBI took it. His brain also went missing after the FBI took that. All evidence the FBI took went missing.

Thanks for clearing that up.

In other news, Trump is gonna get another 4 years. Can not wait to read the comments as that goes along. :dance013:

Happy New Year - to all on this thread - and as 'The Roaring 20's (the sequel)' - trickles into our lives - it does give me some room for thoughts -

No matter if you lean to the left or the right, are a centrist - or just are not convinced by these sham-of-a-mockery democracies - we are all one - we are all humanity - together on this beautiful planet - fast turning into a toxic swamp - unless we do something about it - and soon -

So beyond the politics - is it not better we all come together to try and solve the MASSIVE problems we all ready have in this world together - rather than pulling ourselves further apart? - over who votes for the red team - or who votes for the blue -

Pollution - poverty - disease - displacement/homelessness - lack of education - lack of security - lack of clean water and food security - lack of medical care - the threat of war - all these things are still here to tackle in this new year - as they were in the last - and there have been recent advances - lets hope they continue -

Ok, ok, enough with this 'sanity' stuff, now lets get back to making fun of Trump :) :biglaugh:

Only joking, yes, have a happy new year and hopefully we all learn from each other to be better people overall, and see if us humans can manage to learn to take better care of our planet and it's inhabitants- human and other for centuries and millennia to come. :ying: :whee:

What do you think politics are? They were never about red and blue. They’re about clean air and health. Food.

I have respected the land since i was able to walk, i used to smile and just grab allthe junk the folks leave at the ANDY A DOG WILLIAMS skatepark because i embrace my ancestors lands and WANT them sustainable for our future generations. The amount of "tourists" who come here, treat the area like a toilet paper and leave is hardly worth the money they bring in the end to me. Id rather see trees planted then buildings get built. I used to harvest timber, now i hug em!

Great news Zeez. Glad you found out the good news about your wife's biopsy before the Holiday season. Best wishes to you, your wife, and family.

Here in Cali all gun sales must go through a licensed shop to do a back ground check. Its illegal to sale any firearm without a legal transfer. My father sold a 22 about 45 years ago. At that time it wasn't required to do this. A few weeks ago he was contacted by Santa Rosa PD asking about that 22. It was still registered in his name. It was used in a crime. He told them to destroy the gun.

We now have to go through a background check to buy ammo every time we buy, it cost 1 dollar. If you don't have a real ID you must bring a birth certificate at the time of purchase.

Don't kid yourself. It's all about money and power. Ever been to Vatican City? It oozes money.

I agree about the evolution of christianity but think that it has turned into a protection racket. Doesn't matter how bad people screwed others to get the money. If the church gets a cut then the pearly gates are open.
I work real hard at not kidding myself: at the TOP it is money and power (and it can be a local mega church, it doesn't have to be the Vatican), but beneath that, it’s about faith and obedience and brainwashing and staying paid up - and bought-in. (They call it Bible-study, but it’s keeping the programming tuned and up-to-date...fixed on the party line). They are industrious cadre, they are as good as any Red Guard at staying on message and out of trouble.

Every preacher is a salesman of products undeliverable, of rules unenforceable, of costs unendurable and benefits imaginary. I’ll take the drugs, thanks: at least they are in fact *something*, and the equation is balanced by real effects and benefits.

Christianity turned into a protection racket 1200-1400 years ago if not more. Catholicism did not ape the Imperial Roman structures by accident, nor did they just stumble upon Rome. It was THE power center and remained so for a further 1000+ years.

Oh, yeah, on the bottom...on the bottom there’s little *but* prayer. They have little else left....
