Shishka's Mite rid recipe

Shishka's Mite rid recipe

This was requested so...

1)Pick off any affected leaves. This makes it easier to track the progression of the bugs.

2)Fill up a tub with soapy water. Get it really frothy.

3)Scoop up a handful of froth and stroke up the plant like Arjan does to his plants in his videos. Just get the whole thing really soapy. You will smell the plants odor very strong during this step

4)Lean the container over the edge of the bucket and dip each of the branches in the soapy water. Agitate them under the water as fiercely as possible without causing damage. This step helps clean off any mite excretions of empty shells. It also just washes off some of the bugs.

5)Rinse your plant with fresh water from a sprayer.

6)Set the plant under lights or near a fan to dry off completely.

7)While it's drying get you mix 5 ml of rosemary oil and 2 ml of neem oil in a 700 ml sprayer. Add a drop of dish soap. Shake well.

8)Go back and spray all your plants, 1-2 at a time with this mix, making sure you rinse with water after each 1-2 plants.

The key to this method is consistency. Every 3 days the rosemary/ neem treatment will kill them off.

Check this red spider mite out i found in the garden. It was huge. It makes me paranoid about my potted plants on the patio getting mites!

Hello:
I´ve been fighting spider mites long ago... and still going... pufff (I live in warm conditions - parallel 28). I¨ve tried the shishkaboy recipe, good one, it seems it works, but you really have to be consistency (every 3-4 days).. and, well, the mites population decrese but not dissapear....
The question is one day I have no rosemary oil, so I put in the recipe tea tree oil at the same dosis (5 ml in 700 ml water.. and the neem oil 2 ml + soap)... and , guys, that´s stronger for the mites... incredible, but i think it´s the first ever (f...) time I stop them all. I´m not quite sure if they will dissapear, but the recipe is really promissing.
Thank you, everybody
Good luck

I totally forgot I even posted that.

It feels good to know it helped someone out. Mites are nothing to play around with.

As an update, I must say that although the rosemary beemer mixture did allow me to stay perpetual while fighting the mites. I had to resort to more extreme measures.

A few days with a nps took them all out tho.
Then I realized I had thrips too...

Sounds like you took the recipe and ran with it. Let us know how it works out and any other tweeks.

There is another version with clove extract, rosemary oil and dish soap for thrips control.

Has anyone had luck using a sulfur burner to get rid of the borg? My plants are only 1ft tall in veg so I'm going to alternate azamax and floramite for a couple weeks to get them cleaned up, but I'm more concerned with the room itself.... It is carpeted so I can't exactly wipe it down. Was thinking pyretheum bombs every few days for a couple weeks but a sulphur burner is more appealing to me because it has added benefits. Any input on the burner or on carpeted rooms would be greatly appreciated!

Which is worse...

Smoking dead spider mites & webs/poo OR smoking weed sprayed with Floramite or Pyrethrins or something nasty?

Discuss :)

i just put up a thread about fighting off winged RA an russet mites at the same time, using no nasty chemicals whatsoever…OG biowar, mega wash/mighty wash, an green clean, on a rotating schedule, one every three days, at double strength each…do that for a month an i don't know a soft-bodied insect that will survive, an it's safe thru the

*safe thru the day of harvest…no chance of tolerance build-up with the biowar an mega wash, maybe a little with the green clean, but not when rotated like that...

i never tried a sulfur burner, but i did use wettable sulfur an whatnot a while back when dealing with a particularly nasty infestation of spider mites…it worked okay, but never really got me full eradication to where i could go to a preventative regimen…i was always still in the fight i guess, if that makes any sense…

same i said above tho…double strength spray (2 tablespoons per gallon) of OG biowar foliar pack, then mega wash/mighty wash, then green clean at 2 oz per gallon…in that order, one every three days, for a month…after that u can go to half that strength an do them once a week, same rotation tho...no harmful residuals, safe to the day of harvest, no tolerance build-up, will kill the worst of them, i don't know much that combo won't work on, even out here in CO with the superbugs we have from all the new growers…

an no ughh sulfur taste or smell to deal with…booyah!!!

Psa off topic

The reason why the natural organic mite spray Gaurdian works so well is it has a (recently detected) secret ingredient. Avid. No shit, they just got busted by my favorite lab in Eugene Oregon. O G Analytical. The owner of the company even copped to it in a statement.

Thanks for posting this - was at local growstore and saw their writeup on it too - I am going to make a top-level thread not related to spidermite controls so that it is more visible.

I've been trying to get rid of these guys for a while now. I've been using neem and spinosad with some effectiveness. Sprayed everything with Green Cleaner today to try something new. It's supposed to kill eggs too, we'll see.
