Thai Stick Test Grow

Hmmm...well, that 'lady' pictured above is looking awfully like a male now - still not 100%, but I'd say 70/30 male at the moment - distinct little pods forming. But I've been here before, so I'll wait a little longer.

Trouble is, if it IS male, I can't flower it anywhere else - it's too big. Much as I'd love some Thai pollen, it will have to go. The other two go in tonight, plus two Flo F2s, so I can't waste any space...:(

Well, this big Thai is definitely a male. Which means it has to - ahem - 'drop out'... :bat:

So - I'm going to take some clones asap, and put them back under 16/8. As soon as I can, I'll repot them and put them under 10/14 in a separate space and collect some lovely Thai pollen - which will literally be gold dust... :chin:

I can't see any pistils at all - it's been on 12/12 for 24 days. I daren't risk leaving it in there any longer - I've had pollen produced this early before, and it would be a disaster right now. And it will free up a lot of room which I can use, so clones it is - tonight...:)

24 days and no sings of sex yet...that's a long time to wait....They will show their sex soon...these pure sativas can take a while...

Damn - sorry man, too late - I chopped it - I never thought to photograph it again....:(

However, I took four clones, which don't have balls on them yet, but I'll be flowering at least one of them as soon as they're rooted, so I'll take some pics then - how's that? :)

Just a quick update on the Thai situation - the four male clones are just about rooted, so I'll pot those tomorrow, top them all, and force-flower the strongest specimen in a few days - some real Thai pollen is rare indeed, and I intend to collect as much as I can.

The two others are confirmed females (so far!), and are vegging out nicely on 12/12 in the main growroom - I'm pinching and training a lot now, but the stems are really flexible, so it's easy, compared to the Malawi Gold, which had stems like steel! Also the fact that they're not flowering at all on 12/12 confirms their equatorial heritage.

Once my pure indicas and fast crosses are finished up and harvested, I'm switching to 10/14, which will finish off the Malawi Gold X Flo phenos, and flower these Thais out. New pics very soon...

Good luck EM! Nice to see you're doing well with the Thais. Quite the task indoors. I'm trying to germ my last two seeds of Federation Hawaiian Sativa. Supposed to be an outstanding strain. If they don't pop, I have 15 seeds from decent Cambodian that I got from a mate's stash a few weeks ago...

Well, for those of you who missed it elsewhere, I've been given notice to quit my place on 15th July - bummer. This means my growroom will have to be dismantled and any weed dried and removed by July 10th at the latest. So - this leaves me around nine weeks clear time remaining. This isn't really time to do these Thais justice, but tough.

So I've just switched the growroom to 10/14, and I'm going to take some clones of both these phenos now - I may take more in the next few days. They should start flowering pretty soon. I'm potting my male clones tonight, and will aim to extract some pollen in the next few weeks. Then I'll get some onto the females asap - making some new seeds is far more of a priority now than some Thai smoke - I got plenty of the imported...:)

Whether I can get all this done remains to be seen, but let's have a go, eh? :)

Good show mate.

I don't know why but looking at plants with these leaf patterns always gives me the feeling of looking at "real" cannabis. The roughness of the serration of the edges has something aout it that I'm very fond of. :chin:

Alex - I know what you mean with the serrations - the Malawi X Flo crosses have the same thing - very deep serrations, but kinda rounded points to them - it's so subtle to describe, but easy visually. Especially when compared to that Black Domina leaf poking in at the top of the first pic...:)

OJD - they were pure male when I cut them - just waiting for them to root now. Obviously I'll be collecting as much pollen as possible, so it may all pan out fine in the end...at least we know we both have the same batch...:chin:

I sawed off a big lump for myself from a fresh K I bumped into at my friend's today - this was pressed slab instead of stick, and vac-sealed - very professional and neat. There's more seeds than the sticks, but they look better condition - hardly any twigs in the bricks either, and nearly all bud, just like the sticks were. I've probably got 200 perfect seeds at least from this batch so far - I can afford to be fussy now...:)

I will indeed...:)

I've potted the male clones tonight - the stems were very woody, and roots haven't yet formed properly even after three weeks, but I don't have time to wait - hopefully they'll root OK. I'll give them some Rhizotonic shortly.

The two females are now beginning to flower (and stretch!) after a week of 10/14 - I'm having to tie them down quite a bit, but the stems are so flexible, it's really easy. I've taken some clones of these, and will probably do a lot more, they being so valuable. They'll never finish before I have to leave however, so they may have to go to a new home - I cannot let these die now, after all the work it took to get them going...:(

Just one shot tonight, but they're taking on the classic Thai look now:
