Mobius, we dont wanna hear about that garbage... I think the mod just made that clear :bat:

This guy stayed awake by drinking tea, playing pool and keeping a diary

It is a bit different from staying awake continuously, but polyphasic sleep allows you to get by with only a few hours of sleep per day. You can read a journal about the only truly successful person I know of doing it at http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/polyphasic-sleep/. It is a trip, and I know I personally couldn't deal with the complete change it would require.

I have stayed awake for 6 days and on day 6 I was so sick and depressed I could not even stand up. My body hated me for that.

What's sleep?? Shit, with some degree of regularity (at least twice a year), without drugs (weed doesn't count right?) and sans chronic fatigue or other adverse side effects, I go for 5 days to a week without as much as a wink. However, I've never thought about doing it on purpose. Hmmmm ... Cleanses the mind you say?

I wonder how much more productive we'd all be with an extra 30-40 hours of free time a week

I already wish everything was open 24/7 :chin:

lol I wish there was a day we could not need sleep and function perfectly with no sleep at all or maybe like 1 hour sleep a day.

without sleeping so much we'd basicly double our life get twice as much done, make more money, go out more, have more fun etc.

maybe in the future they can somehow genetically engineer people so that they need less sleep to function properly or maybe even no sleep.

sleep is important because your body basicly repairs itself during sleep. Without sleep your general health is going to get worse and worse.

I once met a guy who had been a Navy Seal, and he had learnt to drop into REM anytine, anywhere, in about 4 seconds.

He slept in 15-20 minute blocks, every 4 hours....that's it, that's all.
