I have a similar system I built about a year ago. You tried pulling any of the plants out yet? I had the roots clog my drain and there was nooo way I was getting the plant out of the system because of root mass.

Yeah with these systems it's nearly impossible, if not impossible, to pull the plants out, without damage. I don't think they were designed to be removable until harvest. Unless you're growing lettuce or something with a small root mass, of course.

High Nate and clown! yeah, they're locked in pretty good! i dont like not beeeing able to check on them from time to time. i also dont like not being able to move them around. It was tough getting the males out as well. That is why Im switching to the Areo-flo system next crop. Bacsically the same framework with only a slight modification.

Plus, I can use organic based nutes as well . which is something I am interested in for my next crop. Peace and luck, TBug

Hey Tbug,

nice grow! I pm'd you to ask where you purchased this square pvc piping. I can't find it anywhere...could you let me know please. Thank you

good looking pics man.

I had an aero system a while back but the popo put an end to it while i was sexing.....

For the people considering the pipe:

I did mine in the 6" pvc pipe. that was a pain. we eventually left the pipe open and let it drain right into the rez. we couldnt get the drains to connect to the curved pipe, they kept leaking. it worked well, but since the rez was getting hot, we wanted to move the rez and we couldnt. We started freezing several milk jugs and tossing them in the rez..LOL

we never had an issue with the netpots though. they did teeter since the cup only rested on a VERY small portion but we never had an issue with netpots filled with lava rocks.

Tbug, I looked and couldnt seem to find where you showed the actual misters you were using. where did you get them? I used the misters from home depot that shot out like 12 streams in 360 degrees. seemed to work well.

How did you come up with your watering cycle? From what i remember, a period of about 45-60 seconds on, and a period of 5 minutes off was the optimum cycle. It was explained that the roots can only soak in a certain amount of nutes at one time, so anything longer is just wasted. no offense man, your grow seems to be doing great.

I was wondering what type of isssues you've had with the system? Especially the feeder pipes being IN the tubing and if the roots are growing around and blocking the misters? DO you have access to the misters now?

aeros great aint it? looks good man

Hey, breezed thru the thread just looking at the pics without reading (sorry). Just two suggestions.
1) Better to stagger the placements of the holes cuts in the tubes to give your plants more space and use the light better.
2) Although most systems made place the nozzles on the bottom, some people have had problems with them getting clogged by roots. Better to place the feedlines outside of the growing tubes and place the nozzles above looking in if you will.

Not that these 2 points would make your grow any better, but in some cases can prevent problems.

High Jap! ...and thanks for the tips! I would have staggerd them if i had an odd number of columns. I will do that in the new build though. I want to add 3 rows of 3 in between the 4 rows of 4. misters wont clogg if you dont fuck with the plant. the sheer force of the spray will keep the roots from overgrowing them naturally.
At any rate, the conversion to Aero-flo will make that irrevelant.
But glad to have ya, and welome to my closet! Peace and thanks, TBug

Yea I'd bend and tie as opposed to topping them...not to keep them from growing...but to keep them from growing into the light and getting burned....
