a dentist who wants so much money is no good anyway, just a crook.
Other doctors refuse to help too? God, the NHS is in a worse state than I keep hearing . Shocking :(
Yep… seems to be whatever they can get away with these days… they’re allowed to charge the NHS and charge you as well.
GPs confuse me. They won’t help with your mouth or eyes.
And pretty much everything else they just refer you to a list.

Luckily for me they recently allowed pharmacists to prescribe antibiotics for a few selected conditions without a gp appointment… I just researched the symptoms of a sinus infection and told them I had that, which got me the much needed antibiotics.
Shame I had to lie to get them, but all’s fair in love and war.

Glimmer of hope today, one of the many dentists I emailed messaged me back with the possibility of getting on their books, I have to call in the morning. 🤞
Most don’t want to know as I’m an unpaid carer so entitled to free dental care 🤦🏻‍♂️

As always dependant on which postcode you live in sadly,,,,

if you can, try getting hold of some serrapeptase for your dental problem and probiotics for your belly as antibiotics ruin the gut flora :)

I didn´t know about the free dental care for someone who´s a carer. Sounds good, at least on paper ... did the first dentis know this?
Doctors over here aren´t that much better, there´s just a bit more of them

this postcode thing has always confused me and I had actually thought they had gotten rid of it by now. I just don´t get it at all. Who makes such a decision anyway? Is it individual doctors?
The only reason I can think of is that if a patient lives in an expensive area, then they are more likely to be able to pay for stuff. Which btw, is not always true, lol
Either way it makes zero sense and contradicts what the NHS stands for and why it was created in the first place imo.
The NHS is unique and the british are right to be very proud of it. But it should be managed and funded better. Perhaps things will improve under the new government :)

Sound good… but it only applies if you’re an unpaid carer- basically you receive welfare benefits in return for at least a 35 hour week ( in reality it’s on duty 24/7)
A lot of the dentists want to make sure they can sign you up for a few thousand pounds worth of work for things the NHS won’t fund.

We all pay a tax called national insurance all of our working lives, on every penny we earn which is supposed to be for the NHS, but rather than investing the powers that be would prefer to contract services out to the private sector… coincidentally a sector that makes their friends rich.
Who’d have thought.

yeah, many are like that over here too plus most of them are rubbish at their job. Here they want to work less and less, pick and choose their patients, what medical problems (prefarably none ) they have and determine how often (preferable hardly at all) they go to see them. At the same time, they reckon they should get paid more.
I sometimes think they get taught more about insurance stuff and making extra money than about actual medicine...

on the bright side, these ´friends´ are generous party donors, right?
Is it even legal for the government to not pass the money onto the NHS?

is there a list? Or ist it hit or miss -as in you move to a new place and then find out whether or not you can see a doctor? It wasn´t always like this, or was it?

No list Cuddles and no accountability,,,
We all know this is the case,,,
Very little chance of a dentist in Lincolnshire but spoilt for choice in our part of North London ,,,,
call the cops for a burglary in somewhere like Hartlepool and you be lucky if the police attend,,,
same call in North London or Central London then expect 3-4 cars and a van,,,,,

Got a dentist 🥳🥳
Spoke to someone this morning and they got me in for Wednesday… check up to start… I know I’ll need an extraction but they won’t do that first time I shouldn’t think.
I am relieved to say the least
Went for my appointment… they pulled out 2 teeth with no messing around.
More antibiotics as the infection is still lingering and It’s pretty damn painful tonight but I’m glad that’s out the way.
Also did some impressions for dentures 😱as I don’t have a lot of teeth left

Onwards and upwards

no, they try to hold out for a second office visit fee at a minimum. "if" you are in agony, they might pull it first visit, and schedule you for a follow-up ...
They pulled 2 out … got a follow up in a couple of weeks. Also had infection remaining so I’m on antibiotics again
Mouth has been not too bad considering, but can’t shift the headache today

did they warn you about smoking anything? that's standard here. supposedly, the suction of hitting a joint/bowl puts pressure on the exposed places where extractions came from, slowing healing and increasing risks of further infections. "this calls for...NOSE HITS!" :groupwave:

They did - although it was a slightly less harsh sounding warning than I’ve had in the past.
Usually it’s : do not smoke in all caps, but this time it said : if you smoke , try to leave it as long as possible before smoking, and try to limit the number you have for a day or so.
People are much more likely to respond better to that approach I think 🤔

perhaps you can try to put something into those gaps whilst smoking, some tissue of some kind maybe.? This way the smoke won´t do as much harm :)

The sun is shining for a change 👍 still cold for the next few days but it’s looking up.
Mrs B and sister B have taken little miss B swimming, leaving me to cook a roast dinner which is getting harder to pull off with my back.
Had to get them to take the meat out of the oven for me, while I do all non bending related stuff. 😂
