Weekly Update Flower Day 7

Weekly Update Flower Day 7

Today marks the end of the first week of flower and the ladies are well into the stretch. I am running 1.8ec of caljim's suggested ratio and the ladies are loving it. Just now starting to see the slightest tip burn so will back things down to 1.6 this coming week.

I have read much anecdotal evidence suggesting that higer ec values are necessary under high power cobs and based on the ladies performance so far I am inclined to believe it. I am dealing with much more stretch this time which I'm sure is a reflection of the higher ec values. I'll just keep bending tops over as necessary until they finish stretching as I really like the way they are looking.

It looks like I will be doing some serious defoliation in about two weeks. The room is going to be full.

Next update in a week unless I manage to screw something up.

Peace,

That morning shot with the flash :yummy:. Looking like they are setting up for some serious flower production

I'm on the edge. Of what I'm not sure.

Looking good Starke. Wall to wall tops.

1.8 is coming in pretty hot. You may want to check your run off to make sure they are eating all of that. Otherwise... let 'er rip tater chip.

Filling in

Filling in

Looking real nice. I agree with calijim, well fed healthy veg is the key. These monsters are going to put out. Having the drain table I would try to feed more often than you ever have, those bushes will eat it up. You are going to wish you already had a net over them. Puff puff for the hardest stankiest finish.

Looking like a proper jungle in there! Keep feeding them steroids.. ahem I mean nutes:biggrin:. I bet if you ain't careful you could get lost in that thicket.

Thanks! I think the credit on this grow will go to caljim. The Jack's ratio he recommended has made an incredible difference. These are the same strains I have run since beginning this diary. I have never had growth rates and stems like this before. I think on my previous grows I was essentially starving the ladies at the PPK 1:.67 ratio. Maybe it's the increased feeding frequency with PPK that makes it work for PPK, I don't know. I just know that me and the ladies are some happy campers right now. Thanks caljim!

Happy to see that the adjustments that caljim recommended have worked out so well for you. Can't wait to see the final yield numbers. Great job.

Hey...lets not forget Boyd Crowder. His advice with the No Pest Strips was spot on. Its hard to have a successful run without healthy plants.

Very glad to see its working for you. Those plants say it all. Knock that calnit back to the flower ratio and let 'em stack up.

Weekly Update Flower Day 14

Weekly Update Flower Day 14

This is an update in progress and will be completed tonight or tomorrow. Today is the end of two weeks of flower and I have decided to do a fairly extensive defoliation at this point. On the last grow I defoliated at the end of 21 days flower as most of the info I have read has recommended. I will be going out of town for about two weeks somewhere around the 12th and wanted more time to observe their recovery before leaving. As dense as the ladies have filled in, they are badly in need of defoliating anyway.

Looks like about a pan of trim per plant:

More pics and such when I get done. It's taking me about 45 minutes per plant so it will probably be tomorrow before I finish.

Peace,

Flower Day 14 Update Continued

Flower Day 14 Update Continued

Finished defoliating the ladies a few minutes ago and have some more pics. This is by far the most extensive defol I have done. Basically if the growth was not within the top eight inches of the canopy, it was chopped.

I'm not sure if defoliating increases yield but I know I could not maintain the plant density that was there before defol without major risk of mold down the road. Paddi is doing a side by side thread that speaks to the yield issue and I am following it with interest.

Here are the rest of the pics. The before and afters get redundant and I will probably not document this part of the process any further in this diary on subsequent grows.
