Smart Meters To Nip Illegal Practice In The Bud

I though bchydro just took the north vancouver rcmp to court regarding their request for the power records for north vancouver. I know they won and did not give any info to the police. I have to assume that they are also protecting the rights of customers in other cities.

Anyone have any insight on this? If bchydro really withholding the records now?

So if the lights "only" came on at nite and were off before meter readers were active(like 7 pm to 7 am) what is the factor the would get measured? As you could have use of microwaves, heaters/AC etc programmed to come on when you get home. I am not understanding what these "new" meters are detecting, please enlighten me, lol. Seems like LEDs are the next on many shopping lists, lol.

Wow, it sure looks like they didn't want to cooperate with the RCMP.

My first thought after reading your post was to dismiss it as wishful thinking. I guess BC Hydro figured out how much money they are not going to get to collect if all the growers are shut down.

This is really one of the things I find most annoying about prohibitionists. They complain about growers stealing electricity and the fire hazard that can occur. Then they do this which only encourages growers to steal electricity more often. It's the same kind of nonsense with grows in the National Forests. They complain about people growing there and fucking up the environment then turn around and steal your property if you use your private land.

Our power company buddy says the power company really doesn't care. They just want money. They'd even upgrade your service to 400 amps and put a second panel in. More money, ya know? Now the electrician would want to know why you needed more power . . . .

Why good Sir, I am starting a pizza business and having 3 more electric ovens installed in my kitchen. Thanks for asking. Wish me luck!

Trust me, we're not in need of two panels, but we tried thinking of some good excuses. Wouldn't fly unless you have a large, well-equipped workshop such as a garage or shed that was already set up and waiting for a power upgrade.

Fast way to satisfy a nosy electrician is to have a nice shiny brochure for an electric kiln available. Plus you just "might" need his help setting it up when it arrives "next month". Significant other is the potter, so you can avoid technical questions about how pottery works, a little bit of ignorance is a powerful tool when used judiciously.

If the guy is that nosy, you are better off not needing any more of his help...

Stay safe.

When the meter reader comes onto your property to read the meter or snoop around, a hidden motion sensor or two can instantly trigger all the lights off and turn on a few fluorescents to keep the light cycle going. If you have an older disc meter, at least it won't be spinning excessively.
