Strains with strong, pronounced flavor?

Looking for strains that have flavor. Something that is right upfront and bold. I don't know if its me, my growing methods, taste buds or bad phenos.... Far to often I see people describe strains with wonderful flavors of grapefruit, lemon, orange...and yet I can find it in the scent, but not in the smoke or vapor.

Only two strains that had a very bold flavor was La Condfidential, which i loved and recently acquired seeds again, and pre 98 bubba kush with was a little too earthy for my taste. I also grew some blueberry x white rhino that had a slight blueberry muffin taste on exhale but it wasnt bold, you had to "look" for it so to speak.

Strains I've grown or currently growing and find to come up short in flavor are sweettooth #3, strawberry diesel kush, jacks cleaner 2, critical mass, Golden Triangle, firefly, querkle, WiFi, ak-47, white rhino(greenhouse and serious) and g-13 x haze. Also flowering Chernobyl, Agent orange, Synergy and budda Tahoe but have yet to harvest any of them.

I've read and done the curing threads even jarring for 1-2 months, smoked through small glass pipe, water bubbler, joints and that $300 arizer fancy vaporizer I bought.... some have phenomenal scent like JC2, sweet tooth and WiFi but the smoke just doesn't carry the flavor.

So in ending, do you know of any strains that have unmistakable flavor?

Try psycho Crack from Sick Meds (green Crack x Psychosis). Very good smoke with a wicked berry like smell that will make you eyes water (in a good way) when you open the jar

Find a good pheno of pineapple express? I remember when I tasted some, it was totally pineapple taste from inhale to exhale, I could even taste it in my mouth afterwise, and the buzz was really nice, like first it was kind of euphoric and after couple of bong hits totally stony :D probably alot of tasty strains out there, but you just have to find the right pheno

Every single cut that's ever come through my garden, in the last 7 years. Bag seed to elite cut... they all have strong flavor.

Your strain list reads like a bag of massive flavors. It's not the cannabis that's flavorless. You have a ton of information to absorb about growing cannabis. Then you get to discover how to actually use that info properly.

Welcome to the wide wide world of reality.

Keep it Clean! :D

gotta get the flower time dialed .. i notice a huge increase in smell the last few weeks of flower.. try taking a few strains a little longer then you normally do.. see if that helps at all .

IN my experience, it's been more about growing and harvesting method than genetics when trying for more pronounced flavor. Some things that helped me were slowing down drying and pre-curing period to around 2 weeks (before jarring). Lengthening flower times has helped with some strains but not all. I also noticed an increase in smell and flavor after switching to guano based organic growing.

You've got a great line up of stuff to choose from ... I totally agree on the need for a robust flavor. It intertwines with the buzz and makes the weed memorable.

You might want to pop that critical + from dinafem ... I ran like 4 freebies seeds, all had nice flavor, but one pheno was way off the scale, super pronounced. Didn't matter if you cured it or not, didn't matter if you left a roach sitting for a week then hit ... the flavor was always there and always unmistakable. It also reeked up the grow room like nothing else I've ever run; but that's part and parcel of the big taste deal usually.

I think dry time is most important, followed by curing. Extend your dry time, but don't let it get too dry. Theres no bringing back and curing overly dried bud.

they have these humidity gauges that you can put on the lid of your jars to help you know when to open or not that a lot of growers at the farmers market rock on their jars so patients can see how well it's cured. I've always liked that. I've been reading about freezer curing just because it is supposedly supposed to act like a drying chamber for you so you don't have to worry so much. you could stick a sack in there to compare.

I'm super interested in your Mt Rainier. how do you like that so far?

Thanks for all replies, I guess I should have said my grow/curing methods.
Setup
SOG in coco- 4.5"(1 quart) pots, top-drip fed
freshly rooted clones 0-7 days veg depending on strain

Feed
Floranova Bloom in RO at 1.3-1.5EC
Floralicious Plus at 1ml per gal
Koolbloom liquid at .5-1.0ml per gallon weeks 3-8
Koolbloom dry at 1.5 tsp per 10 gallon in week 7 or 8

Cut/Cure
I usually chop at 70 days, trics are 90% cloudy, few clear, few amber, except Strawberry Diesel Kush seems to go 77-80.
I do all trimming wet and hang for 4-6 days.
I use humidity guages so there usually in 70-80% at that point and they get brown bagged for 24-48 hours until under 70%.
Jars get lids off until under 65% and then sealed, only getting burped every few days.

Also I'm starting to think "curing" isn't all its cracked up to be. Those strains with dominant flavors had it from moment they were chopped, even quick dried in microwave with early tester buds. So wether its a matter of a strain having it or not in those phenos or its possibly something in those two genetics, which i believe are similar, in bubba and La Confiential. Affie?
The blueberry flavor also seemed to dissipate the longer it cured.

I've thought maybe I'm just not finding that flavorful pheno, mostly I only pop 3-4 seeds per strain at a time but that's still about 40 plants from seed in total. It sucks being on the east coast and not having clones to share and trade, I would be able to run a known flavorful clone to see if its my methods that are keeping me from finding my grail.

PS. I also forgot about Sour Bubble Bx2 I grew that also had the same dominant flavor, very similar to bubba and again similar genetics.

Coco and GH isnt the best if you are after flavor. Sulfur helps in the development of terpenes. Molasses helps with micro and trace elements including sulfur. Microbes are the real deal when it comes to this area of plant development. Make sure you take them the full term then wait a little longer before harvest. Cold cure near freezing for the best flavor. there is a thread about it in the drying curing section. You doubt its curing eh? LOL microwave samples? ...lmao:laughing:

Your taking my "microwave sample" out of context. I was referring to the fact that the strains I did find that had that pronounced flavor, had it no matter how, when or what way it was harvested. Clearly I'm not using that method as the basis for my smoking palate testing. Clearly 99% of my crop is getting what I believe to be a proper cure.

On your helpful comments, thank you and I have thought about it not being an organic grow and/or soil. I am under the impression that floranova(not flora) was a nice balance between somewhat natural and organic and ease of one-part nute as it says on the bottle.

Also I'm starting to think "curing" isn't all its cracked up to be.

Curing is different on every strain, in my honest opinion. Some really benefit from it and the flavors get more complex and shift into a whole new paradigm...other times it fades and it seems like something is lost to age.

I liken it to wine - you aren't going to age a "table wine" 15 years - if you do....LOL...you get a rotten bottle...you lose the product in the aging.

For example sake - I think GSC is best after a month cure, that's when the flavor really pops. Chem lines I like to smoke after a week in the jar and hope it's all gone by the end of the 4th week or it seems something is lost....

So really, it just depends, in my honest opinion.

Curing aside, go with a fully amended organic soil where all you have to do is water and you'll find what you've been missing. Let the plant decide what the plant wants - and stop forcing your own personal impressions upon the plant...and allow for true genetic characteristics to surface. This as opposed to what Botanicare or AN, or Floranova, etc...say the plant should be...let the plant be in control.
