i realize that Thanksgiving isn't an official holiday there, mr. brunch, but i wanted to wish you and yours a safe and happy one just in case. i mean, who doesn't need/want another excuse to eat well in the company of friends and family ?

Thanks 🙏 mate… always good to have another reason to celebrate 🙌
As it happens my sister is back from working in Italy this weekend so I’m cooking a welcome home roast dinner… good practice for Xmas day too
Hope you have a good day and happy thanksgiving to you and all of the American members and their families :tiphat:

Edit: the Xmas decorations are already up - seems early this year 😂

It’s blowing a gale out here tonight… 50-60mph winds with some rain for good measure.
Just finished weighing up and went outside to throw the stems in the compost pile which was a bad idea it seems as my hip decided to spasm with pain and I went down hard.
Smacked my head on the edge of the compost bin and grazed my ankle pretty good… managed to avoid the mud but landed on a pallet on my wrist.
Only saving grace was it’s dark and there’s no one around to see 🤕

i slipped on ice in my driveway a year or two back. my head was the first thing that hit, and i laid there in full view of neighbors houses/street until i came to. either no one saw me, or nobody gave a damn... :dunno:
I’m glad you weren’t badly injured… although being knocked out is bad enough I guess.
The adrenaline kept the pains at bay last night but it’s a different story today… lots of hurt in the hips and back.
Glad I have some smoke to ease the muscle spasms a bit. 👍

Christ Mr B you've been through the wars by the sounds of it, speedy recovery 🙏
Some gorilla haze hopefully helps with the soothing process..

Storm Darragh has also caused total mahem in Ireland, ive had no power the past 24hrs, they recon 2 or 3 days as all the lines are down. Hitting shit creak as the generators are not doing what they are meant to be doing and the headbangers are sitting at 9c with candle light, generator doesn't even put out enough power for extraction...

One must follow his path..

Maybe invest in a better generator...

I think we’re getting off lightly here, 55mph tops and no loss of power.

If our ship ever comes in so to speak, mrs b and I often speak about moving to Ireland… land of my great grandfather (who I’m named after incidentally) but it’s probably not likely… I’ve only ever been to Dublin personally :tiphat:

I know what you mean. I experienced something similar stuff but people did see me and this was in A+E at the hospital. Even though I was brought in by ambulance with an accute, almost burst appendix. They just totally ignored me.

I saw on the news that about 400 places in england had storm warnings but I didn´t realize that Ireland was affected as well. I hope you stay safe and get some power on again soon! I honestly wouldn´t know what to do without , I got no gas and OMG no tea without my kettle? aaargh

Hi cuddles,
Thanks for asking ;
Power was restored shortly after 6 thank ferk, tops of the plants have a lime colour (new growth) that shot up during the extended dark period, they should be fine. I would probably be more concerned if the outage had of occurred during the vegitive period, hopefully the stress period didn't bother them to much.

Ireland was lashed out of it there was a red weather warning in place over a 48hr period, over 300.000 homes and businesses had no power for different periods of time... Wind speeds of 148 kph were recorded in Dublin, the local village beside me had wheelie bins thrown all over the place yesterday after the storm, quite a unusual sighting lol

Gas is great for back up, and ya can't beat tea of a naked flame...

i guess i'm the only one that likes their mother in law?

shit, i think i prefer her to my own mom haha

(please don't tell my mom  )
i loved my MIL, salt of the earth southwest Virginia country girl that moved to the "big city" to help with the war effort. best cook (sorry, mom) and best sense of humor i ever saw in a woman. when my wife and i would get in fights the first few years, she'd go home to complain to her mother only to be told "you don't know how good you've got it. you'd better take your ass back home to him..." she passed away at age 90+ several years back, not a day passes that i don't think about her...
