I think it was last Thursday morning here in between the finger lakes of NY that at my house the temp was -23 degrees on the mercury thermometer, -15 degrees on my weather station on the roof and lastly -2 degrees on the accuweather app on my “stupid/smartphone…definitely a wide range of temps…but I think I’ll trust the old outdoor mercury thermometer…they’ve been known to be very accurate for many years…anyways that is freakin cold temp…I just remembered back in the 80’s I played a doubleheader gig on a Saturday night in February in Hornell, NY…first at the Ponce De Leon Ristorante for a wedding reception and that night at the Blue Angel bar across the 4 lanes highway…so to try and save time between tear down and setup we left all of my drums kinda set up…like the tom toms still mounted to the kick drum, snare still on the snare stand, floor tom inverted so it wouldn’t fall over and all the cymbals still attached to the stands…loaded them all in a pickup truck with the rest of the gear (took about 3 or 4 trips) and I drew the smallest straw so I had to ride in the back of the pickup to keep the band gear company on all the trips back and forth…all while battling -37 degree weather…not my finest hour but I did make some good bux that night and quickly thawed while playing the Drumskinz!!! And I didn’t have to that maneuver ever again…That’s what roadies are for
