7$ gal milk
8$ pack cigs
12$ 6 pack
25$ 4lb dog food
1OO$ for pair kmart shoes (you know the ones)

land is cheap, but to build a house there will break you.

red145 has posted nothing but the truth about alaska. i lived there a few yrs. i will visit, but only for a few days. gotta snag a king and eat some cheeks and long legs....man

Where were you.....anatuvik pass?

I pay 5$ for milk
6$ for marb reds
I could buy 5 pairs of shoes for 100$
Dogfood...i pay 20$ for 50 lbs
Gas is some of the cheapest in the nation...im payin 2.84 a gal at safeway.
8$ for a decent 6 pack of beer.

I just built a 800 sq ft addition on to an existing 1400 sq ft for less then 30K. I bought it for 86K.

You do the math.

Considering all the taxes you folks pay in your states...property, state, and fed...id say i live cheaper then 90% of you.

Shit holes? if you go to bethel, skagway, or dutch....yeah...but tell me one state that doesnt have a ghetto....and then compare that to how much land we have.

Moose eat in my yard....hell....they even fuck on my lawn.
I had a great grey owl...picking off voles in my yard this morning.

Summer time temps in the 70s and 80s with 22 hrs of light.
the aurura....

shit...the list goes on...

People here are tough....none like you will ever meet again...but yet some of the nicest in the world...and they will give you the shirt of their backs if you need it.

It pains me to here some of you...but this is why we like being so far away from you guys.

Many of you know not what you speak.

So many stereo-types.

amen bro!

i promote alaska quite a bit...to friends and family especially.

startin to think i need to bite my tongue a bit.

regardless of my decision in this thread regarding a job ...we have property in AK were paying on, and not telling anyone about...in 5 yrs or less itll be paid off and has cabin, generator, propane appliances, and is 10 miles off the parks hwy by snow machine or atv. (west of the parks and south/west of talkeetna...is all i can say)...on the water. clear creek

we'll play the game down here as long as we can stand it and vacation there...and have a place to bounce when ever.

i dunno....tho, i may take another trip down soon and see whats up....the job as I think i mentioned is a petro. plant operator, and can transfer to Alaska, so it might not be a bad deal.

i'd say go for it just based off that. and to all the people saying negative things about texas, sure some parts may not be all that great, but that's the same with any state... you just have to find the right spot for you

personally, i've got my heart set on northeast australia...

I have been lookin at land in the Yukon-Koyukuk area. For you folks that live up that way, how reliable do ya reckon windmills for power would be up there? Would they stand up to the frigid winter conditions? Some of the parcels have power access but some don't. Of course the more remote parcels that don't have power are more to my liking. :rasta: I can't wait to come up there and actually see some of the land. Thanks for any help.
