improvements in shale oil tech helps them now remain profitable down to $40/barrel. OPEC isn't happy.
will buy more DUG on a dip.

unfortunately, my gold etf purchase has tanked while DUG has risen.

anyone still buying US banks? Was a good investment for me recently and long term i believe in the rising rate environment should do well.(3-5 years i know this thread title is short term).

I do believe we have not seen the end of this oil glut. The current recovery was based on opec production cut but doesn't account for shale producers stepping in.

Credit card companies would be for better results,rather than banks and holding long term.I remember Visa and MasterCard becoming IPO's and they seems to be doing great even in a lowering rates environment.

Canada wants to be set to legalize Marijuana in the mid 2018 and be the first G7 to legal it as a nation.
I don't trade on the Canada exchange but it seems to have been good news for the Investors.

The Canopy Growth company, which cultivates cannabis for medical use, jumped 11 percent on the Toronto Stock Exchange to Can$11 ($8.22) a share.Another producer, Aurora Cannabis, saw an increase of Can$2.50, while shares of Aphria gained 8.4 percent to reach Can$6.70.

Now if Miracle Grow (SMG) can send Some fine Dirt of US soils for them potty plants.SMG might have to be priced in for this News From Canada.Couple Dollars? Allll-Rightie-o~!

The stock did drop but for something like this,sometimes bad news last just one day for the stock and then recovers to resume said Momentum . $69.67...Might see $66 again.I give it 3 down days from now.

Sometimes a trade works against me..Maybe this is a new low going to hit a New High so who knows(5 year graph).First the leggings and now the dragging of the dude.
(Who by the way,left the first time only to run pass the counter and ticket agent and running back into the plane and sitting down at his seat presumably that no one sat in yet)

I had Good Friday(market closed) to wait then the Earnings report on Monday.So today for UAL seems to take off Down.Hit $3.00 at one point.A Good Short for Sure.

looks like we're sort of getting back to regular pre-election volatility.
shorted the topping-out nasdaq today using SQQQ. (3x short)
sold some oil short positions (DUG) yesterday when they
got up above a 11% gain.
gold ETF UGL is finally positive after some ugly weeks earlier.
regional banks ETF, KRE has had better days. sold a position
yesterday that was up 3.2% just to reduce exposure to banks.
other KRE positions still down.

of 1st phase of french elections-
all major us indexes up 1% today.
could be another sugar event with trump
giving first blushes (but no details) of his
tax plan this wed.
these sugar events may offer short possibilities.

I know a guy who had a real interesting answer to the subject of mining stocks.

Somehow or other he set his sights on relatively low content ore, 1 1/2 grams per ton.

Grind up 20 tons of that, and you have near an ounce.

His fuel costs are $100+ a day.

He has a large ball mill that grinds up the rocks.

It's all EPA compliant or whatever environmental/ zoning laws are relevant.

I never asked him what he did with all the gravel.


Of course, a guy like that is unlikely to need investors.

You have to be really, really stubborn to coax metallic gold from rock at 1 1/2 grams per ton.

When Lake Oroville in California spilled over it's spillway and took out some,well most of the spillway and exposed lots of natural Dirt that could and is in a prime spot to find Gold.Especially in the river.Funny thing was,someone started to talk about Gold in them hills and good time to start panning for gold is near the river in the live Oroville Chatroom.

About a week later I guess the Water Dept started a "Don't come here" Notice for people who want to find Gold.In the Newspaper,it said it had asbestos in the hills and it was showing a picture of 2 workers with their faces about 10 inches from the dirt hillside without facemasks.....Yea.......Take a Deep Big Breath!!

The folks in the Oroville Yuba City area will have earned their Au,
especially if the Dam breaks when it is tested again at peak snow-melt ... sort of like it was tested on Feb. 6 this year when it literally began the process of failing, i.e. having uncontrolled erosion at the base of the dam structure.

I was thinking about how, if the O'Dam did break, it would create a whole new '49'er type era.

3.5 million acre feet of water has a way of exposing rock seams that haven't seen the light of day ever, or for millions of years.


If the O'Dam did break ...

every Motel 6 & Super 8 for 300 miles would be booked.

Thousands of people sleeping in their trucks and cars.

Loads of street crime, in a state with close to Zero in the way of firearms rights.

It would be a Wild Wild west scene for sure.


As far as stock trades, I always though Micron Tech was a good company (Ticker, Mu).

Basically because they make most of the parts of a computer - memory, disk drives.

Last time I looked the market cap was $7 Billion.

Now ... it's $30 Billion.

Thanks, I've been holding visa for a couple years. Going overweight on dips and balancing back on peaks.I try to keep visa at 10% of my portfolio, but usually go overweight up to 12%.

I also picked up canopy the day after TRUDeau was elected around $2.20 or something but got cold feet at one point then jumped back in, my dollar cost average on cgc.to $2.52. Been selling some of my position at $10. Was hoping the announcement of legislation would bump it up to $13 so I could exit. but that didn't happen, buy on rumor sell on news. Is that how the saying goes? I've been kicking myself for not dumping it when it hit $18 and got a trading halt put on it multiple times in the same day. I've only been trading since 2015 Canopy is my biggest profit so far at 300%. I love to hear about the 10 bagger though, at one point i thought canopy might get there but the valuation is already unreasonable, they'd have to sell billions of dollars of pot every year!!!! to justify the valuation I believe.

Remember the SEB stock I was taking about in place of DRYS?
SEB made a New High today ($2,058) from when first mentioned back in june 18th 2010 at $1610..I hate tops like that on that date on the One year graph.The pullback..then the climb.

I re-read the SEB ticker and it's at $4,173.44 Now.
I don't own it but this sure is impressive.

I remember Fondly telling a Nice Stripper at a strip bar during a very slow day (I live near a beach)and she had a laptop and told her about SEB at $1000.And Scottrade.And Google.

up in canada they have business news network, it's got good analysts on sometimes. i like Chris Damas, you can tell he smokes weed and knows more about the market than most wall street types. this shows focus is cannabis, agriculture and fertilizer stocks. have a watch if your interested.
