i thought check points are illegal constitutionally what state has checkpoints???

Calif has check points. Sobriety checks at night they have to be posted in the newspaper and you are warned that you are approaching a check point so you have the choice of going though them or not. People who take the escape road get checked my motorcycle cops anyway. :tiphat:

But back in the days of my (foolish) youth, often.

But back in the days of my (foolish) youth, often.

I just wanna try to get a handle on the statistics of how many smokers partake "on the road". I would assume the majority of pot busts occur in traffic situations, be it sobriety checkpoints or simple traffic violations where the cop smells weed.

Also, if you would, indicate in a post whether or not your locality sets up "sobriety checkpoints" or any checkpoint in which all vehicles are pulled over and forced to comply.

But that was before Nixon's "War of Drugs" kicked off. Then, it was anywhere and everywhere -- student protests, jams in the park, parties, and any excuse to fire one up. Different times ...

I don't smoke in my car anymore but I will blaze at a pro football game. I replace the tobacco with some good herb and will blaze next to the smokers as they all look around to find out where that smell is coming from. I try not to smoke in my car so it doesn't stink like weed or give off a big smell for the drug dog. thats just my take.

I must be outta my mind!!!!

I blaze everyday in my vehicle. I've also been driving without a license since I was 19, in my 30's now.

Obey the traffic laws and don't drive like a sausage! No hitting the piece at intersections and only blaze joints on the highway.
Those are my rules for vehicular safety!

And we wonder why we can't get taken seriously as a movement when this is our average pot smoker...

I burn a hooter every day on my way to school. I cant stink up the house that early and I sure as shit cant sit through a 2-3 hr class without a stone on.
I don't burn in the wifes rig or with the kids, just in my POS jeep and like posted earlier, I don't drive like a "sausage". 55-60 mph, seat belts, wait till im outta sight, etc...

DUI checkpoints are somewhat common here, but only at night and easy to avoid.

There is too much to risk if you smoke in your vehicle and I would rather not risk it. I don't even let others smoke while I am driving, even though I was told that isn't illegal here yet!

I haven't smoked in my vehicle in years. I have to much going on to take the chance of getting caught if someone hit me or caused an accident....

As for checkpoints, NY has them all over on holidays and on weekends looking for drunk/drugged drivers......

We live in the suburbs of a rural northern state and I smoke in my truck just about every day with the window cracked a bit. (Can't smoke in da wife's whip, though.)

Over the years, I've been pulled over a couple of times in speed traps on the edge of podunk towns while smoking. I put out the bowl and stashed it before cracking the passenger window a bit and then taking a bit of time to come to a complete stop. With a wind from the passenger side, I'll close that window before the cop walks up. If the wind blows into the driver's side window, I'll keep the passenger window open to keep the smell blowing in the proper direction. Never had a problem other than a speeding ticket, even under those circumstances.

I've been working in an inner-city neighborhood the past six years or so teaching english as a second language. The heat often park outside the library in the lot and its not uncommon for me to shoot the bull with a couple of officers before getting into my truck and blazing up as soon as I hit the street.....

As far as checkpoints, police use them for seatbelt checks, DWI checks, inspection checks, but drive careful, stay attentive and live your life the way you want, and yes I have been smoking while driving for 33 yrs now. I just try to be careful, usually one hitters with window open, no joints, too much smell to get out in a hurry if you have to

We smoke in the car, but no joints, and we don't smoke late at night, particularly on the weekends, or if we're carrying more than a few grams. We also are careful around holidays and won't burn at all. We always carry a pack of cigarettes and often burn those when we're done burning. We don't burn at intersections, stop lights, or in heavy traffic. We're careful not to burn when people are near the car. It's safer to maintain a bubble arund your car for safety purposes anyhow. And we don't speed, run red lights, roll stop lights, and we keep our insurance, inspections, lights, etc. all up to date and legit. And then I'm usually driving. I look like a librarian, I'm told.

I live in the middle of nowhere so my vehicle is like a giant loud music/smokechamber. 50 miles to the closest wal mart or mcdonalds. i keep a scary dog in my whip and let him stick his head out the window. cops don't even want to deal with the dog if i even see a cop, and ive been told the police dogs get easily distracted by the scent of another dog. It's safe for me to do my thing, others in shitty law states have more to worry about

I always smoke in my car but only when I'm able to be careful. i.e., not when I'm carrying extra bud or have anything else that's illegal.

Always have a pack of cheap tobacco in the car so if the cop "sees" you smoking a joint, you can say it was a hand-rolled cig.

Highways are very safe to smoke on.

I keep the AC/heater on exchanging air in the car with outside air, instead of recirculating the same air in the car. This or opening the windows helps with smell.

Water cured bud has barely any smell, and if you mix it with tobacco you can smoke in public with little to no risk, esp if you're carrying tobacco on you.

Never ever smoke when you have anything illegal in the car.

Absolutely NO paraphernalia you can't dispose of like pipes, bongs etc in the car. this is extremely important, at least in nyc where smoking in public is a misdemeanor and paraphernalia is also somewhat serious (plus they can use it to pop you for smoking in public if it "smells freshly used") and possession is a civil infraction. That's a BIG difference.

Eating weed is not as easy as you'd think, i.e., in case you're stopped and need to get rid of evidence. If you have sticky bud, it will be hard to swallow and your breath will reak.

Smoking while driving is quite common here where I live, or maybe I notice it more. When you start to do it and look around paranoid at the cars next to you, you begin to notice many other people doing it as well.

I've never seen a checkpoint here in ny. There are just too many cars and you'll almost always get stopped for a specific legitimate reason. Broken light, bad turns, etc.

librarians are hot. but how do you smoke if "no joints"? I can't imagine anything safer except a portable vape.

i love smoking in my car too....but never when theres more than my allowed 215 limits. so if i got a LB in my trunk....NO SMOKING and very strict rule on that. never mix smuggling with pleasure...

I think joints stink a lot more than pipes, that's why no joints. Of course, that means you have glass to get rid of, but the idea is not to reek if you get pulled over and naturally to do everything possible NOT to get pulled over . . . .

I think joints are safer, all the evidence is burned up and they don't stink you up if you have a clip. I store my papers, clip, Rohto, and lighter in the inside of a plastic wipes container...I leave a fake wipe sticking out the top to make it look legit. Oh and I actually use handiwipes to clean up a little after a toke session.
