SPIDERS Pics/bite symptoms?

Guest

Theres tons of spiders where I currently live (way up in colorado mtns)...and they are starting to come in (the house) for the winter.

lets see some horrid spider pics and some "common symptoms" of spider bites

I'm NOT talking about black widows or b. recluses...I've seen and know what they do.

I'm talking less damaging ones, but still a pain.

I know I get sick from a spider bite about once a month, and its kind of like the flu to me ...usually lasts about 24-36 hrs. (are there certain ones to watch out for to avoid this....although I'm sure I'm usually asleep)

I dont kill spiders, as I def. get bit more if I Kill them. (spider karma)

anything else?

*shudders* Oh God I hate spiders with a vengeance.

If I see one in my room I just have to kill it or I'll be wondering where it's lurking all night.
I know it's kind of cruel but hey, he's on my turf...if I were to jump into a huge spiders web I'd expect the bastard to eat me lol.

Hmm, well I can say that Black Widows give off a WICKED bite, but if you're a healthy adult you'll pull out fine. Brown Recluses...those are a bit trickier, odds are good of living however expect nerve damnage.

I don't have any spider bite pictures (I can google some for you if you'd like) however I've been bitting by just about every 8 legged bastard this world has to offer, so I've got a couple tips.

Symptoms of a spider bite vary depending on your individual body. Some people get knocked out by your common house spider, while other people can bounce back from a Hobo Spiders bite in a day or two (though the bite wound clearly is still fresh).

My least favorite spider is the Wolf Spider...they're not overwhelmingly 'violent' however they do LOVE to jump at you. And when I say jump I do mean they can smack you in the face from across the room. If you do have the misfortune of getting bit by one you can expect some moderate bleeding, their fangs are pretty thick and leave a good puncture wound. Like most spider bites shortly after being bitten the area around the wound gets puffy and red, and sometimes pussy. If you're allergic you'll possibly get very itchy and feverish, headaches and muscle spasms can occur depending on the toxicity of the spider. To combat the fever and itching a cold shower does wonders, as does sticking your pillow in the freezer for 15 minutes. If you break out in hives some sort of anti-itch lotion is in order, aloe vera also works fairly well. A lot of water is a must if you are sick, as you want to keep fluids in your system to prevent dehydration. Stay away from asprin, as it'll thin your blood and make the effects much worse.

I spent about 5 days in the hospital from what I think was a spider bite that got infected. The infection traveled up my leg to almost my groin area and caused blood clots in my leg. It's still not right to this day....but the infection took almost a month to go up my leg, and by then it was pretty bad. I hate doctors and hospitals, so I rode it out until it finally wore me down and ended up in the hospital. I say if a bite doesn't go away in a couple days, it might be a good idea to get to a doctor.

yep...its the fever that gets me more than anything.

I dont generally locate the bites, but I've dealt w/ enough that I know what it is.
I have tuff/resiliant skin...almost nothing causes me dis-comfort on my bodies exterior.

My bro-in law had/has massive nerve damage from a brown recluse bite ...over 1/3 of his body.

I can show you 2 black widows in my house right now...but I leave them alone...as they are more help than harm in the bug wars.

Black widows are the type that can sit and not move for days and days at a time...they dont bother me....the ones that are little sprinters bug me out.

Black widows are a very passive spider, however they're very small (well relative to some spiders) and prefer dark places...like shoes. Nearly all bw bites are due to people disturbing them. With that said I wouldn't let black widows live in my house...for the sheer fact that where there's two females (i'm assuming you meant the black bulbous widows, not the puny male counterparts which are HARMLESS) there is bound to be a male at some point. This will leave you with hundreds, if not thousands of tiny Black Widows which while not a threat yet can be, and even immature black widows are poisonous and can cause reactions.

To whomever mentioned the wolf spider, some of them are HUGE. There's technically a shit load of "wolf spiders" however they all look the same to me...and if they jump that's even worse.

The way they always used to scare me was when I'd be reaching under a bed at camp to get an axe or shovel. I'd be down on the floor on all fours reaching underneath a bed and all of a sudden I'd see something propel itself up and outwards. I really hate spiders, so this would often send me into fits of fear followed quickly by the desire to kill everything with eight legs.

Well I'm in the uk, so I hope never to meet a black widow or anything of that nature, but I did just spend a good 5 mins plucking up the courage to capture a house spider. Its trapped at the moment, and I'll let it go outside tomorrow. I need to see it hit the floor outside, as I'm afraid I'll bring it back in with me on my clothing if I let it go in the dark. It's a good 5-6 inches toe to toe though. I hate em with a passion. more than 4 legs, and more than 2 eyes and its not a good animal in my book. But I darent killem, in case their family come looking for me lol.

Not to be a party pooper GMT but all that's stopping a black widow from living in your home is the ocean. Black Widows have no even spread to my new home state, our climate is similar to Englands so there's no reason Black Widows wouldn't flourish over there. One bad bannana shipment is all it'll take...mwahaha...err?

Ahh spiders, my mortal enemy. I have had more than my fair share of brushes with these eight legged bastards from hell. And wolf spiders, yes, get friggin huge. It seems that some of them like to fall from cielings on to you. I have had dozens drop on me like little paratroopers, landing nicely in my shaggy hair. And yeah, they will smack ya from across the room. They will jump and chace you I swear, they seem to know if your scared of em. I have been bit by a male black widow, nothing of consequence....just a regular bite. And damn have I been bitten by a few. The best thing to do is find a frog and an egg sack of spiderlings that has just hatched. Hell, I'll unite forces with the amphibians and hold a few up to the web just for an premium eating location.
And how about tarantulas? Now those are fun. In west Texas you can see scores of them hauling ass across the dirt. I mean a living, scurrying carpet of heeby-jeebies. Millions of them. You could drive a car across and it wouldn't even leave tire ruts, they just keep coming. But theys fun to skip rocks across and watch em fly.

I think I'm the only person in the world to have been stalked by a pet tarantula. A friend of mine was given a tarantula for Christmas (what kinda deviant parents would do that) when he was probably eight. Of course it eventually got lose and while I was over there it made a surprise appearance. From the top of a shelf it drops onto my neck, skuttles down my shirt and takes a hearty chunk out of my back.

This was one of the first times I realized, I fucking hate spiders.
