Spider mites in Flowering

Its a small 8x8 storm cellar. Lights are on at night, and the daytime temps are in the mid 70's usually. Nighttime it gets in the upper 80's. I only have exhaust fans at 24x7, no intakes which I will change later after this grow is done. There are definite webs some are just under the leaves but there are three that had the webs covering the buds. A Vacuum is a great idea, I have a small one with just about the right amount of suction. I will do it tonight. I used my radio shack scope and viewed the little bastards but all of the ones I saw were dead!

Ya, brainthors got the plan. :D

70 in the day, 80 at night, hows that work? I was also thinking you mite (lol) want to be careful what you do with the vacuum and/or vacuum bag, as it will be full of mites. maybe leave it in the room with the strips, and hang one in the closet or whatever that the vacuum stays in.

Thanks brainthor! souns like a plan to me.Should I block the exhaust fan altogether for no air leakage? East Valley, my lights( 1000W MH & 400W HPS) come on at 7:00 pm so that is why the temps are higher at night. I will put a strip in the bag Ha Ha to kill em all! I am also going to add a portable AC with heat at the end of this grow for climate control. It does get a little humid down there. I am also going to add no pest strips in the veg area. Thanks again everyone!

I dont know If you have found your answer. But if you use, predator mites..they call the type I'm buying for spidex, U use this in the area where your plants are, during darkness, and you have to add some beneficial nematodes in your soil to get rid of all new eggs.. If you use the tripex in two doses, with a day in between and yu add the nematodes in the soil, keeping it moist, the first time you add tripex.. then all your bug problems will be gone.. even in the very end of flowering..
ps:: GET YOURSELF A HEPA FILTER ON THE AIR COMING IN TO THE ROOM, THEN THIS WILL NEVER BE A PROBLEM AGAIN!!!

when the plant is dead the mites will leave...and yes block the exhaust...no air in or out...you want the chemical to build up in the space...peace

I dont get your question brainthor. Day time temps are ambient air temps. It's in the 80's here during the day right now but the room stays a little cooler. My lights are on at night which is why the temps are hotter at night. They are on from 7 at night until 7 in the morning.

Yes, and have been using them repeatedly for years with 100% effectiveness. There are a lot of people here who can attest to Hot Shot NOPest strips working wonderfully. No odor, no residue, 24-48 hours and everything crawling and flying is dead. The active ingredient breaks down to nothing after about a week or 2. The active ingredient does not accumulate in plants or animals. It is called Dichlorvos.

totally harmless and they only cost 6 bucks.

I use them all the time, No worries

As far as harvesting goes I am not sure if anyone answered you on that. IT is no different then any other plant on haverest. It is different however on what you do with the fan leaves. You need to dispose of them somewhere that the mites will not be able to escape from while the leaves die.

WARNING!! anybody read this on the hotshots pest strip?

not to be around food, pets...ect. um, i eat bud.

the mites will not leave the bud upon drying. most will die. i have smoked bud w/red specks all in it. It's all good.

w/webs. you have major infestation, but you can maintain them w/simple cold water and some drop cloths.

fredfarts is the perfect example of why to read WARNINGS.

I grew up spraying DDT. Asbestos, lead paint, and lead pellets were all w/o warnings.

what's your beef man?

OSHA suggests that dichlorvos is safe to work around at 1 mg per square meter of air, for a 10 hour day and a 40 hour work week

yep on the pest strip package it says dont stay in the room with it, so a closet or garage isnt somewhere you spend all your time.

yeah def do not be in the same room as the strip. for an 8x8 i would use 2 and throw them in when the light turns off, and shut everything down and seal it as best u can. if you find it works for ya cool. did nothing for me but people swear by them so why not. the chem in there is pretty nasty. those strips are outlawed in a few states for a reason.

i like the dynagrow 100% neem with safer soap. if it's real nasty maybe azatrol. azatrol is OMRI (sp?) which i think means it's fully organic. when i had them late in flower i just left them. i didn't have the heart to spray a full bud like that. i took some yarn and dipped it in neem. used it to hang my plants using a binder clip. those bastards will crawl up to the top and build a little home in the clip or hanger. when they try and take off they crawl on the string and die before they make it to the wall (or whatever is holding the yarn up) good luck man. hate the mites

Sorry loops I was really smashed last nite.

I use the pest strips from time to time, Sometimes they work sometime the little shits get immune to them. I guess what I was saying is that people worry about shit like this and then those same people go do really dangerous things like smoke tobaco or chew, drink and drive, or dive like a madman cause they are late for work or a movie. The point I was trying to make is unless you are living in a bubble and not eating any charbriled food something is going to get you.

We are all nuts and the squarils are after us!

So anyway sorry if I came off wrong, I hope you get my point.

Fred
