Stanley Blower Fan Mod

could I attach 2 smaller carbon scrubbers to both ends? I was gonna do, one 12" long by 4" opening; but since the stanley has 2 intakes (1 on each end) I was thinking of doing two smaller 5-6" long ones on both end exhausting my grow.. will it work?

The Stanley (lasko) does NOT have two intake openings for air flow. The opening on the side of the switches is for MOTOR COOLING ONLY and has nothing to do with the main air flow. You can only intake from one side of the blower.

Has anyone had any luck finding the stanley blowers in stores? Home depot does not have them right now (Only online).

Edit: Nevermind.. After canceling my with home depot I found it at buy.com for $48 with free shipping... (you have to select budget.. but they say it usually takes much less time than stated)

I should have bought mine at walmart last summer :(

Lasko's are running around 45 in Wally-world. 50 in Home Depot in my area. They have a cool new blue model! lol

By the way does anyone have any experience hooking this up to a NGB style cab? I was planning on running a 2 400w hps super NGB cab with one of the bigger ones on 2. Any suggestions?

How long are these fans reliable for? I read the thread, one guy said he's used it for years and a couple others have said they only last a few months because of neg. pressure. Anyone using these reliably or are you buying them a couple times a year????

Mine has been going for a few years but not in a odor control or ventilation setup for a couple years. Once in a while it makes a high pitched, but quiet, whining noise but it goes away quickly. I still find the extra power outlets to be the most useful part of the fan. The outlets are rated up to 1500w so theres not much you cant plug in.

Alright so I got one, except it's lasko. It's going to be in a tight space inside a wall space, I'm worried about it as a fire hazard though. I mean it's sitting next to the frame of the house sort of inside a wall, I think it might need a metal enclosure or something. Any thoughts...

There should be no fire hazard with that fan. The air coming out of it can be quite humid, and you may want to consider where you are exhausting that moist air. Normally a hot attic will dissipate it quite fast. But I would try not to exhaust the air right on a wall.
BTW, the Stanley fans are made by Lasko.

Final Word? Best mod?

Final Word? Best mod?

Hey there everyone. So I have gone through this entire thread, and many like it on many other forums. So here is my question after so many people have used this for years now.

What is the best way to use this for a carbon scrubber?

With the Stanley's 2nd intake, I don't want to mix unscrubbed air with my scrubbed air. Only scrubbed air should be leaving the cab.

*IMPORTANT QUESTION* does the 2nd intake exhaust with the 1st intake's exhaust. Nobody ever said specifically, I'm just assuming it does.

The options I found on this forum are...

FOR BLOWER AND SCRUBBER INSIDE CAB (less noise is nice)

1. Block the 2nd intake.

2. I forgot the "mod name" but \block the 2nd intake, and drill holes through the 1st intake side to get air into the motor area, thus the 1st intake with drill holes takes care of what you are doing by blocking the 2nd intake.

3. Mount scrubber outside cab, blow OUT through scrubber rather than sucking through carbon scrubber placed inside cab.

-or- (louder)

Mount blower outside cab, scrubber inside, pull through scrubber.

*last option i haven't seen: blower inside cab, scrubber inside cab, add some ducting to pull fresh air from outside cab into 2nd intake on stanley blower. Odd sized opening, prob why I haven't seen this yet.

So experienced users, please grace us with your feedback. And thank you all so much once again.

cheers big ears.

Have used mine for a year now almost continuously pulling through a hood, 400W cmh, plus dragon filter. Keeps temps ca. 4 degrees above ambient, smooth, fairly quiet. A good economical choice.

Do you have a picture or a design of this setup? I am curious about using 1 fan to cool my light and filter the air.
