Super Easy DIY Bubble Cloner

Guest

This isn't organics-specific, but this is my favorite forum here at ICMag so...

I've tried a few different bubble cloners, all DYI. They all worked equally well, so it just becomes a matter of the space you have for the cloner and also the quantity of clones you need to take and the frequency.

I built a couple bigger cloners and realized that I really only needed to pull my cloner out every couple months and only for 8-12 cuttings.

So I made two of these little fellas. The hardest part was drinking all the shitty coffee. :yoinks: Just kidding, the coffee container was from my office.

That plumbing fitting is used as a weight to hold the airstones on the bottom.

I use plain tap water. Room temps 75F. Takes 10-15 days. I use 1x1" squares of mouse pad foam with holes in the middle to hold the cuttings.

Peace and Carrots.

Very nice canine. I made a mini one also, when they are small like that you don't need a heater. The temps seem to stay consistent and good for growth.

I use the same exact setup pretty much but just use cheesecloth to hold the clones.
I also use wooden airstones as they break the air up into way smaller bubbles, but it requires quite a bit more in the way of an air pump.

those holes are large enough to pull roots through carefully. if your roots are too developed to fit through those holes you should pull them from the cloner earlier, IMO.

especially with a smaller cloner, if you're letting the roots get that developed they're going to intertwine with each other in the bubbler and you'll damage them when you finally separate them. wait for roots about 1/2" to 1" long and then transplant.

i've seen canine's Folgers bubbler in another thread... he usually used 1" squares of mousepad foam with a hole punched in the middle and then a slot cut from the edge of the square to the hole in the middle.

you can also use small 1" sections of rubber tubing.

If I grew marijuana I would say: "In my micro-bubbler [I should get some pictures of it...] I've got the clones submerged about a half-inch to an inch in the water. The idea is that it's just like cloning with a glass of water, but you have much more exposure to air for the cuttings and thus it takes much less time. For my container I've got a 5 x 12 inch Tupperware container...but it was clear, so I've wrapped it in tin foil for darkness and the added benefit of temperature control. My clones however are from a plant that I'm re vegging. Despite what I've seen on the forums, my Marijuana Grow Bible [the one by Greg Green], makes it very clear that if these clones are given the extra time to root, there should be no problem with potency/genetic integrity. Yield can be slightly reduced, but not by much. Or not at all if you know what your doing. Then the cuttings that I take from these current cuttings will be the most stable ones yet."

But I don't grow marijuana, it's illegal and I have no desire to break the law. :) [Can't wait until my proxy is back up....]

how far down do you put the clones in relation to the water?

simple-
there are more ways to clone than there are to skin a cat. this has been the easiest, cleanest, fastest way for me (bubblers).

(my opinion with getting cuttings to root is the more complicated the method, the less effective and reliable it is. i don't worry at all about pH, don't need a dome, don't mist, any water temp 70-80 works great, etc.)

but in my personal experience with cloning in my bubblers, I can submerge the tip of the cutting and it will root just fine, but will take 2-4 days longer than a cutting whose tip is 1" or so above the surface.

Shame on you, picking on a poor little bubble cloner. Pick on a cloner your own size!

Well it's "cutting it" if all you do is grow for personal smoke like most here. You sound like a real goon
