Taking the Coco plunge!

Hey Aeric thanks for stopping by. I think I may have this thing sorted out. I have a good feeling they started out like that because of my cloning process. I dunk my Rapid Rooters in 1400ppm Clonex when I first place clones into them. I think once rooted the youngins started to uptake that strong ppm from the RR's themselves and got burnt. Thats one possibility. I do all my clones like this tho, and it worked great for soil, I may have to tone that down a bit when sending them to coco.

Hey GL =) Thanks for the props!

less is more theory

less is more theory

hey i am just chiming in as a recent switcher from soil to coco. i think that alot of people like the idea of keeping things as simple as you can, using less ferts and such, but consider one thing, it wouldn't make sense to lower your ppm from soil to coco. consider that before your plants were relying on some uptake of nutrients to come from the soil itself, with ammendments that were likely added by you or the company (bat guano, worm castings etc) but now are completely dependant on what you feed them in your water. the question is, do you want to give your plants the cheese burger of less is more, or do you want to max out your potential with 1100+ ppm steak dinner when you hit full flower in that coco. i agree that less ferts may be more connoseur (sp) style, but if im growing for yield and resin production im loading em up and using my final flush at the end. its just a preference call i think dude.

Thanks for stopping by SR. Many good points, I appreciate the input! =D I'm feeling a bit more confident now, and I'm gonna start jacking up the ppm.

Here they are, I'm about to send them into flower. These babies are growing fast! I will stake them, and then throw the 1kw on them this week. Been vegging them for 6 days now under the 400w hps, and 6-7 days before that in cups under floro's.

Looks like you've got the nutrient issues sorted. They look really perky and healthy now.

Sorry if you already posted it, but are you dripping or handwatering once a day? What nutes are you using?

Honestly you better flip those soon if you they have any kind of stretch cuz your gonna have a jungle in that space.

If everything goes right your gonna have a fat harvest.

Remember less is more nute wise in coco and don't let your pots dry out. Should be a breeze for ya. I disagree with the above poster who says you should feed just like soil in coco. Coco makes it so the nutrients are more efficiently utilized or something like that so you don't need to use as much. I'm currently topping out around 1.4EC in mid bloom and I don't think they could take much more, maybe 1.6 max. The 2.0 EC I used on soil plants would be too high for the coco I think unles it's a real nute hungry strain.

Hello guys, and thanks for stopping back in! Things are going along smoothly, and every day, I'm improving things little by little.

Meduser, yeah I think I have that all sorted out now. Currently, I am handwatering with a pump and a hose. I pretty much have everything required for the drip system. Just trying to figure out how I'm gonna connect this 1/2" hard poly irrigation tubing, to a regular old ecoplus submersible pump? I'll show you guys pics of what I'm talking about.

I'm watering every other day at the moment, still trying to work it up to every day, then multiple times a day when they get bigger & start blooming. Right now it's a feed every other day, with a slight increase in ppm, monkey juice alone. I just gave them a watering of RO 0ppm with sensizym @ 5ml/L on this last one, they looked like they were beginning to claw. The runoff was a measly 600ppm so looks like we're still on track. I know she's a moderate to light feeder. So steady as she goes.

I have flipped the switch as of 9/4, so I guess today 9/5 is day 1 of 12/12. Do you guys switch to the bloom formula of Monkey Juice on day 1 12/12? I will update soon with some more pics. You guys are right it might be a bit jungle up in here, but thats the point I guess, I really wanna shoot for 16z this one. they should grow to 3x their current height! =) Next 2 weeks should be interesting! =)

yeah my babies in coco are getting at least 750 ppm -850 ppm in their nutrient feedings, and as long as i am keeping the nitrogen levels nice and high i am seeing no signs of nute burn whatsoever. i do have high nute use strains however, andi know that makes a pretty significant difference. when i flip to flower i fully intend to increase the ppm to at least 1000, and by full flower will be as high as 1200.

They are looking good, day 4 12/12 today. They had 690ppm of Monkey Juice A+B today, 700ppm tomorrow, 150ppm of that is cal/mag. So I'm up to watering everyday as of tomorrow. Also as of tomorrow I *should* have the drip system setup. We'll see about that. Ohh I hope they dont get too crazy in there, but I think I have the height. I also cleaned up the lower parts a bit, I'll do that again in a few days as they get even bigger.

only word for this is lovely! Great rows man, so clean and neat. Great nutrients sounds like you know what your doing! You took a lot of clones too? Dude your on it, keeping only the best clones. Look at them all perfectly the same in height almost! Great work man! Seriously I am bookmarking and staying still, PEACE

Damn Caligreen! Thanks for the compliments man! I did take alot of clones, and I guess thats the way your supposed to do it ehh? But for some reason or another, some ended up quite a big bigger than others, really weird, everythings been done the same.

Thanks for stopping by Seed Buyer, glad I could be of inspiration! Didnt expect to do that hehe!

Next up on the agenda, is to get the drip system up and running! Hand watering every day at the moment.

Here they go, day 10 flower.

I'm seeing some deficincies and I dunno whats up. I think honestly, I'm being a little gun shy on the nutes. I dont think I've increased the ppm's enough to keep up with their growth. In other words, they damn near doubled in size in the last week, but I only bumped it up 100ppm. It also looks like a bit of cal-mag trouble, check the one leaf pictured.

Currently I'm hand watering every day, with full strength nutes. In other words this weeks ppm's are 800, so every night I mix up a batch of nutes and measure out to 800ppm. The next morning check/adjust PH, and water to waste. I am feeding 5 days in a row, then the 6th day I water them with sensizym @ 0ppm. Then rinse repeat. My problem I can already see is not steadily increasing the ppms in line with growth.

The Jungle...

The one deficiency pic...

Hey C_Q nice grow! I'm looking to use your plants per sq ft ratio for my own space. How tall did you veg them and what final height are you shooting for?

And sorry bout your deficiency, hope you get it sorted. Wish I could help, but I'm something of a new jack.

Good luck!

i think they are looking pretty good as a whole since you bumped up the nute intake. i can't stress enough the INCREDIBLE results i have seen over 1000 ppm in soilless mediums. be careful becasue as mentioned before some strains are different. but if what your growing is a nute hog like some of the chemdawg family lines that used these high numbers in the past, you won't be dissapointed. i don't want to encourage soemthing that might hurt your plants, but you seem to have a good idea with your progressive ppm increases to keep a close eye out for burn.

Hey guys welcome back everybody!

Destro, nice to hear you will be kicking off something similar, I think you will be very happy with the results. The growth has been outstanding! And the health at the moment seems ok, a little def here n there. As far as how high I veg etc, I kinda just play it by ear nowadays, and watch them by eye to see how big they get. There was no real planning in that regards. I think they were about 10-12" when I flipped them. They ended up around 3'3" avg. Tallest ones look around 3'7"-3-8". Everything depends on your strain of course, and this clone that was given to me, is an incredibly fast growing strain!

suckerrepellent, I think your right, I wanna see some super fat buds come harvest! Already they are starting at week 3 around 900ppm and they seem to be doing just fine. Just started adding in Big Bud, starting at 150ppm and working up to 300ppm at peak. Cal-Mag is standard in my rez now @ 125-150ppm. Will start adding some carboload in week 4+ and a little scorpion juice for trichage around wk6 =) Also gonna start adding fulvic to the rez.

Dankerz, welcome aboard buddy =D

Ok so here are some pics. They have grown a little bit more since these pics, I'll get you guys some better ones in a few days. The buds are setting in now, and I've gotten rid of most of the popcorn lower stuff, although I still left some, I can never quite get it right. Finally got everything for the drip system so I will get that up and running tomorrow and take some pics. These babies need 2x watering at least by now. I'm still hand watering daily and it's a pita! Also, I'm def going recirc, too much water/nute waste!

Odd curling/light green/yellow looking growth, ph?

I can't tell ya what it is but high ppm just work for me. I do take notice of all the peoples warnings, but i can just push it a bit further for some reason. maybe its because im using the AN line. I believe they are intended for hydroponics, so perhaps they translate to the coco better than the pbp line for example. Let me know how that scorpion works, its one of the few AN products I don't have. The guy at my grow shop highly recommended I get into the Green Fuse line last run during flower and I loved the bloom nute. im trying the veg nute now, but i really liked the bloom. I literally saw a resin difference only a few days into its use. It's the one on the far left (foreground I suppose).

you posted those last pics whilst I was writing that message. Looks like you could have the whole next crop rooted and vegged with those clippings right when this one is done. Get a good cycle goin!
