I took a rare visit to the supermarket today, my sister had hired a car ( used to walk there all the time but… back troubles … etc stopped that…)
I was genuinely surprised at how many Easter eggs were on the shelves.
It’s February for feck sake… Easter isn’t until end of April this year.
Can’t we have at least a small break from the commercial festival machine?

Don’t eat too much chocolate they say.

no, apparently not. hell, it was Christmas from September until Dec. 25th, Thanksgiving from October until Turkey Day. :dunno: Valentines Day is postponed here until the weekend after. no way to get a seat at a decent place to eat until then. just a matter of time until Groundhog Day goes commercial, with chocolate groundhogs like the Easter Bunny has now...

I know how you feel. I went to the supermarket last week and spotted easter eggs and choc bunnies and stuff too. I was thinking the same thing. It´s totally insane. It´s not about special holidays but simply all about 💰🤑 👿 and it p*sses me off more and more . Our politicians should create a law or something.
Also, those treats become far less special and enjoyable somehow imo

be dang careful what you wish for ! "that government governs best, which governs least" . i want a law (;) ) that requires politicians to repeal TWO laws for each new one they foist off on us. and WE get to pick which two get the ax, not our "leaders"...

I have just been awarded with disability payments, which is an amazing help… when we used to get low on funds I’d work my ass off on extra jobs for whoever was paying but years of manual labour have left me in constant pain so that’s out the window.

Pressure has been relieved financially somewhat- especially with the price of groceries and energy these days.

My plants have gotten a little confused by the cold weather… started to go purple as it was unusually cold but now it’s got really mild so I’ve got a few crispy leaves 🤦🏻‍♂️
Not long until harvest time 👍

Heads up, seeds mafia have a competition going with free seeds to enter, and real gorilla seeds have an outdoor competition too again with free seeds to enter :tiphat:

It’s been lovely and sunny here for the past week- refreshing change after a few months of cloud and rain ☔️- the garden is finally getting a chance to dry out.
Mrs b wants to do the first cut of the year for the lawn today, I’m taking the opportunity to sit in the garden and enjoy a joint while it’s quiet

You are much earlier than we are . . . but spring is coming. Nice and sunny here as well and the snow is receding. I can see my menagerie of garden creatures again.

No snow for us this year… probably for the best but mrs b loves the snow ⛄

I took advantage of the dull weather last week (before the sunshine) and searched for a new pool for the summer… if the weather is bad prices are generally better, and I found one for half price 👍

Much better and more stable than the old one, steel framed 10ft across with pump/filter included… £80 down from £165

So . . . when are you going to invite us all over for a pool party? I can bring the hot wings . . . :rasta:
It won’t be warm enough to set up the pool until probably late may here … and I’m trying hard to remember what the food picture you posted previously was as i know it looked delicious 🤤

First official day of spring today, we’re just past 12/12 outdoors now here - the rose bushes are sprouting out and the trees look close to bursting open, think it’s the cherry tree that comes out first (April ish)

Clocks go forward next Sunday which is also UK Mother’s Day, got mrs b a few bits from little miss b so she should be happy 👍

Sun is setting in a beautiful blue sky… hour later now as the clocks changed last night here.
Summer is coming.
Been a nice few days of sunshine and it looks set to continue for a couple of weeks- mrs b got a mow of the lawn done and repotted the little rose cutting I rooted over winter.
Not doing a veg garden this year, due to my back issues so mrs b is going to fill the patch with flowers for a change.

Mother’s Day here in uk today - we tried to stop mrs b doing too much but she doesn’t much like staying still so mixed results 🤣

I’m slowly smoking the last bit of this joint outside with a coffee, hope everyone is having a pleasant evening :tiphat:

hey, that´s too bad about your back :( But do you really want to miss the opportunity to grow some free veggies? Can´t your wife and your little girl get involved, I mean make it a family project of some kind. :p It´s a really great learning experience for kids. They even offer gardening therapy for people with autism, so there must be something to it, right: :)
I also found this article which may be of interest.

We’ve had a patch every year since we moved in, used to have chickens until a neighbour complained ☹️ (there may even be a pic of them on this thread somewhere … chickens not neighbours 🤣) but it is time for a rest this year- little lady is changing schools in the summer and she’s been at the current one for 7 years so it’s a big step.

We Need to give her as much time and help as possible

Little miss b used to help me and play in the dirt, but it’s quite hard to get her down the garden in summer… her social anxiety overwhelms her and makes her uncomfortable because neighbours may see her.

Thanks for the link :tiphat:

yes, thanks Cuddles! my oldest is an Aspie, and he loved the greenhouse work while in HS. got a job working in a commercial one after school, but lost it by leaving early instead of asking if there was anything else to do. he misses that one... going to try to get him back into something like that.

Got the sunset and moon in the same view tonight- reminds me of many years ago high on acid, summertime early hours of the morning.

We realised half the sky was dark with a moon and the other half was getting light, with almost a dividing line in the middle.
You could turn and face one way and it was night, then flip around and it was daytime.
Very profound feeling when you are peaking on strawberries 🍓 🤣
