Fem seeds still expected to be for sale next month (January?)

I'm certainly looking forward to kicking the tires on this one.

And I do hope that you make your seeds available for purchase through Gypsy at the Seed Boutique. That one choice in terms of resellers would aid greatly on the discussion of Starbud here on ICM.

I can certainly confirm that I plan a grow journal featuring Starbud. So get those seeds grown out and on the way!

Happy New Year everyone! Really glad to hear this was found in the midwest... Is this just the 2nd major strain to come out of this region of the US? Bubblegum was a major one coming out of IN I remember...

Sounds like a great plant, hortilab! What will the cost be per pack? Will they only be sold as feminized seed, or will they be sold as standard sex seed as well? For breeding purposes, I would not buy the feminized seed.

Starbud is a clone selected by us from a seed line we recieved from a private grower from the mid west USA. The exact make up is a mystery.

Why, Very often the lineage of the parents of cannabis cup winner is a mystery...So, I ask the question ^^

It would be easier to get excited about this if the lineage was clear.

Hello everybody~

Hello everybody~

Why, Very often the lineage of the parents of cannabis cup winner is a mystery...So, I ask the question ^^

@Braindead#1: Thanks for the props. But which question do you mean? About the linage? Actually I think in the history of the HTCC there are some mystery winners but also many strains where the linage is "pretty" clear.

It would be easier to get excited about this if the lineage was clear.

@stasis: I hear you and can assure you that we at "HortiLab" have no intention whatsoever to detain any info about our breeding projects.

Facts are:

1) Currently we are the ONLY ones worldwide working the original "Starbud" clone.

2) In the case of the "Starbud" all we know about the linage is what was already posted in this thread.

Starbud is a clone selected by us from a seed line we recieved from a private grower from the mid west USA. The exact make up is a mystery.

After having grown out 100s of seeds and clones from the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Canada and also the USA (and a few other countries as well) we knew the "Starbud" is a winner.
This was confirmed by the judges at the 420 Cup as well as the judges from the "Berkley Patients Group" at the 22nd HTCC.

Personally I would describe the taste of the Starbud as a bit hashy, the smell as a more subtle sweet dankness which still reeks and has that "wow" effect for most people who get a whiff.

Please be aware that the person we received the "seedline" from, by NO means is a private breeder but a private grower who has been supplying himself and a small group of friends for a long time.

An accidental pollination from an overlooked male in his room (actually a modified shipping container), resulted in the seeds, we received and selected the "Starbud" from.

Again, be assured that we share all lineage details if we DO KNOW them.
Nobody that sampled the "Starbud", yet, could relate it to a strain he or she was familar with.
Some guys from the states told us they smelled something similar a couple of years back in Las Vegas, but there is no connection we are aware of.

Looks a lil like sensi star<<

@Oliver Pantsoff: Thanks for the kind words & k+!! By the way...damn...you are right...Starbud is actually a "Sensi Star X Power Plant" cross....j/k!!!!

I do not think that all the plants which won cannabis cup have a "pretty" clear lineage....Best example, ask gyspsy What he thinks about the background of DNA cup winner strains....

HTCC It's only a marketing party for commecial breeders....Why never see we sam, shantibaba, or another great breeder?, We can see only "ARJAN", "DNA crew", Barney's, so boring...amazing.

But, in def, I wish you all the best....

@Braindead#1: Thanks for the kind words! We are aware of all those stories concerning some companies...and yes, it seems that the "Peoples Cup" seems to be won by the same big players (coffeeshops) who invest lots of money in promotion, freebies etc every year.

But in case of the "Seed Company Cups", namly the Indica & the Sativa Cup, I can totally assure you that the celebrity judges (in our case very experienced "Berkley Patient Group" reresentatives) did a 100% fair blind judging.

All we did was deliver our entry and pay the entry fee...as did around 30 different seed companies....and also the big ones like Barneys, Greenhouse etc...we did not promote our entry at all.

Same during the IC Cup 09....all we did was entered and won the competition...no promotion during the event whatsoever. :dance013:

Exactly...actually Sam and Rob did sample some of our super melty Starbud bubble hash after we won the "Indica Cup" at the 22nd Cannabis Cup.

Just a phun guess: Starbud=Sensi StarxGodbud....:D

Nope...not related to the Sensi Star or Godbud at all as far as we know.
Since even we don´t know the linage of the "Starbud", it will always remain a mystery... :listen2:

@SOTF420: lol... nope, no SOL Blockhead nor LUI in the Starbud!

Actually, the only genetic dating back to original SOL stock we are currently using in other projects, is the original "Sweet Pink Grapefruit" clone.

But now back to the Starbud... :tree:
