find your old strain !!
That would be a dream come true! I'd have to round up the info on it. It was made in 2000. Black domina! Then crossed with CA indica by a local guy I was lucky to meet! I got the last of the 9 year old beans and they didn't pop.

would like to hear pros beat a dead horse.

would like to hear pros beat a dead horse.

soil v hydro. from my understanding, from a fiscal standpoint hydro is the undisputed champ. however, if the topic is FLAVOR. not looks or yield or size of buds. if you were growing your last smoke ever...

i am going thru the paperwork to become a caretaker, 12 plants. and i am not going to sell a gooey node of it. what i am concerned with is making this person as happy as i can, because literally every smoke could be his last. would really like to hear an educated view on this, preferably someone that has done a side by side test, with a mastery of both mediums. flavor is my main concern, as user has been a pothead since nixon was in office. the effects of the smoke would be a second in line but dont want to complicate things:thank you:

soil can taste great, but properly flushed hydro can also taste great.

What you should worry about is what do YOU think you can handle growing with.

finicky hydro.. or soil? (Im not biased... i grow in coco, which is like in between soil and hydro :) )

and really research when and how to flush, when you should harvest , how to harvest and how to cure properly.

i do see amazing things coming out of the water. i just wonder what those same strains could do in ideal soil conditions. its also tough to gauge flavor from internet pics. ty:tiphat:

i was just talking to a friend about how bad growers sometimes come out with something that tastes like cardboard paste from hydro. not like its got nutes in it, but like its lacking something. i am confident in my ability. i also have a network of people who know better than me. good looking out. thank you for reply

agree. im not really even hung up on "organic" or anything like that, if i could get a good flavor out of weaponized plutonium and aborted baby seal skin i would use that. thank you for input.

my secret is out ! but i will never tell you where to get the seal skins, unless you stop boggarting the U235. brings new meaning to the term "killer pot".

guano is amazing. havent had the occasion to use myself, but have seen just stellar things, saw a friend use local harvested and processed at home guano, with the theory that local bugs and atmospheric conditions would jive with the local soil better.

Key word, "see".

Dude, the growth rate of hydro + mineral ferts are nice. The finished product can be nice as well, but never tastes great down to the ash or down to the roach. Properly grown organic buds are much more superior and medicinal due to the smoothness and cleanliness. I have grown enough hydro and soil buds to know that the soil was by far the best. And don't think that just because it is organic soil that it will look worse or not yield as heavy. That is a myth. I wish I could find the thread of some LVPK or lavender or that this dude was growing. The pictures of the soil garden were yielding huge!

If you want to play it safe and get great a growth rate and great finished product, use Humboldt Nutrients. You will get that great flavor, development, and smell. I just hooked my buddy up on a plan using the Master A+B and certain additives on a light feeding schedule with a long flush. He was using Roots Organic 707 and sunshine mix. All plants were amazing and his Pre98 Bubba Kush were yielding just under 3 ounces a plant of super top notch funk! His yield was respectable, 3 pounds off of 3 thousand watt lights, growing 3 different og hybrids and bubba kush. This guy is a total noob as well. He had a couple small outdoor harvests and 1 indoor harvest previously.

Completely subjective.

i agree up to point. what flavor a person prefers can differ. cant seem to figure out why hydro supporters are usually on this side of the debate, while soil growers are more confident in their methods ability to produce superior flavor. relevant post. thank you for input.

yey, this is exactly what i was looking for. my understanding is that there are complex nutrients and minerals in soil that can not be duplicated. hats off for the info bro:tiphat:

It's easier/quicker to obtain better tasting product with Organic soil.
Hydro is like an engine with too many moving parts to break down, but it is possible to dial-n-smile.

What exactly is your goal again?

Go with whichever method you're most comfortable with. There's no point in running hydro if you have little experience growing with that route, and vice versa with soil (although soil is inherently easier than hydro...)
