Strains with strong, pronounced flavor?

Blueberry

Blueberry

I think Blueberry strains smell best.
I had some Dutch Passion Blueberry runs that smell just like blueberry muffins. Yum.

Lol I hear that and have bought some 5.5" 2 quart pots to throw in my system to see if any difference in yield mostly but I saw none. Maybe because its SOG coco and no veg time clones... But I run roughly 106 of them under a 1000w and 600w combined, getting anywhere from 5-22 grams per, strain dependant of course. I flush starting week 8, after my Koolbloom dry gets a few days in the res and pull end of week 10 as long as trics scope minimum 90% cloudy with few ambers, sometimes a few clear.

Ding, ding, ding! I think you just gave us the answer! It appears you're growing more for quantity instead of quality. Not a whole lot of difference between 1 Qt. and 2 Qt. IMO. If it were me I'd grow in at least 1 gallon pots and let them veg for awhile instead of throwing them right into flower as you are now doing.

With all those strains you've tested you should have had your taste-buds jumpin'. Speaking of that, do you taste foods normally or do most taste bland? Maybe you just have taste-buds that taste things differently than most.

I'll admit Hortilab has caught my eye, seems to be an under the radar breeder with some solid strains with only negative in my eye is that I don't believe they used ECSD clone in there breeding but Rez SD IBL. Maybe that's just me being picky but yes there sour power and Starbud sound awesome. Do you still grow it?

Yes i do.

I believe the rez ibl is under-rated, especially when the boss males show up.

(Your favorite female x sour ibl male) x sour ibl male = dy no myte

Interesting info, I was actually pondering some of those rez beans still up on the bou, the CDD 1.1, the 4-D, the ibl and chemSD. I was one of the buyers of his very first CDD drop years ago though I only grew out a few seeds and didn't turn out so well. Was one of my first grows ever. Unfortunately the exwife threwout those along with Rez first packs of Snowdog and many long gone strains. Prob 10-15 packs.

Of what I've grown over the last 2 years, Yumbolt has the strongest flavor. Sweet earthy/piney. Expansive smoke. A small bit of Drizella BX gifted to me also has excellent flavor. More nutty with camphor/menthol on the exhale. Smoother, not expansive. A sample of SLH from a local shop had very strong flavor that I actually didn't care for, but some people seem to love it. Skunks always taste good to me, while the rest of what I've grown & shared since coming back to cannabis fades to obscurity in my memory, even the Chem lines.

This grow is Rishi Kush, the wife's fave, which has good flavor, & No Mercy Special which I've not grown before. I have a pack of Queen Mother which may be next, supposedly excellent flavor.

Also I'm starting to think "curing" isn't all its cracked up to be. Those strains with dominant flavors had it from moment they were chopped, even quick dried in microwave with early tester buds. So wether its a matter of a strain having it or not in those phenos or its possibly something in those two genetics, which i believe are similar, in bubba and La Confiential. Affie?
The blueberry flavor also seemed to dissipate the longer it cured.

I've thought maybe I'm just not finding that flavorful pheno, mostly I only pop 3-4 seeds per strain at a time but that's still about 40 plants from seed in total. It sucks being on the east coast and not having clones to share and trade, I would be able to run a known flavorful clone to see if its my methods that are keeping me from finding my grail.

PS. I also forgot about Sour Bubble Bx2 I grew that also had the same dominant flavor, very similar to bubba and again similar genetics.

Yep. Proper drying and curing helps bring it out but you're right. Some weed is just way more potent in smell and taste right out the box.

I grew some leftover mixed seeds from Rez and one had a Sour Diesel influence that overpowered my filter. I still horde the final remnants for those times I want to go have FUN!. The difference in taste, smell, and high is like belting a shot of whiskey. It's very abrupt and wakes you right up. Even though it stinks and tastes nasty, everybody kept asking for it and I myself like to smoke it when I need lots of energy. It was just too stinky to keep on with.

In my experience smell/flavor are lost when the buds are dried out too quickly. I wrote a bunch of other stuff but that is pretty much all it comes down to.

I tried these Boveda packs once and will never touch them again. Buds from the same mango haze plant that were cured "manually" at 62% rh kept a MUCH nicer smell AND flavor then those within container with boveda packs after drying all together.

The biggest difference that I found in flavour was how I trimmed. I also used to have buds that lacked smell and flavour. I read around on here and someone suggested dry trimming my plants. Take off the big fans and anything without frost but leave ALL sugar trim on the plant. Leaving the sugar trim on the plant helps to slow down the drying process by a good few days at least. Then once you do trim when the buds are dried enough for the 'stem crack' trim off all the sugar trim. You'll fin that your buds look, smell and taste fucking amazing compared to wet trimmed buds.

Give it a go this next harvest!

I have about 40 ready to harvest so I'll give it a try on 1 or 2 of each strain. Have WiFi, strawberry diesel kush, firefly, sweettooth #3 and jacks cleaner 2. Also in about 50 days I'll have additional agent orange, chernobyl, synergy, golden triangle and budda Tahoe og.

Appreciate the wealth of info recieved on here and hope to find some gems. Also looking into traveling to west coast for some clones to run through my system, adding another light and building another system to compare as well....unfortunately variables and possibilities are endless!

Drying slow and even, but not too slow. If u let the moisture stay too long it kills the flavor. Then for me the most skunky, pungent strains are best with a short cure, while more complex, yet subtle, mainly sativa influenced herbs favor a longer cure. Also I think when a bud is spongy at all it takes away some flavor, so I think that around 45% rh is best to taste the flavor.

Lemon G is full flavor to the end. A plushberry cut is excellent flavor as well as death star. Bubba Kush really stands out for me as well. A sour D ibl I have is phenomenal for flavor as well. Any of these strains can come out weak for flavor if not grown to potential. If u have a strain that is known for excellent flavor already, then u know its something ur doing that is the problem.

I seen ur bagging ur herb after 4 to 6 days at 70%. that's the bulk of ur problem. Try slow drying for 10 to 15 days down to 45 to 50% then start ur sealing and check for moisture coming out of the middle. If it gets spongy then pull it all out at 45 to 50% humidity again till its at that rh. Then ur golden to store and cure, and should have that excellent flavor ur looking for.

my buddy does this too....hangs the whole plant for only four days and basically trims it wet....his main focus is not quality of the finished product, but how fast he can turn it into loot at the highest price possible....he just changed moms because his cut (some Bay Area purple) no longer demanded the nice price he used to and now has a new mom (a really nice cut of sfv) that he seems to get a solid and consistent nice price, cause its good and its what the market demand is now....i tried to tell him to cure in giant jars for a month and let it really pop, then you can get more money possibly....but its all about the time.....the time spent doing that sort of thing is a turn off for him....hes all about that schedule and that timely moola.......sux to rely on a harvest to pay bills....not really my style, although i resspect the cats that do it, cause i know how much work it is to do correctly....but man, that takes fun out of growing for me....canna is an escape away from the evils and troubles of money for me.....to each is own.....its whatever is important to you thats important, theres many skools of thought on canna...go for your own goals in the game...peace and mentholyptus apple grease, all over your mug, doug.......

91 SVA x Bubba Kush (CSI-Humboldt genetics)...

almost forgot....you have some stinkers in that seed list.....grab that sour kush from reserva privada, and that dope looking lemon haze x og kush and grow them out, with all love and without cutting corners, take them full term, flush them well, dry them slow.....and cure them up right where you get that perfect ratio of moisture/dryness in the buds, and the nose and hopefully the flavor will 'pop' like crazy.....and youll be soooooooo high and happy, youll have a big ol stupid grin on your face, like when the Grinch is sketchily smilin down on Whoville.....trust......"Square Flowers" we dont cut corners....you to shall have a beard of mentholyptus and a head in cased inside a green apple jolly rancher in no time.....hope some of this helped....good luck.....the hunt is the most exciting part.....enjoy the ride! be blessed....steel

Well a little update... This past harvest I did as some of you recommended and left all leaves on a few plants until dried, about 6-7 days, then trimmed and jarred. Going on about 10-11 days and not noticing much of a difference in taste, maybe a slight increase. I think my next grow I'm going to try lowering EC to .7-1.0...maybe add some additives? Any recs?

Excited for some new strains and disappointed my order from seedsman wouldn't go through so no Sour Kush or archive seeds. On plus side I got

Redeye- Grapist and Grease F2
Exotic- Future(GG#4 x Starfighter)
Seed junky- Walker Mints(Skywalker OG x animal cookies)

how many Golden Triangles did you run? How many weeks did you flower them?? I got that same strain, and am very excited to run it, cause i knoooooow there are some tasty flavs and smells in those genes....trust....Bodhi has good positive vibes, uses legit clones for his hybrids and that combo of TK, Cush aka Green Crack, and Tres Dawg genes holds some heavy hitters without a doubt....

Dank Frank...you said, "Curing aside, go with a fully amended organic soil where all you have to do is water and you'll find what you've been missing. Let the plant decide what the plant wants - and stop forcing your own personal impressions upon the plant...and allow for true genetic characteristics to surface. This as opposed to what Botanicare or AN, or Floranova, etc...say the plant should be...let the plant be in control.

I want/need to learn more about this...can you mentor me?
