silica blast with every watering.....

HOLY FUCKIN SHIT!!! im a guna have ta read the livin shit outa that whole thing like a hundred times there, guineapig! i shoulda graduated the third grade. lol thanks fer the link, i just read the article on ph. guna do nuthin but read tonite so thanx guineapig. i can now sleep well fer a bit! i know the little girlz r doin better cuz their smell is cumin bak! their stinky little ones they are!

ppm still too high....new guy

ppm still too high....new guy

ok,here we go....i have only been giving the girls ro water that has a ph of 6.5 without any adjustments(cept fer when i did the calmax thing) now the reason im doing this is i measured the ppm of the runoff of 7 plants and each one was way different. they go from 640-1300. im sure all plants eat and grow differently but i allways feed them the same as i mix 5 gal at a time and use it. and the highest ppm i have fed them, till the last one when i started to have this prob, was 600. the one i fucked up was at 900.now as it seems they are not using the nutes in the soil, the lock out ive been having along with silica lock out from too much silicablast too often. does it make sense that the ppm of the runoff should start to come down befor i feed? :wallbash:

Sheesh Skeeterpeeps...
After reading that post, you got me hitting my head against a wall!

I don't really believe that measuring runoff is all that accurate. How are you getting runoff before you feed? I guess I'm just not following...
ET

ET, i have only fed them one time since i had this lockout problem that you have been helping me with. i have just been watering them with str8 ro water. lastnight i thought if i measured the ppm of the run off i might get a good idea whether the plants are taking up the nutes that were over loaded in the soil so i checked and the ppm on most all of them was quite higher than what had been put in. it seems that the soil stil has a lot more nutes in it than it should. and the ones that are in veg are still getting worse. theyre the ones i trimmed and lastnight i saw more leaves with the yellow and spots of crispy brown. it is also at the top of the plants now and not just the bottom. looks like im guna loose those in veg if i cant stop whats happenin. the ones in flower are having high ppm in the run off but dont look as bad. i dont wanna feed them bloom nutes for fear of loading up the soil with too much nutes so when i get the ph str8 it wont burn the plants. any of this make sense? im so confused as to what to do! the ones in veg still look like the manganese def in stiches guide to sic plants and ph problems. can ya see where im at? maybe i should be looking at something else? hmmmm. wudda ya think there ET?

I guess I'd say that if there's still such an excess of nutrients in the soil...further flushing is needed.

The thing that gets many people in trouble is that soil already has most of what the plant needs. It just seems that they've been overfed and fairly consistently. It's a common new grower mistake.

Hey Skeeterpeep,
I'm more a hydro guy but isn't silica more of a hydro additive? I mean...doesn't soil already contain silica?

I'd certainly think you could leave out the silica and see if that helps.

I'm a hydro guy and love the Blast. The words you read above IMO are gold. Give it a try and see. Hard to believe what the stuff does isn't it? I run the entire line PBP,Silica Blast,Cal-Mag,Liquid Karma and Hydroplex. With the consistent results I have had over the past years I would not even think about trying to fix something that isn't broke.

Yes that is the maximum yield article.....:woohoo:

That article should be a sticky imho.....if we follow the recommendations of that article in the future, hopefully all results will be improved....

:ying: kind regards from guineapig :ying:

Post it up in the Organic Hydro section GP and I'll sticky it.

If you guys knew how I grew mine you would laugh your ass off. A little of this a little of that and blamo 60 day buds lol.

ET, should i flush with str8 ro water? and when should i next feed then? 3 gal pots ,flush with six gal water, rite?

Skeeterpeeps...
It's sometimes hard on plants to use plain water. If you have a little epsom salts...maybe use 1/2 tsp/gal and flush them thoroughly. Yes that volume sounds good.

Don't feed until they look like they need feeding.
ET

ok then off i go to buy epsom salts and a fuckin truck full of water!! yeeha....no guts no glory! thanks fer the help guys and to you ET fer hangin in there with me during all of this mad shit! i hope i aint too late to save them.

ok guys, heres my update........it turns out i may have multiple problems steming from me bein a newbie! i have over watered, over fed and just plain over did the whole thing! i have flushed the plants and still have a high ppm in the run off. as the ph in the soil is starting to adjust to a good reading it is starting to take up the nutes already in the soil. i will keep watering with ph correct water for a while longer and when ppms of run off are at about 350 i will feed.the clones i put into the sunshine 4 mix dont look too well as they are wilting and yellowing. i fed them a little so we'll see what happens with them. in the mean time i will start more clones and as they root i will be making a soil outa sunshine 4 and sterile potting soil from scotts. this time i keep it simple. r o water mixed with enough tap water to bring it to 200 ppm. this dirt will be used for one clone. i will then put another rooted clone in a mix of potting soil, peat, vermucilite with dolimite lime. a third in just potting soil and a fourth in just sunshine 4. i will log all things i do and the results of those things in order to see what works best for me. if anyone of you would like to add any sugestions they would be most welcome! ET, i will be using that watering/feed schedual you suggested on one of the clones and on the ones i have in flower right now(as soon as the ppms are down and i start to feed) i have heard of it before and my sons no.1 boy says thats how he waters and his shit looks great and the smoke is off the hook! thanks to all you guys who have hung in there with me on this.

Yo Skeeterpeeps...
Don't feel bad. Over-tending is a common noob mistake.

But you've learned and if you keep at it, you'll get there.

I grew for years before I really knew how to bring a plant to harvest...always got impatient and harvested early. But that was back in the days before internet and before good ganja books and stuff. First grow was in the early 70s. Dirt, water and a few shop lights. lol And we smoked everything...not just the buds.
Hang in there..
ET

thanx ET,u been a godsend! i just took all the clones that have been in the old sunshine 4 and put them in a new soil mixture i made up. but before i put them in the new dirt i was real careful and got all the old dirt off of the roots by washing them in ph correct water very gently and then i put them to bed. my question is this...should i now water them in the new dirt or should i wait a day so the roots can dry a little? this was a last ditch effort as they were getting yellow and dieing fast. there is something wrong with the sunshine 4 i have been usijng. i know I fucked it up.

today is day 37 into flowering and the girls r still alive thanx to all of you who have coached me. i have pics but they are of bitmap format and i cant upload, need help. my question is.......i am seeing tricomes on the little leaves and hair all over the buds but nuthing that looks like silver dust. is that not good? did the ph and other newbie problems i inflicted on these poor maidens somehow comprimise the potency of the weed? they are supposed to flower for 70 days i havent been feeding much cuz of ph levels but they are coming back into the right numbers all cept for one that is stuck at 5.5 and yet she looks ok. they seem a little light in color though and i wonder if i should feed some. the soil is still moist and i watered them on the 19th. they dont seem to be getting much taller either. do they stop stretchin at a certain point in flowering?the buds are nice and firm but am told not to finger hug 'em anymore.so i dont.and sugestions?
