Subcool and Mz Jill are horrible breeders. They have very little education on genetics and are just glorified pollen chuckers. None of their shit is stable, poly hybrid pollen chucks for $$$$$$$$ is all they do.

I dont doubt you can find some fire from them, maybe, but I can find it much more reliably elsewhere.

Everytime I hear subcool and mz jill talk about "breeding" I want to vomit or rip my eyes out.

Anyway im not doubting they have some decent plants to smoke if you find em, you can find those anywhere if you look enough.

I do agree with you but the seed business is as you described now. so many people selling elite x elite fems and selling out on any auction site in seconds. this is without so much as one seed being tested or documented. if anything they (tga) put in more work than most. a lot more.

TGA has the bammer. Everything ive tried gets a smooth even effect at first smoke. Then straight bammer after. I call it the blue dream effect. Bought a pack of cuvee and only 3 popped. Two were not worth keeping. And one autoflowered on me. WTF.

you can get some potent tasty gorgeous phenos but overall "bammer weed" gets my vote.

I find gage green very similar to tga. you can get some nice fruity weed that lack potency overall

^ that's the one subcool strain i'm interested in. the "jack's cleaner" in jtr is very dominate. breeding with recessive genetics is not my thang.

jtr does very well outdoors. my jtr pheno was decent potency wise but very good bag appeal. another good strain I lost.

jtr hybrids if I get a good jtr pheno are still in my breeding plans. jtr/aloha white widow!

The JTR pheno I kept for a couple of years back in the early 2000's was very lemony and very potent. Wish I still had that cut. Have tried a couple of packs of seeds since then and nothing comes close. Now I believe the JTR genes have been watered down/inbred too much.

I had a few JTR's that I liked, and it was the lemony one that I still wish I had.

Biggest problem with TGA is the overuse of space queen as a breeding male, weakens everything in my opinion. I like C99 but I guess it's the Romulan in space queen that I don't like, have not had Romulan by itself though.

I like cheesquake a lot, especially the cheesier ones, but I like cheese a lot too. If it was CheesexUrkle it would probably be better because of the lack of space queen.

Like with anyone making F-1's, it's going to take some serious selection to come up with something special, I'm always a little surprised that people think they should be consistently performing breeding lines when they are barely tested as f-1's, if they are tested at all.

i had the pink lemonade phenol of jtr. it was pretty much like a short flowering haze, very racy high but strong.. it had like pink/red coloring on th buds, had a strong lemon, jiff cleaner type smell and taste. i loved it. but it had the tendency to throw the odd male flower. after a couple of years of keeping mothers from it, they just became more and prone to male flowers, till eventually I just dropped it.
I had some beautiful and stable agent orange keepers too. one I kept for years and lost.

I will say this. agent orange has changed.. I grew a coupe of packs recently and it wasn't even the same plant. faint citrus smells and no keepers. I suspect the same of jtr from what I have read. I know a lot of people who have jilly bean keepers etc but they don't come running to tga's rescue in these threads. ive herd a lot of good things from a lot of good growers but you hear both good and bad so its a mixed bag I think.
personally I wouldn't go for jtr or agent orange now. but im sure the newer ones are good.

oh, lastly Id like to add, im pretty sure subcool doesn't even have the uk exodus cheese that he used in cheese quake. firstly cheese/exodus DOESNT smell of cheese. im from the uk and smoked/seen/grown it many times. so would probably avoid that too.

the exodus cheese does not smell of cheese. personally I think that in the US a cheese smelling plant is being passed around as exodus cheese.
idk even know why its called cheese, I think its just because it really stinks. but its kinda its like me thinking gg4 smells like gorillas... its just the name.

I think credit really goes to Neville and the West Coast guys from that early era.
They made the Haze, which became Jack Herer, which became Jack's Cleaner, which became JTR.

It takes a lot of work to find her, but that lemony hazey pheno of JTR /JC has THCV in it ;-)
I ran her for a while, but she belonged to someone else and I had to return the cut when they went into commercial growing.
There's also a leaf trait that identifies that THCV pheno.

I smoked a couple of his flagship strains from about 10 years ago so idk what he has these days. The jtr had greatbag appeal but I'd say it was medium potency and the high felt a bit shallow or flat in some ways. The jilky bean was good but not as good as the old school Cali orange I had a reliable connect from a couple years prior and was also medium potency. My thoughts are that he's nailed down smell and flavor so much so people might not be doing propper selections for other criteria.

I just saw Subcool's IG post, that he's pollinating the JC with Spacedude to make more JTR. I wanted to post, "Please don't, hit her with like a Bodhi male or something landracy". But I didnt.

maybe the problem is that he doesn't want to select any better males. same with gage green and the joseph og that they cross to everything. quite a lot of breeders have one male which forms the back bone of their breeding projects. everything tends to lose distinction or if the male is herm prone or has whatever issue, it will pass that down to all the offspring.

I hadn't tried agent orange but being familiar with the orange skunk clone and having tried jtr and jilybean from his old school flagship strains I would say that's the line to dig through. Orange skunk the clone had a nice happy buzzy complexity but lacks precisely where jtr shines in the quality of high the problem with jtr alone is its high is flat and lacks complexity.

His Chernobyl seed stock was good enough to produce a clone that is being passed around and sold in California med dispensary's. Dark heart nursery cultivates it along with sour diesel and Girls scout cookies.

Trainwreck was probably more potent than anything he had in his stable before Chernobyl. Although trainwreck isn't any more potent than a good cut of jack herer. His newer stuff is probably more potent than his older stuff as "elite" cuts became much more accessible around 2009 or so. Subcool was never super connected into the good old boys scene he just got all into internet marketing well ahead of the curve and forged a brand based on distinctive flavors a strong online presence decent photography skills and community college level creative writing skills. He took full advantage of a thriving competing canna site at the time and had pretty much the best strain testers on the net.

At the time his main online competitors were rezdawg and greens4me/elite genetics they were all heavily competing for the same share of the market and of the three his strains were probably the least potent but he always had the most professional presentation and he's still standing.

I'm working with agent orange right now, I sourced the beans 6 or 8 years ago I don't remember when. I popped 5 killed 1, I got 3 girls and a boy. The male is ok nothing special it has some resin when flowered so I f2d the females and hit a blueberry, blue dream and sweet island skunk with the pollen.

The phenos for the girls, all have decent resin production with it coating onto some of the fan leaves. The stem rub, one is skunk leaning, one is orange and one has both, its the stickiest of the bunch but it's also the smallest of the 3... They just got cut so no smoke report yet...

I did notice that the seeds like the ones I popped from the original pack finished a lighter tan with tiger stripes...

At this point I'm flowering a clone of the male, saving pollen then pitching him. I plan to pop the rest of the pack and f2 those with the pollen or if a better male pops up...

I still have half a pack of jacks cleaner 2 beans that will get the same treatment f2 if I get males etc... Maybe crossed to the AO pollen.

I have some seeds from some new elite strains and breeders and I plan to look for better males in those. Subcool has the taste and smell thing jumping off, and I'm going to try and bring the fire without the intersex traits... It's all for my room and a few homies who don't mind a seed here and there.
