I don't understand the "money ruins everything" rant.
Isn't money what's enabled you to sleep with a roof over your head? With the AC on when it's hot? To power the fridge that keeps your meat bacteria-free?
Isn't money what's allowed you to pursue an education, to make ceramics, to buy the music that's inspired you in whatever way? Do you think your professors would work for free? You think they care to teach you ceramics from the absolute goodness of their heart, or are they trading the lesson in exchange for the same thing that lets you keep a roof over your head and your own meat bacteria-free?
Do you think the artists who make the music that you love would make it for free? If nobody was listening or paying? And if so, aren't you just part of the machine for [literally] buying in and paying for their music? Do you expect the artist to work for free? Should the producer work for free? Aren't they entitled to a roof over their head?
Think about every single thing in this world that you enjoy or makes your life easier -- is the person/people that make that a reality for you not entitled to the currency that enables us to enjoy life & consume things (like heat and running water)?
When you have more flowers than you need - do you give them away, or do you trade them for money? If you trade them for money, have you been ruined?
Sorry bro. I just think the statement & sentiment is entirely misguided.
Have people done crazy shit for money? Yes. Do they still today? Yes. Is it right? No.
Have people done crazy shit for free too? Yes. Do they still do crazy shit for free? Yes.
Are most people reckless in their pursuit of money? No.
Have a lot of great things come about as a result of money as a motivating factor? Yes. Is that inherently evil? No.
The entire rap comes off as young and inexperienced and, to be honest, extremely fortunate. Go find a guy on the street with no place to stay for the night, ask him if he thinks money is evil. Or ask him if he'd love to have $50 to sleep in a warm hotel for the night.
Seems to me that most of the people who would agree that "Money ruins everything" are those without much.
For every person with that attitude, there are two more struggling, but without the attitude. Those are the ones who make it happen for the rest of us, every day.
Edit: Nice plants though!
