As has been pointed out numerous times. A Westerner going to Thailand for a few weeks or even months, would be lucky to find this sort of thing. You imagine someone coming to Australia as a tourist trying to find a good sativa. But did you find the old Thai, and the best I read that was found by BC in the form of a pre rolled joint in Bangkok.
Funky has been very relentless in his search and to be honest so have many others and all leaving very disappointed.

How many going to Thailand are going to non tourist areas for starters? Not everything ends up in the capital cities.
Hmong Hilltribe
I disagree with that one. Someone who has a small garden in a remote village isn't likely to send stuff to Bangkok, especially if they have a local market, or just supply their family. Also, if the Bangkok market is almost completely hybrids, then why would they bother trying to supply that market with something that doesn't sell. The money is in Bangkok, most likely anything purchasable will make its way to Bangkok. Any drug can be found in Bangkok.

I've been to more remote places in Laos. Some villages are like stepping back 1000 years.
Yes, but how is that relevant to what is happening now? We all know the market is flooded with Western hybrids, and that is what the market wants. My mate who travelled to Thailand for work monthly from say mid 80s until early 90s would land in Bangkok drop his bags off at the hotel and then catch a tuk tuk to his mate to score an OZ it was very easy to get weed and very good weed even at the height of prohibition.
Is it a coincidence that BC also found the best Thai weed in some small stand in Bangkok ?
Maybe you didn't notice but the world has drastically changed since this period, it was 35/40 years ago, we changed of century since. Your buddy could try to make what he did back then and it wouldn't work the same way, that's so obvious. My mate who travelled to Thailand for work monthly from say mid 80s until early 90s would land in Bangkok drop his bags off at the hotel and then catch a tuk tuk to his mate to score an OZ it was very easy to get weed and very good weed even at the height of prohibition.

That was in the days of huge crops of Thai Stick, which as we all know is no longer the case and hasn't been for 50 years.Brokers sent their people all over Thailand buying cannabis and sending it back to Bangkok where it was graded and packed ready for export, that's how it worked.
Even the guys from the book Thai Stick have said the same thing, and some of the largest Thai Stick busts happened in Bangkok.
These same brokers were the guys that once it got too hot in Thailand to do the big grows set up grows in Cambodia and Laos.
It doesn't sound romantic, but that's how it was.
thais are doing this ??Most are sitting back watching all this Cali big pharma weed being dumped onto the Thai market, outside interests cashing in while they make very little.
Prof77 told Nevil his seed was a mix of different Thai seed collected over a period of years from the things they bought to smoke.
You seem to flip flop between saying it's extinct, then saying it must be there.Again, where did BC find the best weed in Thailand on his trip ?
It was in a small pop up stand in the form of a pre rolled joint in Bangkok.
I am a glass half full type of person and I 100% believe good Thai is still being grown in Thailand, but I highly doubt a tourist is going to find it without either meeting the right person and them liking you or having someone you know well knowing the right people.
People aren't stupid, those that have it, as I said in a previous post, have had it passed down to them and why would they just give away something that is clearly a valued commodity.

That was exactly my point. A tourist is not likely to find it unless they are very lucky or know someone. In this market the valued product isn't the Thai stick, it's the shiny new hybrid.
If it still exists, it's likely somewhere off the beaten track imo.
Hempy, it’s all hearsay, none of what you say is fact, just stuff you read or imagined. No real world experience.Brokers sent their people all over Thailand buying cannabis and sending it back to Bangkok where it was graded and packed ready for export, that's how it worked.

Yea, I know you stayed with him and his wife Elmer, but Nevil also spoke to him a bit and formed a relationship with him.
He told Nevil the seed he sent Nevil was a mix batch of seed collected over some years from things they bought to smoke with in Thailand.
Nevil grew them some were very good some were not the Hmong label some gave them is made up.
