SULFUR PLASMA LIGHTING!!!! 100% SUN

Are these things reliable? Assuming thermal management doesn't fail, is their data on how long these things last at continuous duty?

They cost like 6x an HID setup, and payback in two grows only makes sense if like everything else about your grow is free.

the way i did the math was assuming that you'd get 60% heavier yeilds as the cuc's did.
So if you can get a P per bulb without then you'd get a P and a half using these.
so half a p is worth about 1250 so ya in 2.5 grows these should be paid off.

wow second. thanks for all the great info.. and thanks to the prev poster asking aobut sun plulse. I have been looking at those as well..

Second.. i def hear over and over again about hortie blues.. and I actualy enjoy flowering with mh... Im runing a meager 400w mh in flower right now... do u think i would notice a big dif in switching to a 400w horti blue?? the lower lumen number has always through me off..

what would u recomend as a cheaper alternative than the horti blues? better yet to go with a nextgen ballast... id say 600w... what would be a good pulse start bulb that is reasonably priced? do u like sunmaster bulbs?

sorry to get tangenty but u know a lot about light and i want to pick ur brain..

Heats always a problem where im at. that why i like the 400w.. and arent MH bulbs cooler running thatn HPS bubls.. why is that anyway?

It depends upon a few things: distance to the canopy, the ballast, the reflector and the age of the lamp. I for one would use the Horti blue 400w MH vs. other 400w MH. OTOH, a 400w CMH could a good option just like Horti blue. But in flowering I don't like to use less than 600w to insure high irradiance.

I would get a digital ballast for sure. A 600w HPS (Horti Super HPS) is what I use for flowering right now and I usually pull 1.5-2 pounds per 600w over 3x3 with 1 plant per sq foot using LUI (about 3' high at harvest) :)

But as soon as I can afford it I am switching over to the Horti Blue 1000w with digital ballast and PL reflector...assuming it can emit high irradiance over 1,300 PPFD at reasonable distance. I will test with a quantum sensor...

The only pulse-start lamps I know of are CMH and the SunPluse. SunMaster is probe-start AFAIK.

hmmm, maybe you dont realize that these ARE the same exact plasma's that were out years ago with the same shitty spectrum.

why dismiss what people say, when they have tried to grow with them? do you, or are you going to distributing them? maybe thats why you like them so much?

just like led's, waste of money.........you will never, ever see a big op with plasma or led's.....

I totally agree it isnt efective to run a grow you can't see because the spectrum is pink&purple.. PROPPER SHIT.

I was hounded by a company selling plasma lightsat this years expo they were $3500 for a 1000w replacement as a prototype and it looked even worse than my fluros. I will only change from HID to Sunlight,,,,

Dont these things burn at like 900 degrees or something? I seem to remember they had excellent UV output but other than that... what pray tell is the point? I can totally outfit a analog HPS for about $250. That means for 3500 I could easily throw up a 5k hps tent. Yeah im really sure the enhanced(supposedly) spectrum will pay off long run instead of 5k har har.

Anyways, isn`t the amount of heat a light produces a direct reference(eh basically i mean) to how much energy they waste?

This makes me happy because my next cab is going to be a 250w CMH with a PL deep reflector i got for $50. I was so happy!

When you mean the you dont like flowering with less than a 600w due to high irradiance are you referring to PPFD? Do you have anything comparing the the most used ballasts wattages-250w, 400w, 600w, 1000w? I would just like to see how the same kind of bulb, but different wattage compares in relation to others. Is it really that much greater than a 400w CMH? My small space would only allow to one size bigger which would be a 400w.

Wow! That's a great deal! What model do you know? The "midi"?

Yup, I am worried 400w can't provide enough irradiance, I have never flowered with less than a 600w HPS, usually a 1,000w.

No I don't have data yet, that is what I will do with the quantum sensor. The difference in PPFD is large, but a 400w can grow great cannabis for sure. And it can be kept closer to the canopy which increases PPFD. Go for it! :)

thanks second.. I only pull about 1/4lb to 1/2 lb in a 4x4 closet.. usualy 6 plants.

My 400 is not very effecient. I would love to step up to a digi 600w. My only concern is temperatures.

Excuse my ignorance as far as kelvin. I always thought the dif kelven represents the par of that bulb...

How do you feel about the 600w and 1000w bulbs that have dual spectrum. HPS and MH built into the bulb. ?

I enjoy how the MH in flower keeps my plants compact and they seeme togrow more vigorous.

actually most of the sites and items i mentioned are new and not on the market, maybe a form has been released in the past but no these are all new. thanks
I am sure this has been confirmed by page 4 but I read about these at least 10 years ago in High Times. I remember there being too much interference for use in residential areas. Maybe they have the shielding down now. It is intriguing technology but not nearly new.

It was the regular deep model. I dont mind, its the perfect size for my little cab i just couldnt pass up the deal.

Well unfortunately I'm going to have to wait until i make my money back on this 250w which is only around $100 w/ CMH bulb. I was origninally doing a grow for just myself on a low wattage basis but thats now changed so i will probably upgrade after my next grow. I will also go for a bigger garden i have a feeling i'm going to be struggling with my 2.2 sq ft cab. just gonna pack it with smaller plants and less triaing than usual.. If heat isn't an issue which it shouldn't be i'll go for the 400w or better yet a 600w in a bigger cab. For now this is what i have to work with though

I cant wait to see some data which makes sense. What would this community do without haha. My main thing was i wanted to stray away from normal HPS bulbs ands the 250w CMH allowed me to do this. I'd send you my bulb and ballast for testing also if necessary. I also have a 150w HPS if you get the equipment and want to try different wattages.

Cool. I prefer the deep vs. the midi. My favoirty is the "maxima" but the deep is my second favorite and should offer higher PPFD vs the midi.

Sounds great man, I am not trying to say a 250w or 400w grow isn't worth it, it certainly is, and I am sure will you have great success. GL! :)

Sure, I will test all lamps and wattages I can, absolutely. I also think it's about time we get some real data and stop the guessing games! :)

I think you'll go great! GL! :)

No worries, I thought you were joking with me. I hope I didn't come across as rude.

I have not looked into them, can you offer me a link?

You'll be happy to know that the new plasma's are cooler than HPS, but i am not sure about MH bulbs. Probally similare or cooler the plasmas would be if they are recommending that they can be closer than HPS.
I use the Hortilux Blue bulbs myself but they are no good for flowering stages compared to HPS I have found over many grows.

NEW???? That's the same old spinning sulpher bulb that has been around for the last 10 years. They've only improved the drive electronics and mechanics. Sulpher is sulpher, same thing.

Only an idiot would flower with a Hort blue. And a bigger idiot after "many grows".

you're a retard, i don't know how to respond. So you have used these bulbs?
