i just hate mosquitoes, ticks, and sweating, not in that order...

I hate them all too. In our cottage country, the black flies hit in May. Just as their unbearable onslaught is finishing, it is getting warmer and the mosquitos arrive. Forget dusk and dawn or any activity in the woods unless you are covered with a bug spray that melts plastic. Then there are deer flies which are active on hot days away from water. They burrow in your hair. And you think that you can escape when you swim? Hahaha. As soon as you sit on the dock dripping wet a farking horse fly lands and bites a chunk - and I mean a chunk - out of your hide. For some reason, the only ticks that ever bit me were in the wilds of Africa and I got African tick bite fever . . . but that is another story . . .

But @armedoldhippy I get where you are coming from. I had a long time customer in Nashville that originally came from northern Michigan and he dearly longed to go back. He told me that Nashville was great – except for the 8 months of the year that were humid and more often than not, hot as well. It was the constant unrelenting humidity that he wanted to escape from.

Got it finished off this morning, now I’m tempted to put a couple of autos out 🤔

Since we moved in here (around 12 years ago) we have had swifts nesting in our roof. A couple of years back we found two small birds, alive but stuck together by egg goo so I put warm water on them, they separated and flew off.
This morning mrs b found two more, seemingly stuck together again, but they looked bigger

As they are an endangered species there are national swift carers, and one of the members are close by so I called them- they’re coming to pick them up in a few hours - they said they’re adults fighting over a nest, and they can fight to the death ☠️
Hoping they’ll be ok, they seem to have ticks on them
We are lucky to have swifts. Only for a few sweet months a year. having them dive bombing past your house like the red arrows when the sun is setting is one of the most joyful experiences on earth.

They come in very low in the late evenings, we’ve got 3 nests along the back of the house and there’s a group of 20 or so that sweep past while the chicks are screeching 🤣

Heavy rain and winds today - mid June and we haven’t had a hot day yet which is most unusual in recent years as we’ve kind of gotten used to hot may & june at least… not happened this year and the forecast is looking not much different.

I think if I had any outside girls this year I wouldn’t be impressed

The fence looks great. :headbange

We are supposed to have our first heat wave of the year this week with lots of sun. And so far we have avoided a June drought like we have had the last 2 -3 years. But alas no outdoor here. No indoor either at the moment but I got the itch.

Think I’m going to hold off on the outdoor ones this year, got a few packs of autos in the fridge but they can wait…
Got some auto versions of amnesia, pink runtz , dosidos, mac and crack and possibly a couple more so it’s tempting

There are some nice tasty treats there. ;)

I just jarred 6 1/2 oz of Mack and Crack (fem) and I have a m&c plant in the freezer for ice water hash whenever I can make enough cubes. Freezer space is often a battle. Can you imagine? I have to compete with food.

swifts are way cool. place I float tube at has them in the cliffs, they come out to play when the wind is up and often do fly-bys....like little fighter jets they are...
