ineffable, Flouro actually has the advantage in the spectrum department. where as HPS is only 1 spectrum, you can run a very diverse mixed spectrum with flouros. HPS will give you more weight watt for watt but also creates more heat. if you have the ventilation, go HPS. if it all possible, i would mix MH and HPS. here is a harvest pic from 200w of cfls that i just cut last night. ill get a weight once they are dry.

Just look at that beautifully frosted bud. People can say all they want about CFL's giving less weight, but I'll be damned if they are going to say that CFL's can't produce quality nuggets.

Good job, bud.

Certainly impressive yields. I think that fluoro growers benefit in a lot of ways from using fluoro lights. Mainly because you really have to tweak everything to the right setting in order to maximize your yield and potency.

Has anyone here had the pleasure of growing two identical clones under a fluoro setup and an HID?

this yielded 8 oz. its 480 watts of t8 flouros. not a great gpw ratio, but it could easily be better. FLOUROS 4 LYFE! lol

uhh.....

please, just try an HPS........your spending the same amount of money for

less buds.....Not disrespecting or anything, your grow is pretty impressive.

But just try it, you won't be unsatisfied :joint:

Wow, I can't believe the repeated HID crap in here. If they wanted/could go HID, they would have. For whatever reason, they didn't, and this thread is to share their accomplishments, not demean them.

While HID may give them better yields, there are a HELL of a lot of HID growers not pulling those kinds of numbers. So get over it. HIDs are not the end all be all of growing.

Awesome examples of the power of fluros guys! :respect:

TN, don't forget you owe me a PM :D

i have been using 150hps thus far, but i have seen enough on ic mag to want to try a similar wattage in floro's one day . i dont think it would be taking a step backwards, from the looks of it . i love my 69w cfl vegging cab.

I have a 368 watt cfl that I built for under 50.00. Everything to make it came from Home Depot.I use it to veg but it could produce nugs too...no problem. I bought a vanity light bar with 4 sockets(11.00). A divider was put into each socket to house two bulbs.A replacement cord wired into the light bar.Very simple.Only three wires.I mounted a round metal box to the back of the bar to safely contain all the wires. There is a place on the back of the light bars for these boxes especially made for that.Don't know what they're called.Any electrician should.

I'm sorry if you felt like i was demeaning the flouros. I was actually

laughing at the "flouro's for life" statement. Even went outta my way

to bold it and enlarge it.

I was just trying to save them money by switching to HID...

Nah, wasn't just you I was referring to.

But, why come into a fluro thread to recommend HPS? It has nothing to with the topic of conversation, and it makes it seem like you question their decision to use fluros, without knowing why they chose them.

Just off topic, I guess would be the best way to put it.

I am curious how you mean they'll save money?

Dunno about online, but I can get a 200w fluoro from my local Light Bulb Depot store for about $30 after tax. They've got lots of locations.

whoa! another thread that i made decides to unabandon itself. thanks to those with pics! hps' are sweet, but fluoros do actually produce dense nugget and have a better spectrum than just hps or mh. even though you may not get 1g/w, it's all about getting high on your own stash instead of getting shorted, paying ridiculous prices, and not getting the kind of herb someone tells you it is. no harm, no foul on anybody here. i have much respect for everybody on ic who shows respect to others. you can get those 105w cfls on ebay or some sort of hydro store. keep em comin guys!!! im gonna get pics up in a couple of days here. peace...

Nope, I mean Light Bulb Depot :D

http://lightbulbdepot.com/

They don't have the 200w CFLs online, I've only seen them in store, but if you go to the website you can see if they have a store near you.

You can buy a 125 watt cfl off of farmtek.com
I love those suckers at that price. I use hid and cfl. They all have their uses. I know guys who use hanging cfls in the middle of their 1K grow to get the sides and lower buds. Cfls are great for personal use....

how do you guys keep your fluoro setups cool during the summer temps? that has become an issue for me and i am stuck in a hardplace. the lights are running at night when it is coldest and my cab temps are 95!!! the fan just blows air out the cab, but all that air doesn't get removed from my closet. i am looking to purchase a stanley blower in order to get some reaaal air circulation to get that stale, hot air out. since it is only running 191w right now, will the lowest setting on the stanley be suffice to lower temps. thanks guys, keep on keepin' on.

which kind of flouros are best, long tubes or cfl's? i have my seedlings under 80w of a 4' reflector shop light thing right now but i want to know if it would be best to get a cfl for the rest of the grow. i cant get any hps or mh lights so please just give me advice on fluoros only. does anyone know where to get cheap, reasonably powerful cfls at and how much they cost?
