Oh shit! It's that time of the week already? Why yes! Welcome, welcome! I have not forgotten about you, my fellow Cannagraphers. And I'm happy to oblige with a nice little comparison today
Here's the DestroyerxDurban F1.

And here is a Gorilla Glue descendant (first case of a plant being classified as a primate)
IMG_20231118_092104_edit_1765890341881584.jpg
Mostly i wanted to focus on these mid internode buds. As you can see there are marked differences between the more tropical leaning DD and the dry plains adaptations of a Kush descendant. First the obvious leaflet morphology and the thickness of the stem at "comparable levels of maturity" (we are now at 11/13 hours and lower soil and air humidity and temperatures at day 49). Then we notice the trichomes development being more pronounced on the latter of the two, also consistent with drier, mountainous, climates (and subsequently selected for by the industry, works for me, I don't have high humidity in my environment).
Now for what I really would like to focus on today: if we take a closer look, we will also notice that the DD (if you zoom in, and I do apologize for the lack of quality of the images) has "fuzzier" pistils than the Gorilla.

This is a public service announcement: I think this is kinda important. Using the app called Photone (uncalibrated) it seems my V-tac might be producing way more blue light than I thought. So the sellers specs were 3000k, however the app reads 5000k. However the app aces the lumen at 20000 lm at one meter (I was impressedbecause another app reads 18000lm). And apparently I have a DLI that goes from 40 to 15 in less than 1m^2. But right under the lamp I get 1100 umol/m2*s with 40dli over 11h still according to the app. For a thumbology gimmick these stats ain't bad. Just disappointed that my V-Tac might be scammy, and low key hoping the app needs proper calibration. But at the end of the day I don't really care, cause the plants keep growing and I'm too lazy to care to do anything about it until I get my new lighting appliances next week.
With this I bid you: Good night, and good luck.

Another comparison of DD and GG. DD (on the left) has a bigger fan leaf, shorter petiole and darker complexion (including the red petiole, compared to GG, which is green). These are both 6th internode fan leaves grown under the same conditions (same nutes, same temps, same humidity, same watering) the only difference being that the GG is right under the light while the DD is to the left of the GG. I don't know if it's visible, but the DD has a really nice double serration going on, which is not found anywhere on the GG. Thing about the double serration is that both the Destroyer mother and the Durban farther showed serration that wasn't consistent throughout the plant, but this F1 offspring has had all fan leaves with it. This cross really brought out all the traits I've been looking for in a tropical type, I'm highly recommending crossing Durban into Destroyer.

very interesting diary, especially in relation to carnivorous plants..... I have many of them (they are a memory of my mother  ) but I didn't know they were carnivorous.... I will immediately make room for them in my tent👍
many thanks My friend!!

Hi peeps,
After long and thoughtful consideration, that has lasted a good 13 years, I have come to the conclusion that the time has come for me to start a grow diary.

This run I have procured myself
(over the years as I am broke AF due to disability):

a mylar tent 90cm x 90cm x 180cm
(present from a friend, had it a few years now)

a marsh idro 150W LED meant to cover 1mx1m
(admittedly I have been starving myself to make enough money to afford this one)

a 100W UFO LED
(yup, them old cans still works after 10 years)

a 9pot blumat system
(got that off a farmer that was moving to hydro, not my friend)

a 200L bag of the finest grass soil
(a week worth of food)

Perlite
(friend)

Vermiculite
(also friend)

Diatomecious earth
(no beer for 2 weeks)

GHE nutrients, the usual 3 cans of N+micronutes, full spectrum, and P+K buffer
(friend)

almost forgot:

Bathroom vent and fan to move the air (the house I live in)

20 random seeds from my bag of "seeds I find around the house after seed runs" and the genetics vary wildly from Dutch skunks, Landraces, Heirloom and crosses I myself have made of these over the years.
(priceless)

so yeah, after years of growing with the cheapest (often dangerous) solutions and conditions that would make you want to tear your hair from your scalp just thinking about it, I decided to try and do things better, this time around, and pamper myself, and my plants, and let the selection over the years express itself in its full glory.
(or not, as this is a quality control run tbh)

I started with 20 seeds between wet toilet paper sheets, I ended up with 15 seeds popping.
I will let these grow straight into 12/12 without vegetative phase, this is both meant to test the reaction of the plants to photoperiod as I have some autoflower mixes in there and to keep the more wild NLD from growing too tall. I will further select for vigour and rate of growth....kinda sad now that this is a flower run...oh well.

This is what it looks like a week in (the white stuff is diatomecious earth that I mix with water and spray over the young ones so that thrips, nematodes or any other little fucker don't eat my babies as I do not sterilize the soil.
(I am a proud Live Soil proponent when it comes to growing weed for quality and not quantity, the flavour and medicinal power just aint the same when grown hydro, but that is just my own very not humble opinion)

and now, without further ado, here are the babies

I'm also growing some bamboo I was gifted by a friend and a tobacco plant (the tobacco keeps thrips and fungus gnats from taking over the tent, works better than fly paper) and yes, there is a San Pedro in the back (it's actually healthy, dunno why it looks brown), I apologize for the sepia color but I was using the old samsung COB and that has 2000K light I use for blooming and the camera for some reason made it look gloomy as hell.

Here's a better one under the Marsh I draw

I hope to find at least 6 strong females to make me some bud ^^^

I will be posting every week with updates.
Hiya dear friend!
Love what you are doing!!! Very inspiring!!! Keep on doing it and keep exciting our grey matter
By the way are you going organic or chem?

Cool yes yes yes!! Orgachem i like that a lot… so are you giving lentil tea, LAB, aloe, milk and mycrohizae in the seedling stage?
I start off with rich soil for grass and mix with vermiculite and perlite. That's my starting mix. The seedling stage gets little to none as I want it to develop roots well. Nothing has them developing roots like starvation and blue light. Kidding, they get nutes from the second week. I make tea with the plants from my previous grows. So it's always balanced. I also use compost, also made from stems from the plants and food refuse that gives a balanced nutrient profile because I'm basically feeding weed to weed with extras on top. I also practice no till if I have an established pot, so the mycorrizhae are in the undisturbed soil, which I mostly recycle with roots and all so the nematodes get food. Other nutes I've already named, GHE, I use nicotine and Pyrethrum EDIT: and diatomecious earth as pest control.

Right on!!! Thank you for taking the time to explain
I know for root promotion lentil tea, aloe tea, and milk tea give great results for me
Pest control I use nicotine as well, wish I could get my hands on neem oil
Looking forward to seeing your new projects

Lentil tea does promote mycorrizhae, but I've never tried aloe, which I'd imagine helps against dry soil. Milk I've only used once in my first grow because my soil got too acidic due to too much N, great for buffering pH and since it had added calcium in sure the plants didn't mind.

I was wondering if you could tell me anything about Iranian hash cultivars BTW.
