I am confused on some of your methods.
To each their own.
Don't make it so complicated IMO.
Write a schedule/recipe to follow and use it. No guess work. If something's not up to snuff, note it, contemplate, seek advise, and make changes next run or the next week. Baby steps.
Always use proper ph in coco. Even babies clones etc.
man when I cloned in coco I used tiny mouthwash plastic cups slits on bottom edge like I do my solo cups, packed coco in fairly tight. Made a central hole with a skewer and pushed cut in. Heat pad under a tray and keep wet. I just water the tray and wick like the homie mentioned up in the post earlier.. Don't leave in standing water just keep wet and warm. Boom. I now use Rockwool so easy but liked the coco also. Just more work prepping. Same results. Keep wet don't drown
If u want I can tell you how I would approach learning coco, and mixing a res for a week at a time. Easy.
As far as ph drift goes. It usually naturally rises over time, so set to your low point and let it rise.
Eg I set at 5.7 on mon and fri night it's 5.9.
Any way if u want advise I'm around.

Lots of girls at 50% cloudy trichs.

Clones are all looking stellar :good:

That BATF F2 #1 is some rock hard bomb nug. I'm serious people - you keep hearing me rant about that plant just wait for the pictures.

I found a 55gallon drum that is NOT BPA FREE for 60$ + shipping... but thats better than the 150$ I spent on my bpa free 30 gallon drum.... that has a closed top... so its not a res.

Do you guys think BPA Free plastic is mandatory for a plant reservoir?

If not - count on this mofo becoming auto mated within the year.

been looking into the PH Drift and im glad it takes place on its own in the medium and fast enough with hydro that I can continue my feeding practices but should change the solution.

5.5 Ph looking kinda sweet to me right now.

5.5 ph, you say? Hmmm... I know Im about as newb as newb can be with the coco, but I would think that theres a buildup of sorts in the medium. The buildup would make the coco ph at a higher number than the neutral/near-neutral ph it naturally has.

Maybe Im wrong, but if your plants are happy at 5.5 then I would guess that the medium is currently ph'ing around 7.5 - maybe a little lower, but not much.

Im feeding at 6.1 right now, because that's what it comes out at. And trying to lower it 0.1 is a pain in the ass. I figure if I go back and forth with down and up to get it just right, Ill end up raising my ppms too high. And I don't have a way to measure that - yet.

That's the 2 cents I found at the bottom of the pool after winter ended.

dope - thanks smokey

never been to costco and can't find it on the site.

I need to put together a new program and share it

One addition to it is a day without chems. Straight up Ph'd Water with Hygrozyme.

The pH in the medium goes up as the plant absorbs nutrients. Can't repeat the whole science but it also goes up as fast as nutrients are absorbed. My big plants can be watered 3 times a night. I was thinking I could give them more?

With my R/O water and just 6/9 I get 5.4ph at full strength.

I never fed with a pH not adjusted to 5.8.

I was actually sitting here thinking about what I was going to ph the feed to in the morning for my girls , ive been giving them 6.-7. for about a month im thinking a single feed of 6.5 should do them some good ...the GO ive been feeding had humic acids in it so thatll help absorb nutes if the pH gets undesireable for them , maybe ill test on one plant first and see results

Ok, I thought you were saying 5.5 no adjusting.

So fully wetted coco should be a little lower than 6.5? I don't know, so Im asking.

Then what? 6.4?

Neutral coco at 7.0
Mixed nutes at 5.8
Averaging ..... 6.4

Ill probably only need 1/4 ml down to hit 5.8.

HEres the thing - Even tho the coco substrate has its own PH thing going. its the water in the medium that is more important ph wise.

You gotta start with quality coco brother. And then you can rinse it and after "charge" it.

Usually water the coco first with new nutes to buffer it and make it more friendly for the plant.

Coco is hydro - and usually in hydro you are monitoring the nutrient solution far more than the medium - Since coco seems like soil but really isn't I can see how its confusing.

I wouldn't worry about the run off. I'd worry about what you are giving the girls. Less is more overall with coco from my experience.

Its going ot take fine tuning - trial and error - and just experience through time.

What I would look for in your coco more is the type of fibers in it and then salt build up.

Also play with the top layer and ensure hte roots are growing up and into all that there is.

All my best girls only have perilite floating on top and are using every grain of coco they can get their roots on.

I rinsed, but should have done it twice. They hiccupped, but now I can practically see them growing.

I haven't poked around the pots, but it only took a few days for roots to start snaking out the bottom everywhere.

Im feeding at 6.1 making the freshly fed coco read somewhere around 6.5. As it dries (not letting it dry out completely, don't worry) the ph will trend upward.
So my pots are going from 6.5 up to 6.8, hypothetically, putting me out of range most of the time.
Ok. Ill mix and adjust a little lower so that the ph swing should be 6.3 (wet) to 6.7 (dry). That should keep me from going too far away from that magical 6.5.

Im seeing that swing out of range now that I think of it. Super prayerful top to bottom right after I feed. And now that theyre moving into their drier time, the leaf tips curl down a bit and look deficient. There isn't a deficiency with nutes feeding 6/9, so Now I know its a lockout because my ph is getting to high as they dry.

Thanks brother. I wasn't taking ph swing into account. Now Ill start fuckin around and find their happy place.

Just feed 5.8 it's not rocket science. If u have issues chech runoff shit like that for clues if unsure of the prob.

I've never rinsed or charged my coco 1x in yrs. I buy canna coco. Never had a problem. Water enzymes and 1/4 dose cal/mag for first couple days then I feed like normal according to plant demands. Which is not much.

I water 1x a day. Can do more but 1 good soak a day is fine unless u are upper 80's+ around these parts. Doesn't get much hotter out than my town. They are still wet on top next day. Even bushes.
I have lil- zero runoff
Enzymes are a must IMO and ill say it once. BUY DRIP CLEAN u will avoid many build up related issues.
If anyone in straight coco doesn't have it, go hurry its invaluable. Especially for. Hungry strains.

Also I forgot to add
Do not over water new transplants. Especially clones. I water when I pot up and chill a couple days til I can visibly see and feel they are drier than I left them and shit this last round I watered the clones 1x at TP and again 5+ days later. Now in the 2nd week the ones with good roots want it 2x a week and by the time the want it every other day I will plan to pot up. Once established in gallon pots or bigger, if u need multi feeds a day to keep wet they can take it by then. I've seen many people over water and slow down or kill small plants

When I hand water I usually mix a 20-30 gal batch at a time. I use clear stable nutes though that make a difference IMO many nutes fall out of suspension and sink to bottom require constant mixing.
My ph even holds well with an air stone bumping at the bottom.
Love my aqua flake for coco( meant for recirculating systems)

Fed today with 5.5ph mixes.

Full Strength mix. 5.5 ph 1.3 EC - 5 gallons R/o
20ml Cal/Mag
24ml Micro
36ml Bloom

80% Mix 5.5 ph 0.9EC - 5 gallons R/o
24ml Micro
36ml Bloom

Also Flushing with straight R/O - unph'd with Florakleen recommended dosage.

Only GDPxQuerkle is being flushed BUT as of tomorrow a lot more girls get just water.

Tomorrow is day 55 week 8 and so begins flush for hte following.

Pineapple Haze - super white frost :D
BATF F2 #1/#2/#3
Sugar Cane Train #1 - picked off a banana today :shucks:
BlackberryPearl - she corrected herself but too late.

Fullstrength mix is hitting
Early/mid bloom Phaze
Berry Hazes - dropped one - oops lol, doesn't look like anything happened but its sure did lose some roots and make a dam mess.
Sugar Cane Train #2 - added her a week after #1
Chem Sis x Nev Haze #1/#2 - Taking these 10 weeks.

Round 2 flushers are :
Sugar Cane Train #2
CSxNH #1/#2
NTOGs
and will be flushed after day 60, looking at day 62.

Wildgrow - You gotta lower that pH way more brother, and next time start with good coco. I would take what ever left over coco you got and dump it outside in some flower bed or veggy bed. Buy some good quality stuff. Cause like smoke says - I honestly use my coco straight outa the bag and don't charge or prerinse it. Same goes for CocoTek from GH, after fluffing it up its good to go, says coconutz

Sirsmokalot - Whats wrong with 5.5? Just curious? some of the more acidic metals aren't available in higher ph's. I'm just trying to do whats best for the plants brother. and I too use right outa the bag, which is why I get what I get because its real good quality and ready, less work.

What size containers do you use? I'm about to go either 2gal or 3 gal smart pots and call it a day, over hte plastic, as convenient as it is, smartpots outperform.

I use hygrozyme, how often do you use enzymes? I know its not needed every feeding... maybe every other but I figured once a week was good enough.

Does dripclean get mixed into the nutrient solution or is it like FloraKleen, used for flush specifically?

I do what you do for transplants/clones.

Harvesting the SilverSkunk Bx1 #1/#2 and BATF F2 #4.

Only the SilverSkunk #1 will get detailed trim work. The other 2 are for hte hash pile, complete joke/junk plants.
