Super Cheap Mass Cloner

I know in other clonning methods you are supposed to take off the cover of the clones to let fresh co2 in right? So many minutes a day or what?

Yellow dome?

Yellow dome?

Okay, my physics is lacking:

My humidity dome is made of yellow plastic. Will the yellow plastic only allow yellow light in, or will it let all light in but yellow?

IOW, Will this hurt the clones' development?

I guess I will just experiment on a few cuttings when I make a wick cloner. Maybe just dip the cuttings in an anti-wilting gel or sumthing to help them.

Around here, as long as the humidity is above 50% RH wick and bubble cloning don't seem to need a dome. I had a bit of wilt once when the RH fell to 45% steady for a day or so...

Hello all,

Krusty, in answer to your questio- the majority of light that passes through the yellow plastic-most of it is absorbed except the yellow band of light.

Like leaves are green because all the colors of white light are absorbed except green which is reflected back fromteh leave surface.

So...

Is a yellow dome any good?

I just wanted to say that this thing works!!! Took about 2 weeks for any roots to show, all the cuttings of the HTC powerhouse I took are showing roots, about 8. Spent 15 dollars on all the materials. Now i can continue the growing through the winter months without seeds. Yay.

So the water slowly wicks up and then the perlite wicks it around more? Why not just submerge the lowest lvl of perlite and not have to have two containers?

its a pain in the ass trying to 'water' perlite, unless its mixed with something that absorbs more water (vermiculite) than it.

There is just pearlite... and it works great without any changes...
Try building one... and side by side dump some pearlite in a container of water and use it too, see what works out better... Wicking the moisture up into the pearlite (nothing else, just nice clean white pearlite) maintains a nice oxygen rich moist zone for the new roots to form...
