Here's a couple for you....

#1.) Until I am measured, I am not known. Yet how you miss me when I have passed. What am I?

#2.) You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What did you eat?

#3.) Give me food, and I will live; give me water, and I will die. What am I?

#4.) The man who invented it doesn't want it. The man who bought it doesn't need it. The man who needs it doesn't know it. What is it?

#5.) A certain crime is punishable if attempted but not punishable if committed. What is it?

#6.) I'm the part of the bird that's not in the sky. I can swim in the ocean and yet remain dry. What am I?

#7.) I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will,
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball.
What am I?

Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is

Some will use me, while others will not, some have remembered, while others have forgot. For profit or gain, I'm used expertly, I can't be picked off the ground or tossed into the sea. Only gained from patience and time, can you unravel my rhyme?

Here's a hint: the first letter is the same as the last letter.

My first one is tougher, but this one is easy...

No takers yet??

You are on the right track. I'm not sure if "straight" is ever considered a noun instead of an adjective or adverb, and if it's not a noun, it can't be made plural. Strait of gibraltar, etc. has no gh in the middle. So if "straight" can be a noun, then "straights" is a word that fits my description. If not, you still get half a star :)

I would guess "wisdom", or possibly "experience".
