Texas growers unite

Brothers and sisters of the great Texas Growers Collective I am here to be reconciled into your bosom of ever-lasting green love - and I do mean green. I don't know how it was that I have missed this thread. I've been spending far too much time shitting around in the Toker's Den and Old Stoner's Pad.

My reputation for dishonesty, a general lack of personal integrity, under-performing jokes and witless sarcasm aside, I'm really a pretty good grower because I like to try new things on every grow.

This has given me some interesting experiences and a lot of trial by setting fire to my own money in the name of personal initiative episodes, but that's all "wisdom" and I am happy to share so that future generations may look back on these tragic events and suggest that they could have been brought to a similar beaching of the ship of state had I not intervened with yet one more untimely utterance of folly.

I'm in Houston. I've been growing for the past six years. I'm a medical patient (migraine headaches) and a loon as you can pretty much tell.

I'm building out a new cabinet now and hope to have some things to offer in the posting quite soon. I just finished my last DWC grow - a 4-station system with a 400 watt vertical kool tube in my converted half-bath. Just finished a grow of Russian Roulette (AK-47 x Romulan x White Rhino) and the buds were slashed a little over a month ago so we have a few more weeks before we will be sampling those wares again.

I'm building a cabinet so I can have some more sanity in my life. This one will be completely stealthy and just appear to be a chest of drawers that are stuck close. The top is a flip top and it will be 4'-0" by 2'-0" by 2'-9" high. I'm taking my time because it is going to be a showroom quality piece of furniture when I am done.

I'll do this one with CFLs because they are handy and the heat issues are different in cabinets. This will have a full 24" by 21" flowering area where I will be doing SCROG with screens set to give me 18" buds. This will be a 4-station set-up allowing me the opportunity to flower 4 plants at a crack with 70 watts+ per square foot of wattage.

I intend to photo it all as best I can and offer it up for your evaluation and (eventual) ridicule. All in the name of Texas unity... :p

No, I'm pretty much like this all the time.

Support needed

Just a shout out to the community members. Looks like most have taken some time off from the site also.

A few state political actions in the works that need our support. Contact Texas Norml for more info. http://texasnorml.org/txnorml_blog/

HB 902, a bill to decriminalize minor possession of marijuana (up to 1oz), was introduced into the Texas House of Representatives by Rep. Harold Dutton (Dist. 142, Houston). If passed, HB 902 would make the possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana a Class C Misdemeanor, and under Texas law that means a fine up to $500 with NO THREAT OF JAIL-TIME, if convicted!

HB 164 is a very exciting new bill that will provide much needed legal protection for doctors who recommend and patients in need of medical cannabis in Texas.

Take a few moments and contact your state rep..
Stay safe & harvest well

Sweet looking, love the trich coverage. I may try their (GH) Hawaiian Snow, looks promising. I'm also looking at Delta-9 lab's Southern Lights. The Lineage: NYC Diesel x Sensi Star...also very interesting. I'm looking for someting special to cross with my WallyDuck's C-99. Again, redman71 looks great.

Morning All,
redman1, I was lucky to get Wallyduck's C-99, 5 pack, as a freebie with an order from SBay. I have 1 Super fantastic Pineapple pheno. It's so easy to clone...make a cutting about 3 inches long, put in a small vessel filled above any growth nods with plain tap water, in a week or so Presto. The trichs are the first thing you notice, along with wispy bud sites. Around day 30-35 the trichs have already covered the leaves, and the buds will start to harden as the days pass. At day 45, your tempted to chop...I've noticed that there is another explosion of growth around day 45-49. I wait till I get a a heavy mix of amber & cloudy. I saw the asking price for his limited release of C-99 and felt very lucky to have gotten it as a freebie. If your able to get your hands on a cut, seeds you'll be one happy camper. C-99 will be in my garden for as long as I can garden.

This thing still alive?

There is unfortunately bad news on the legal front, in the form for HB 3680--go to the texasnorml site to see it.

I never got to go through with my first grow, after trying sooooo hard to get seeds.

:frown:

Lots of reasons...anyway, considering trying to grow one plant among the tomatoes in my garden. After some help on the icmag boards, it looks like height won't be a problem. My only other concern would be smell...depending on how strong.

Anyway, take care all you Texas growers.

so i am very curious, have been researching this to no avail.
what EXACTLY are the punishments associated with growing in Texas?
(i.e. what is the plant count that distinguishes misdemeanor from felony, or harsh sentence from HARSHER sentence?)

all i find are posession charges and sale charges....
peace

This may or may not help you, but the key is the amount of pot you are in possession of. I believe the NORML site indicates anything under a pound gives you a mandatory probation for a first time offense.

I asked on a lawyer's blog, once:

. On the NORML.org site, they have state by state laws, and it appears some states have "cultivation" laws.

Texas does not appear to have these laws. But of course, whether it is misdemeanor or a felony appears to be determined by weight. So if someone was arrested with 1 or 2 plants, how does the law work? Do they take the plants out and weigh them? Or is there a per plant assumed weight?

Or if someone has a plant, do they assume intent to distribute?

Thanks.

His reply was:

Texas has separate offenses and sometimes additional penalties for manufacturing, delivering, etc. controlled substances, but not for marijuana.

The assumed amount of marijuana per pot plant is actually a federal thing, not a state law thing, so as far as the Texas Penal Code is concerned, that's not an issue.

So then, it would appear to me that the key question is how do the feds determine weight? By the actual "smokable" part of the plant, or by the entire plant? But then again, it almost seems as if the Texas law is still ambiguous. If you're caught with one or two plants, what happens? I've never figured this out.

From the experiences of various friends, number of plants isn't a factor until it becomes a federal offense, which is over 5 lbs. When you're caught, they usually cut the plant at the base of the stem and weigh the entire plant(stems, buds, leaves and all). So long as you're under the 1lb. limit you're clear with the mandatory probation (this is only for first time offenders though, if you have a record for possession then things are a little more serious and depending on your case you may serve jail time). So if you've got 1 plant that's a week away from harvest and weighs out to a qp, it's just the same as having 1 or even 20 plants that weigh out to a total of just a half oz.

Keep in mind I'm no lawyer, just had a few friends go through some unfortunate events, and got to hear first hand about their legal proceedings.

We have some things in common...

We have some things in common...

Howdy y'all,

Damn straight, I said howdy and y'all! Even though I don't usually...
Now why would that be...?
Because I'm from TEXAS :::pulls Colt revolvers from hip holsters and shoots them several times into the air::: born and raised!
...So, with that out of the way, it seems we have one thing in common...
But wait!...
I TOO happen love the ganja plant! So that makes two things. Could these commonalities be the foundations of new relationships?!?! I can't wait to see...

Well, anyways, I'll start with a bit about myself.
I'm in the central Texas area and I'm currently cultivating my first guerilla batch. So far 5 out of 5 have turned out to be ladies (germinated from regular/non-feminized, crazy odds, right?) and things seem to be going fairly well. All seeds are DNA Genetics: 2 Lemon Skunk and 3 Mean Martian Green. I'll be creating a grow journal soon and I'll post a link here for anyone who wants to see.

Be well :joint: ,
